Objective: To examine the influencing factors of the efficiency of county-level centers for disease control and prevention ( CDCs) in China. Methods:458 county-level CDCs were selected based on a systematic sam-pling method. Multilevel modeling was used to analyze the region-level and institution-level influencing factors affect-ing the efficiency of CDCs. Results: It was found that the region ( province) is associated with the efficiency of a CDC. The region-level factor of population density exhibited a significant influence, while the institution-level factors such as the proportion of health technicians, service income and CDC laboratories per capita also had an influence on overall efficiency. Conclusions: Both the region-level and institution-level determinants influence efficiency. Multi-level modeling can help researchers gain a comprehensive understanding of the influencing factors that affect the CDC efficiency.

AIM:To investigate the expression of centromere protein-H(CENP-H)in adrenocortical carcino-ma(ACC)and its relationship with disease progression and prognosis, and to explore the impact of CENP-H gene knock-down on the viability and migration of ACC cells.METHODS:The mRNA expression level of CENP-H in 76 ACC pa-tients and 128 healthy controls, and its correlations with tumor stages and prognosis were analyzed by GEPIA2 database. The mRNA expression of CENP-H in different stages of ACC and its correlation with disease prognosis were further ana-lyzed by ULCAN database. The protein expression of CENP-H was examined by immunohistochemical staining of paraffin-embedded ACC and normal adrenal gland specimens.Knockdown of CENP-H by siRNA(siCENP-H)was performed in human ACC cell line H295R.The viabilty of H295R cells transfected with siCENP-H or siNC was measured by CCK-8 as-say,the cell migration was detected by wound-healing assay, and the protein levels of CENP-H,p-ERK1/2,t-ERK1/2,p-P38,t-P38,p-JNK1/2 and t-JNK1/2 were detected by Western blot.RESULTS:The mRNA level of CENP-H was signifi-cantly higher in ACC than that in normal controls, and was correlated with tumor stages and prognosis. The protein level of CENP-H was significantly higher in ACC specimens than that in normal adrenal gland.Knockdown of CENP-H in H295R cells resulted in decreased cell viability and migration. The protein levels of p-P38 and p-JNK1/2 were decreased in si-CENP-H group.CONCLUSION:CENP-H is highly expressed in ACC,and is correlated with tumor stages and poor prognosis.Knockdown of CENP-H can inhibit the viability and migration of ACC cells, and its mechanism may related to inactivation of P38 and JNK signaling pathways.

The objective of this study was to determine the visco-hyperelastic constitutive law of brain tissue under dynamic impacts. A method combined by finite element simulations and optimization algorithm was employed for the determination of material variables. Firstly, finite element simulations of brain tissue dynamic uniaxial tension, with a maximum stretch rate of 1.3 and strain rates of 30 s and 90 s , were developed referring to experimental data. Then, fitting errors between the engineering stress-strain curves predicted by simulations and experimental average curves were assigned as objective functions, and the multi-objective genetic algorithm was employed for the optimation solution. The results demonstrate that the brain tissue finite element models assigned with the novel obtained visco-hyperelastic material law could predict the brain tissue's dynamic mechanical characteristic well at different loading rates. Meanwhile, the novel material law could also be applied in the human head finite element models for the improvement of the biofidelity under dynamic impact loadings.

To analyze types of urinary calculi and patients' clinical characteristics, and to explore the strategies for prevention and treatment of urinary calculi.
Methods: A total of 1 849 patients with urinary calculi were treated in the Department of Urology, the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University. The components were analyzed by infrared spectroscopy. The relationship between stone composition and clinical parameters was analyzed according to the clinical characteristics of the patients.
Results: The proportion of calcium oxalate stone or uric acid stone in male (84.1% or 7.7%) was higher than that in female (78.4% or 4.2%). The older patients were more likely to be diagnosed as uric acid stone. The proportions of uric acid stone in patients <18 years old, 18-<41 years old, 41-<66 years old, and ≥66 years old were 0.0%, 1.6%, 6.6%, and 12.4%, respectively. There was no significant difference in the proportion of stones in patients with different BMI. There were no significant difference in the stone composition between the patients with or without urinary tract infection, hypertension or diabetes. The proportion of uric acid stones in patients with acidic urine was higher than the other types. The proportion of uric acid stones in patients with elevated creatinine (12.1%) was higher than that in the patients with normal creatinine (4.5%).
Conclusion: Elderly patients, or patients with high uric acid and renal insufficiency are more prone to uric acid stones. Regulation of urinary pH may be an important strategy for preventing and treating urinary calculi in Hunan Province.
