Objective To discuss the feasibility of Shuyisha as hemostasis and repair material for liver wound. Methods Hemolysis rate, acute toxicity and eytotoxicity of Shuyisha were measured. A hemorrhage model was established by making an open wound (5 mm× 3 nun ×2 mm) on the left liver lobe of mice. Hemostasis was performed with Shuyisha in experimental group and with Surgicel in control group, when the hemostatic time and total blood loss (TBL) were accurately recorded and regular macro-scopic and histological observation carried out. Results The hemolysis rate of Shuyisha was 2.33%, with maximum tolerance does of over 0.48 g/kg and the eytotoxicity at zero. The hemostatie time of Shuy-isha was (5.00 ±0.00) s, with total blood loss of (0.88±0.18) g/kg, better than Surgicel (P< 0.05). Shuyisha was degraded completely within 14 days, with the wound healed within 21 days in ex-perimental group, much better than Surgieel. Conclusions The hemolysis rate, acute toxicity and cy-totoxicity of Shuyisha are up to the requirement of biomedical materials. Shuyisha has effective hemosta-sis, which may be related to its molecular structure and adhesion.

Epilepsy with eyelid myoclonia (EEM), also known as Jeavons syndrome, is a type of genetic generalized epilepsy officially recognized by the International League Against Epilepsy. The clinical characteristics of EEM include eyelid myoclonia, eye closure sensitivity, and photosensitivity, typically manifesting in childhood with a higher prevalence in female patients. The prognosis of EEM is poor, and seizures are difficult to fully control even with standardized drug treatment. The electroencephalogram of EEM often shows fast interictal multiple spike-wave complexes, which can be induced by eye closure or photic stimulation. Functional magnetic resonance imaging and other studies have found that EEM is associated with brain network abnormalities, particularly the key role of the central medial thalamic nucleus in the regulation of cortical excitability. Genetic research has found that EEM may be related to variations in genes such as CHD2, SYNGAP1, NEXMIF, RORB, and GABRA1.

Objective To analyze the influence of trimetazidine combined with atorvastatin on ser-um angiopoietin-2(Ang-2)and chitinase protein 40(YKL-40)levels and ultrasound parameters in elderly patients with unstable angina pectoris(UAP).Methods A total of 133 elderly UAP pa-tients admitted in Hospital of the 81st Group of PLA Army from January 2021 to March 2024 were enrolled, and according to their treatment methods, they were divided into control group(64 cases, simple atorvastatin)and trimetazidine group(69 cases, atorvastatin+trimetazidine). After 4 weeks of treatment, the clinical efficacy was observed in the two groups.Seattle Angina Question-naire(SAQ)score and nitroglycerin dosage, lipid metabolic indicators(TC,TG,LDL-C and HDL-C),cardiac ultrasound parameters[LVEF,LVEDD and left ventricle mass index(LVMI)],serum in-dicators[Ang-2,YKL-40 and von Willebrand factor(vWF),matrix metallo proteinase-9(MMP-9)]were compared between the two groups before treatment and after 4 weeks of treatment. The ad-verse reactions during treatment were also recorded in the two groups. Results The total effective rate was significantly higher in the trimetazidine group than the control group(84.06%vs 67.19%,P<0.05).The SAQ score,HDL-C level and LVEF value were significantly risen in the two groups after treatment(P<0.05),and these indicators were obviously higher in the trimetaz-idine group than the control group(P<0.01).The nitroglycerin dosage, levels of TC,TG and LDL-C,LVEDD and LVMI values and serum contents of Ang-2,YKL-40,vWF and MMP-9 were significantly reduced in the two groups after treatment when compared with those before treat-ment(P<0.05),and these indicators in the trimetazidine group were lower than those in the con-trol group(P<0.01).There was no statistical difference in the total incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion Trimetazidine combined with atorvastatin can en-hance the efficacy and improve the lipid metabolism and cardiac function in the treatment of elder-ly UAP patients, which might be due to down-regulating the serum levels of Ang-2,YKL-40,vWF and MMP-9.

