[Objective] To summarize image manifestations in intestinal tuberculosis (ITB) examined by multi-slice computed tomography enteroclysis (MSCT) and evaluate the diagnostic value of MSCTE in ITB,[Methods] The imaging findings were retrospectively analyzed in 15 cases of ITB that were confirmed by endoscopy or postoperative pathologic examination,including the location,number,shape,edge,surrounding tissue alterations of ITB and other associated changes in the peritoneum,mesentery and solid abdominal organs,and compared with endoscopy and pathology.[Results] In 15 patients,ileocecum was involved in 13 cases (87％),4 cases (27％) showed multi-segmental symmetric intestinal mural thickening,9 patients (60％) showed solid masses,1 case (7％) showed multi-segmental symmetric intestinal mural thickening and solid masses,1 case (7％) showed homogenous enhanced masses and perforation,12 cases (86％) showed enlarged lymph nodes (LNs) with rim enhancement,and 2 cases (13％) showed the comb sign of enhanced mesenteric vessels.Based on enhancement pattern of MSCTE,ITB was divided into three types:homogenous enhancement type (n=5);target sign type (n=2);caseous necrosis type (n=2).[Conclusion] The imaging features of ITB are diverse.MSCTE can clearly display the shape of intestinal mucosa,the alterations of intestinal wall and the relationship between lesion and adjacent tissues,which provides valuable information for the clinic diagnosis of ITB.

OBJECTIVE:To determine the median effective dose (ED50) of propofol with single intravenous injection in alcohol dependence or withdrawal model rats,and to observe the anaesthetic effect of 2-fold ED50 propofol. METHODS:Fifty SD rats were divided into drinking group(n＝23)and control group(n＝27)based on whether the consumption of alcohol was greater than 3.0 g/(kg·d). Drinking group continued to drink freely and intermittently to establish alcohol dependence model. Control group was only given drinking water for ethanol elution 16 rats were randomly selected from each group to determine ED50 of propofol with single intravenous injection by sequential method,and initial dose was 6.02 mg/kg. After eluting for a week,alcohol dependence rats stopped drinking for 24 hours and had alcohol withdrawal symptoms to establish alcohol withdrawal model. ED50 of propofol in alcohol withdrawal group and control group were determined with same method. After eluting for a week,anaesthetic effect [disappearance time and reappearance time of forepaw righting reflex(FRR),time of activity complete recovery] of 2-fold ED50 propofol with single intravenous injection were observed in alcohol dependence group,alcohol withdrawal group and control group,and corresponding time point and the frequency of respiration before administration were also observed. Changes of liver function indexes(serum albumin,alanine transaminase,total bilirubin,γ glutamyl transaminopeptidase)and liver histomorphology were observed 48 h after medication,10 in each group. RESULTS:ED50 of propofol in alcohol dependence model rats was 9.563 mg/kg,which was higher than 5.623 mg/kg of control group. ED50 of propofol in alcohol withdrawal model rats was 4.086 mg/kg,which was lower than 5.297 mg/kg of control group. Compared with control group,reappearance time of FRR was prolonged significantly in alcohol dependence group and alcohol withdrawal group (P＜0.05). There was no statistical significance in disappearance time of FRR or activity complete recovery time (P＞0.05). The frequency of respiration during FRR disappearance was lower than before propofol injection,FRR reappearance and activity complete recovery (P＜0.01). After intravenous injection of 2-fold ED50 propofol,reappearance time of FRR in alcohol dependence group and alcohol withdrawal group were longer than control group(P＜0.05)；the alcohol dependence group was longer than the alcohol withdrawal group(P＜0.05).The time of activity complete recovery in alcohol dependence group was longer than control group and alcohol withdrawal group (P＜0.05). The frequency of respiration in 3 groups during FRR disappearance were all lower than before propofol injection,FRR reappearance and activity complete recovery(P＜0.01). There was no significant difference in the change of liver function indexes or liver histomorphology. CONCLUSIONS:ED50 of propofol is increased in alcohol dependence rats,while ED50 of propofol is decreased in alcohol withdrawal rats. 2-fold ED50 of propofol has no significant toxicity to liver function.

