Objective: To explore rational drug usage for periodontitis treatment through a comparative study of the efficacy of four kinds of drugs on the experimental periodontitis. Methods: 126 Wistar rats,10 randomly selected as normal control group, the other 116 were modeled by using local wire ligation and systemic prednisolone acetate injection. Successful animal models were randomly divided into model control group and berberine hydrochloride, minocycline hydrochloride, ginsenoside Rg-1 and transforming growth factor-β1 treatment groups, which were treated with each kind of medicine separately and were killed at the end of 1, 2, 4 weekend. Detected IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6, BGP levels by immunohistochemical SABC assay. Results: IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6 of the treatment groups were lower and BGP was higher than model control group(P<0.05).Among them, the role of berberine hydrochloride to reduce IL-1β and TNF-α was the best. The role of minocycline hydrochloride to reduce IL-6 was the fastest. The role of transforming growth factor-β1 to increase BGP was the fastest. The role of ginsenoside Rg-1 to increase BGP was more lasting and better follow-up. Berberine and ginsenoside Rg-1 reduced IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-6 and increased BGP at the same time. Conclusion: The treatment of minocycline hydrochloride and transforming growth factor-β1 are quick. Berberine and ginsenoside Rg-1, particularly berberine have the advantage of multi-targets' role.

Objective To explore the experience in the treatment of postoperative reocclusion in patients of lower limb arterial occlusion.Methods From January 2007 to December 2011,clinical data were reviewed on 98 reocclusion episodes in 70 patients,who had been treated by graft bypass (30 patients),or angioplasty (15 patients) or both (25 patients).In this series,10 cases received conservative treatment and to the other 88 episodes reoperation was given,including thrombectomy alone in 15 episodes,and thrombectomy combined with microcatheter application for 13 episodes,and thrombectomy combined with angioplasty and microcatheter application for 60 episodes.Results Two patients died during follow-up period and 5 patients were lost to follow-up including 2 receiving conservative treatment.The other 63 patients were followed-up for 8 to 60 months,averaging (24 ± 5) months.The arterial patency in patients receiving reoperation treatment was 69.8％ (44 patients) and the amputation rate was 12.7％ (8 patients).Conclusions For postoperative recurrent arterial occlusion in patients of lower limb arterial occlusion,thrembectomy combined with angioplasty and microcatheter application may generate satisfactory results,

Objective:To investigate the effects of LPS on the IL-6 expression in osteoblasts.Methods:Rat calvarial osteoblasts were primarily cultured. LPS from Escherichia coli with different concentration were administrated. Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to identify the IL-6 mRNA expression of the cells. The intensities of electrophoresis bands were measured. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect IL-6 protein production. The data were analyzed with SPSS 10.0 software package.Results:E. coli LPS with concentrations of 1?10-5 g/L-1?10-3 g/L induced IL-6 mRNA and IL-6 protein expression in osteoblasts. Statistically significant differences were detected at concentrations 1?10-4,1?10-3 g/L E.coli LPS.Conclusion:LPS can increase the expression of IL-6 in osteoblasts in the gene and protein levels. IL-6 may play an important role in the alveolar bone metabolism.

The broad-spectrum antibacterial action of berberine hydrochloride mainly contributes to recurrent aphtha, periapical periodontitis, radioactive mucositis and pericoronitis, however a little evidence support the action mechanism underlying periodontitis treatment. OBJECTIVE: To determine the effects of berberine hydrochloride on the expressions of related cytokines in periodontal tissues of experimental periodontitis rats, to reveal and understand the action pathway of berberine hydrochloride on oral tissue repair. METHODS: Sixty Wistar rats weighing 160-200 g, aged 3 months Models, were involved in this study.Models of experimental periodontitis were established in rats through a use of local steel-wire ligation and systemic injection of prednisone acetate. Forty successfully established models were randomized into periodontitis model group (n=8) and periodontitis treatment group (n=32), at the same time, 10 normal rats served as control group. The treatment group of animals were fed with 0.06 g/kg berberine hydrochloride daily and medicated to death over the 1, 2, 3, 4 weekends (8 rats each). The model group was fed with isodose normal saline. The model group and normal control group were killed at the fourth weekend. Main observations: ①Oral gross observation and X-ray film examination; ②Pathological assay of periodontal tissues; ③Immunohistochemical SABC method was conducted to determine the expressions of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), bone gla protein (BGP), interleukin-1β (IL-1β), interleukin-6 (IL-6) in periodontal tissues in rats. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:①Following hormone injection, gum tissue exhibited erosion and pyorrhea in model group of rats; the above-mentioned symptoms were relieved in rats of treatment group; there was no abnormality in periodontal tissues of normal rats. X-ray examination revealed alveolar crest resorption and obvious interredicular shadow in the model group.②Rats of model group showed obvious pathologic changes in periodontal tissues, the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 were significantly higher and the level of BGP was dramatically lower than those in normal group (P < 0.05); Treatment with berberine hydrochloride decreased the levels of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 in periodontal tissues and increased the level of BGP compared with model group (P < 0.05). The periodontal tissues in groups treated with berberine hydrochloride exhibited pathological changes at inflammatory repair stage. Results showed that berberine hydrochloride inhibits the expressions of TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 in periodontal tissues in experiment rat models of periodontitis, and promotes the expression of BGP and repair of periodontal tissue.