Background: Esophageal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer deaths worldwide. T-cell immunoglobulin and mucin domain-containing protein 3 (Tim-3) has been shown to be implicated in the tumor immune escape, and associated with tumor progression and poor prognosis in a variety of malignancies. Aims: To investigate the expression of Tim-3 in esophageal tumorigenesis and its clinical significance. Methods: Paraffin-embedded tissues from 103 esophageal cancer, 21 high-grade esophageal intraepithelial neoplasia, 16 low-grade esophageal intraepithelial neoplasia, and 20 chronic esophagitis were collected in this study. Using immunohistochemistry, the expression level of Tim-3 was evaluated; and the correlation of Tim-3 expression in cancerous tissue with the clinicopathological parameters of esophageal cancer was analyzed. Results: Tim-3 expression was increased from chronic esophagitis, low-grade intraepithelial neoplasia, high-grade intraepithelial neoplasia to esophageal cancer (0.271±0.138, 0.368±0.198, 0.443±0.147, and 0.639±0.119, P<0.05). Moreover, Tim-3 expression was significantly correlated with depth of tumor invasion, regional lymph node metastasis and TNM staging of esophageal cancer (P<0.05), whereas no relationship was found between Tim-3 expression and gender, age and tumor location of esophageal cancer (P>0.05). Conclusions: Tim-3 expression is increased in esophageal tumorigenesis; overexpression of Tim-3 in esophageal cancer is closely correlated with tumor progression. Tim-3 might be served as a biomarker for development, progression and prognosis of esophageal cancer.

Marine microorganisms, especially marine fungi, have historically proven their value as a prolific source for structurally novel and pharmacologically active secondary metabolites (Deshmukh et al., 2018; Carroll et al., 2022). The corals constitute a dominant part of reefs with the highest biodiversity, and harbor highly diverse and abundant microbial symbionts in their tissue, skeleton, and mucus layer, with species-specific core members that are spatially partitioned across coral microhabitats (Wang WQ et al., 2022). The coral-associated fungi were very recently found to be vital producers of structurally diverse compounds, terpenes, alkaloids, peptides, aromatics, lactones, and steroids. They demonstrate a wide range of bioactivity such as anticancer, antimicrobial, and antifouling activity (Chen et al., 2022). The genetically powerful genus Emericella (Ascomycota), which has marine and terrestrial sources, includes over 30 species and is distributed worldwide. It is considered a rich source of diverse secondary metabolites with antimicrobial activity or cytotoxicity (Alburae et al., 2020). Notably, Emericella nidulans, the sexual state of a classic biosynthetic strain Aspergillus nidulans, was recently reported as an important source of highly methylated polyketides (Li et al., 2019) and isoindolone-containing meroterpenoids (Zhou et al., 2016) with unusual skeletons.

Epidural labor analgesia aims to provide effective medical services to alleviate labor pain in parturients, while adhering to the principles of voluntary participation and clinical safety. In 2018, Peking Union Medical College Hospital(PUMCH)became one of the first pilot units for labor analgesia in China, and has achieved satisfactory results in high-quality development of labor analgesia. This article mainly introduces the achievements and experience of labor analgesia at PUMCH, including: (1) prioritizing maternal and infant safety, arranging personnel rationally, and developing standardized treatment processes through multidisciplinary collaboration to ensure safe and comfortable childbirth; (2) leveraging the hospital's comprehensive capabilities in emergency treatment, and improving collaborative rescue plans for critically ill parturients and newborns; (3) implementing advanced teaching methods to effectively train and conduct simulated drills for labor analgesia and rescue of critically ill parturients; (4) conducting patient education and informative lectures to help parturients acquire a scientific understanding of labor analgesia. We hope that this experience can provide reference and inspiration for other hospitals.