Aim To assess the effects of Banqiao Codonopisis Pilosula(BCP)decoction on learning and memory dysfunction in AD model rats induced by high activity GSK-3β and its possible mechanism.Methods The SD rats(4 months old,♂)were divided into five groups,namely,sham-operated group(blank group),AD model group,BCP high-dose(2.16 g·kg-1·d-1)group,BCP medium-dose(1.08 g·kg-1·d-1)group,and BCP lower-dose(0.54 g·kg-1·d-1)group.Treatment group received BCP decoction by gavage once a day for 14 days,while other groups were offered drinking water by gavage once a day for 14 days.The autonomous behavior activities of all rats were observed and recorded after gavage.In the last seven days by gavage,Morris water maze test was used to test the spatial learning and memory ability of the five groups.After five days training,treatment groups and AD model group were injected wortmannin(WT,PI3K specific inhibitor)and GF-109203X(GFX,PKC specific inhibitor)(100 μmol·L-1 of each,total volume of 10 μL)into the right lateral ventricle of the rats.The blank group was only injected 2％DMSO.The spatial memory retention was detected by water maze 24 hours after lateral ventricle injection.Then,changes in the spatial learning memory of rats were observed.The level of Tau phosphorylation in SD rat hippocampus and the expression and activity changes of related protein kinase GSK-3β were detected by Western blot and immunohistochemistry.The changes of Nissl bodies in SD rat hippocampus were observed by Nissl′s staining.Results After intragastric administration of BCP,the rat autonomous behavior activities in each group all showed a declining trend,and the differences in low-dose and middle-dose groups had statistical significance compared with blank group.The Morris water maze tests showed that the latency navigation of model group was significantly longer than that of blank group(P<0.01),while that of the BCP three doses groups was shorter than that of model group(P<0.05).Compared with the same group,the latency navigation of the three groups after gavage BCP low,middle and high dose was significant shorter than that without gavage(P<0.05).Western blot results showed that the activity of GSK-3β in AD model group was up-regulated compared with the blank group.However,BCP inhibited activity of GSK-3β.Western blot and immunohistochemistry results showed the level of Tau phosphorylation in AD model group was increased compared with the blank group in the area of CA3(P<0.05).Compared with AD model group,the level of Tau phosphorylation was decreased in treatment group.Nissl′s staining results showed that dendritic spines in AD model group was significantly attenuated compared with the blank group(P<0.05).Far more dendritic spines were observed in treatment group than in AD model group.The number of Nissl′s bodies in neuron cells of hippocampus in hippocampal CA3 was obviously larger in treatment groups than in AD model group.These effect of BCP was dose-dependent.Conclusions BCP can prevent the learning and memory dysfunction in AD model rats induced by high activity of GSK-3β.The mechanism may be related to inhibiting GSK-3β activity and then reducing the level of phosphorylation of Tau and improving neural development.

Objective To observe the influence of anti-oxidative stress effect of lycopene (LP) on motor function after spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats. Methods 36 healthy adult Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into Groups A, B and C with 12 rats in each group.SCI model was made by Allen's mode (10 g×25 mm) on T9. Group A received no treatment, 30 mg/kg methylprednisolone sodium succinate was injected for Group B in peritoneal cavity 30 min after SCI, 20 mg/kg LP was given orally for Group C. On the 1st d, 3rd d and 7th d after operation, the motor function was assessed by slanting board test and Basso-Beattie-Bresnahan scale (BBB); superoxide dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) were determined in serum. Results Compared with Group A, the scores of the slanting board test significantly increased in Group C 1 d, 3 d, and in Group B 1 d, 3 d and 7 d after operation (P<0.05); the BBB scores significantly increased in Group C 1 d, 3 d and 7 d, and in Group B 1 d, 7 d after operation (P<0.05); the activity of SOD significantly increased in Group C 1 d, 3 d and 7 d, and in Group B 3 d, 7 d after operation (P<0.05); the content of MDA significantly decreased in Group C 3 d, 7 d, and in Group B 1 d, 7 d after operation (P<0.05). Conclusion Lycopene can reduce the level of oxidative stress and promote the motor function in rats after acute SCI.