Objective To investigate MVD, TSP-1, TGF-?1 expression in GH-Secreting Pituitary Adenomas by immunohistochemistry, and to correlate data with clinical characteristics.Methods The protein expression of TSP-1, TGF-?1 in 48 surgical specimens (21 invasive cases; 27 non-invasive cases) of pituitary adenomas was measured using immunohistochemical method. The relationship between the expression and clinical properties was examined. MVD was measured by detecting CD34.Results Compared with the noninvasive group, no difference of expression of CD34(t=2.257; P=0.083) was observed. The expression of TSP-1 in invasive group was low. The expression of TGF-?1 was higher in invasive cases than that in noninvasive ones. The expression of TGF-?1 had positive correlations with MVD; but there was no correlation between the expression of CD34 and the invasion of pituitary adenomas. In addition, MVD count was not associated with the expression of TSP-1. Size, sex or rate of recurrence did not influence MVD and TSP-1 expression. Conclusion MVD values do not necessarily represent angiogenesis in pituitary adenomas. TGF-?1 may increase MVD, and TSP-1 does not affect MVD in pituitary adenomas and angiogenesis may be regulated by other pathway.

OBJECTIVETo explore the incidence, influence factors and treatment methods of oral mucositis (OM) following hematopoietic stem cells transplantation (HSCT).

METHODSA clinical analysis about the total 71 OM cases occurring after HSCT among 166 patients in Peking University People's Hospital during 2009 was completed.

RESULTSThe healing rate of OM was 95.77% and the average healing time was (17.61 +/- 8.36) d after HSCT. There were no obvious effects of gender, age, HLA matches, conditioning regimen to the healing time of OM (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONGender, age, HLA matches and conditioning regimen have no obvious effects on healing time. By given timely and effective treatment, the incidence of OM can be reduced and even severe OM can also be well cured.

Objective To explore the correlation study of cerebral vascular hemo -dynamic index(CVHI) with blood pressure,body mass index (BMI)etc.in outpatients.Methods Participants were outpatients with non -invasive CVHI test,who were selected as study subjects.Height,weight,blood pressure and other general information were investigated and the distribution characteristics of blood pressure,BMI and CVHI were compared in different age and gender groups.Results A total of 28 616 subjects were included in the study.The age range was 11 -99 years. Means of CVHI integral score in males and females were (77.78 ±28.44)points and (79.18 ±27.8)points(t =4.275,P <0.01),and abnormality rates of the score(<75 points)were 30.1% and 28.1%(χ2 =13.444,P <0.01),the differences were statistically significant.CVHI score was decreased and the abnormal rate was increased with aging.Systolic blood pressure was elevated with aging and diastolic blood pressure was higher in middle age subjects (40 -65 years).The proportions of over weighted and obesity in male were 37.5% and 15.4%,which in female were 33.2% and 14.9%(χ2 =70.661,P <0.01).It was especially higher in middle age subjects.Conclusion Degree of injury of cerebrovascular function and level of systolic blood pressure are along with aging.Means of BMI and diastolic blood pressure is higher in middle age population.The rate of high risk individuals in outpatients is about 30%.

