1.Progress of neonatal sepsis and intestinal microecology
International Journal of Pediatrics 2021;48(4):267-270
Sepsis is a common cause of neonatal death and has attracted more and more attention in recent years. The intestine is the largest reservoir of bacteria in the human body, and it plays an initial role in the occurrence and development of many diseases. The use of antibiotics, feeding methods, delivery methods and gestational age can seriously affect the colonization of neonatal intestinal flora. The recent studies have shown that the imbalance of intestinal flora can activate uncontrolled pro-inflammatory responses and lead to sepsis. The intestinal microecology of neonates with sepsis may have flora disorder, decreased diversity, and flora shift, which can result in a series of pathophysiological changes throughout the body. This article reviews the role of intestinal microecology in the pathogenesis of neonatal sepsis and the influencing factors of intestinal flora.

Anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION) is the ciliary artery-circulatory disorders for the supply of optic nerve head area before the sieve plate prozone and sieve plate district, result in the insufficient blood supply of the optic nerve head and ischemia hypoxia, edema. Clinical manifestations of the type with non-artery inflammatory neuropathy and artery inflammatory neuropathy, which would both eventually lead to the irreversible damage to the optic nerve. In the early phase of AION, the main method is giving a glucocorticoids intravenous drip and a periglomerular injection (or retrobulbar injection) in time, but using the glucocorticoids for a long time or in quantity can cause a series of complications. Therefore, the combination of traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment of AION has become more and more significant in clinic.

Cryopreservation of bovine articular cartilage and Human Bone Marrow Fibroblast (HBMF) monolayer cells is studied in the paper. The results show that the high concentrations of Cryoprotective agents (CPA) coupled with the appearance of sucrose and high contents of 1,2-propanediol contribute to reducing the formation and growth of ice nuclei and have the potential to obtain good protective effects. High concentrations of CPA can result in great damages to cartilage and HBMF monolayer cells, which can be moderated by decreasing the temperature of adding and removal of CPA. In the frozen cartilage, which is put into liquid nitrogen without adding of any CPA, the architectures of both the chondrocytes and extracellular matrix have been severely damaged. While in the control group, the chondrocytes are intact and well preserved.

Objective To compare the efficiency of enhanced T2* weighted angiography (ESWAN) sequence with that of a conventional T2*-weighted gradient-recalled-echo (GRE T2*WI) sequence for the detection of hemorrhagic shearing lesions in patients with diffuse axonal injury (DAI). And combined with MRI parameters, to further discuss the principles and virtues of ESWAN sequence. Methods Seventeen patients with DAI were enrolled in this study. The raw data acquired from ESWAN scan were postprocessed by using the mean square root of multi-echoes. Then, the postprocessed images were compared with the conventional GRE T2* weighted images. The global and regional (superficial, deep and posterior fossa) lesion numbers determined by both sequences were compared by using Wilcoxon signed ranks test (two-tailed). Differences were considered to be significant at P≤0.05. Results Hemorrhagic lesions were more obvious on ESWAN images than those on conventional GRE T2* weighted images. The median and range value of the detected lesion numbers on ESWAN images were 27 and (1-239) in whole brain, 13 and (1-89) in cerebral superficial region, 5 and (0-111) in cerebral deep region and 1 and (0-39) in posterior fossa region, respectively; whereas, on GRE T2* weighted images, they were 7 and (1-34) in whole brain, 5 and (1-27) in cerebral superficial region, 2 and (0-25) in cerebral deep region and 0 and (0-4) in posterior fossa region, respectively. There were significant statistical differences between the two sequences in revealing the lesions in all the four regions (Z=-3.519,-3.182,-3.185,-2.677,P<0.05). Conclusion In ESWAN sequence, multi-echo acquisition ensured sufficient magnetic susceptibility for detecting small hemorrhagic lesions. So, ESWAN is more sensitive to small hemorrhage, which revealed more hemorrhagic lesions than conventional GRE T2*WI and presented more valuable information for the diagnosis of DAI.