Objective To evaluate the prognostic value of a novel prediction model based on fibrinogen concentration in combination with neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (F-NLR score) in patients with esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) receiving neoadjuvant therapy and investigate their relationship with pathologic complete response (pCR).Methods Clinical data of 218 eligible ESCC patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy in the Affiliated Cancer Hospital of Zhengzhou University between 2012 and 2015 were retrospectively analyzed.The cut-off values for fibrinogen and neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR)were defined by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve.The effects of different F-NLR scores on survival and pCR were evaluated.The survival rate was analyzed using the Kaplan-Meier method.The relationship among fibrinogen,NLR and pCR was analyzed by using Wilcoxon rank sum test.Results The 3-year overall survival (OS) rates with F-NLR scores of 0,1 and 2 were 72.1％,66.5％ and 50.2％(P=0.010),respectively.The corresponding 3-year disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 64.1％,60.2％ and 45.4％ (P=0.012),respectively.The clinical prognosis of patients with an F-NLR score of 2 was significantly worse compared with those of their counterparts with an F-NLR score of 0-1 (P=0.003).Multivariate analysis demonstrated that the F-NLR score (P=0.004) and TNM stage (P=0.000) were the independent prognostic factors.Conclusions The F-NLR score can be used as an independent prognostic factor for ESCC patients treated with neoadjuvant therapy,which is promising supplement to current TNM staging system,thereby facilitating more accurate risk stratification analysis and achieving individualized multidisciplinary treatment for ESCC patients.

Cancer is one of the leading causes of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Due to population aging, lifestyle variation and other factors, the morbidity and mortality of cancer continue to rise in China, resulting in a serious public health problem threating people's health. In response to this increasingly serious problem, tremendous efforts have been made in China, including the development of a series of policies and measures for specific needs of cancer prevention and treatment. Currently, China's strategy to reduce the disease burden of cancer mainly focuses on primary and secondary prevention. This paper summarizes the current status of disease burden of cancer and the performance of three-grade cancer prevention in China.

Objective:To investigate mentor-mentee dual evaluation of the current status of mentor competency of clinical and translational research mentors, and provide the basis for mentor training focused on the mentor competences.Methods:A total of 121 clinical and translational research mentors and 170 mentees from Peking Union Medical College Hospital were enrolled. The Chinese version of the Mentor Competency Assessment (MCA) questionnaire was used to evaluate the mentor competency, including maintaining effective communication, aligning expectations, assessing understanding, fostering independence, addressing diversity, promoting professional development total 6 parts with 26 sub-items. The Likert scale was used to quantitatively evaluate the clinical and translational research mentor competency by mentor-mentee dual evaluations. And the composition and training needs of clinical and translational research mentors were investigated. SPSS 25.0 was used for t-test. Results:Seventy percent (119/170) of mentees considered the mentor guidance was very helpful, and 78.5% (95/121) of the mentors considered it necessary to carry out the mentor training. The mentee evaluation of mentor competency was significantly higher than that of mentor self-evaluation [total score (162.35±23.59) vs. (154.80±19.81), P < 0.01]. And the excellent rate of 26 sub-items by mentees and mentors were 100.0%(170/170) and 46.3%(56/121) respectively. The mentors and mentees shared the agreement of the strengths on trust-based relationship and encouraging mentees, and weaknesses on taking into account the possible prejudices in mentor-mentee relationship. Conclusion:The clinical and translational research mentors have already had good competences, but mentor training is still highly warranted. It's expected that to carry out targeted mentor training and assessment according to the mentor's competences will help to improve the construction of the medical talents training system.

Objective To study effects of different types of high-impact exercises on the increment of bone mineral density (BMD) and bone mineral content (BMC) . Methods Thirty-nine male volunteers, including 13 hoopsters, 13 paratroopers, and 13 common college students as the control, were recruited and divided into two subgroups (subgroup 1:20-22 years old; subgroup 2:23-25 years old). Their BMDs and BMCs on calcaneus, first through fifth metatarsus, hip, and lumbar spine (L1-4) were evaluated. Results The BMC of calcaneus, the first and second metatarsals, total lumbar spine, and total hip in the hoopster group was significantly higher than that in the control group and paratrooper group. The hoopster group obtained statistically higher BMD at the lumbar spine, hip, and femoral neck than the other two groups. However, the BMCs and BMDs of the paratrooper group and control group had no significant differences at almost all measured anatomical locations. Conclusions BMC and BMD are not always in positive correlation with vertical ground reaction forces during normal exercises. Compared with parachuting training, playing basketball as a kind of variable load exercise can effectively increase BMC and BMD, and is more beneficial for reducing the risk of osteoporotic fracture.