Objective: To study relationship between coronary heart disease (CHD) and dyslipidemia. Methods: A total of 302 CHD patients diagnosed by coronary angiography were enrolled as CHD group, and 218 healthy subjects without cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases by health examination were regard as healthy control group. Relative data were collected and levels of blood triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) were measured and compared between two groups. Results: Compared with healthy control group, there were significant increase in levels of blood TC [(4.03±0.97) mmol/L vs. (4.62±1.06) mmol/L] and LDL-C[(2.51±0.86) mmol/L vs. (3.76±1.07) mmol/L] in CHD group, P<0.01 both. Multiple factor Logistic regression analysis indicated that elevated LDL-C level was an independent risk factor for occurrence of CHD (OR=2.608, 95%CI = 1.268-5.366, P=0.009). Conclusions: The results show that levels of TC and LDL-C in patients with coronary heart disease are significantly higher than those of healthy control group. Elevated LDL level may be an independent risk factor for occurrence of coronary heart disease.

Objective: To investigate the therapeutic effects of compound Kushen Tang and its relevant mechanism in TNBS-in-duced ulcerative colitis ( UC) rats. Methods:UC was induced by TNBS in rats. After compound Kushen Tang was given orally, the levels of MDA, iNOS, and NO and the activity of MPO, SOD, and GSH-Px were measured. The general condition of rats and colon tissue morphology were observed. Results:The levels of MDA (P<0. 05), iNOS (P<0. 01) and NO (P<0. 01) and the activity of MPO (P<0. 01) in tissues of UC rats were significantly higher than the control group. The activity of SOD (P<0. 01) and GSH-Px (P<0. 05) were significantly lower than those in the control group. After the treatment with high doses of compound Kushen Tang, the levels of MPO (P<0. 01), MDA (P<0. 05), iNOS (P<0. 05) and NO (P<0. 01) were significantly decreased, and the activity of SOD (P<0. 01) and GSH-Px (P<0. 05) significantly increased. The therapeutic effect was dose-dependent and the general con-dition of rats and colon tissue morphology were also significantly improved. Conclusion:Compound Kushen Tang is considered as a no-vel therapeutic alternatives for the treatment of UC, which can reduce coloni inflammatory injury and ameliorate the colitis.

Objective: To identify the risk factors of perioperative complications after radical gastrectomy for gastric cancer. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was performed. Case inclusion criteria: (1) patients undergoing radical gastrectomy (D2); (2) primary gastric cancer without distant organ metastasis confirmed by postoperative pathology; (3) no neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery. Patients with peritoneal tumor dissemination found during operation, undergoing palliative operation due to distant metastasis, and undergoing combined organ resection and those without complete clinicopathological data were excluded. According to the above criteria, 426 patients with gastric cancer at our department from January 2015 to June 2017 were included in this study. Of 426 patients, 285 were male and 141 were female with a mean age of (55.4±9.7) years. According to the "Japan Clinical Cancer Research Group (JCOG) classification criteria for postoperative complications of gastric cancer", patients with grade II and higher complications were classified as complication group, and patients with no complication or grade I complication were classified as non-complication group. Baseline data were compared between two groups. Associations of perioperative complication with gender, age, body mass index, preoperative routine laboratory test, American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA) classification, activities of daily living (ADL) assessment, past medical history as well as preoperative conditions (hypertension and/or diabetes), surgical resection procedure, incision type, operation time, intraoperative blood loss/body mass ratio were examined. Univariate analysis was performed using χ² test and the Wilcoxon rank sum test to screen the statistically significant variables associated with perioperative complications. The significant variables were included in multivariate logistic regression analysis to identify risk factors of perioperative complication. Results: Grade II or higher complications after surgery were developed in 97 patients (22.8%), which included anastomotic leakage in 18 cases (4.2%), postoperative bleeding in 9 cases (2.1%), abdominal abscess in 5 cases (1.2%), intestinal obstruction in 5 cases (1.2%), pancreatic leakage in 1 case (0.2%), and other adverse events in 59 cases (13.8%). Univariate analysis suggested that the gender, age, ADL, incision type, intraoperative blood loss/body mass ratio, and operation time were associated with perioperative complication (all P<0.05). Multivariate analysis revealed that elder age (OR=1.033, 95% CI:1.013-1.053, P=0.013), incision type of laparotomy (OR=2.091, 95% CI:1.247-3.508, P=0.004), longer operation time (OR=1.004, 95% CI:1.001-1.007, P=0.001) and higher ratio of intraoperative blood loss/body mass (OR=1.100, 95% CI: 1.039-1.163, P=0.031) were risk factors for postoperative complications. Conclusion Attention should be paid to those cases with elder age, laparotomy incision, longer operation time and higher ratio of intraoperative blood loss/body mass, and perioperative management after gastrectomy should be improved.
