1.HOMOLOGOUS FETER LIVER CELLS FOR SEVERE VIRAL HEPATITIS: CONTROLLED TRIALS ON 30 CASES
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 1981;0(04):-
Fifteen patients with hepatocellular failure from viral hepatitis were treated with general combined therapy and transfusion" of homologous fetal hepatic cells (FLO for 36 times (group A). An additional 15 cases with hepatocellular failure from viral hepatitis were treated only with general combined therapy, as control (group B). Twelve cases of the group A were diagnosed by transcutaneous liver biopsy. The results showed that FLC suspension achieved satisfactory effects and those who received FLC rallied remarkably better than those who did not. The fatality rates of group A and B were 26.7% (4/15) and 60.0% (9/15) respectively. In group A after transfusion of FLC, the effects were mainly shown by the elevation of the prothrombin activity (elevated for 16.5% after 24 h and for 18.2% after 48 h in average), recovery from hepatic coma and improvement in the subjective symptoms and various hepatic function tests. In survivals of group A (11 cases), the serum bilirubin returned to normal more quickly than that of group B (5 cases), being 55.4?24.5 days and 119.7?54.9 days, respectively (P

Objective To observe the clinical efficacy of acupuncture, chiropractic plus functional exercise of lumbar and gluteal muscles in treating postpartum sacroiliac malposition.Method Forty patients with postpartum sacroiliac malposition were randomized into group A, group B, group C and group D, 10 cases in each group. Group A was intervened by acupuncture, chiropractic plus functional exercise of lumbar and gluteal muscles, group B by acupuncture plus chiropractic, group C by acupuncture plus functional exercise of lumbar and gluteal muscles, and group D by chiropractic plus functional exercise of lumbar and gluteal muscles. The four groups were intervened once every other day. The modified Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) score was observed before and after 5 treatment sessions, and the clinical efficacies in the four groups were compared.Result The total effective rates were 100.0% in the four groups, and the inter-group differences were statistically insignificant (P>0.05). The ODI scores in the four groups were significantly changed after treatment and in the 3-month follow-up study compared with those before the treatment (P<0.05). After the treatment, the ODI score in group B was significantly different from that in the other groups (P<0.05). The ODI scores in group A and B in the 3-month follow-up study were significantly different from those after the treatment in the same group (P<0.05). The ODI score in group A was significantly different from that in the other groups in the 3-month follow-up study (P<0.05). The ODI score in group B in the 3-month follow-up study was significantly different from that in group C and D (P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture, chiropractic plus functional exercise of lumbar and gluteal muscles is definitely effective in treating postpartum sacroiliac malposition, acupuncture plus chiropractic can produce a significant short-term efficacy and alleviate the symptoms, and functional exercise of lumbar and gluteal muscle can produce an obvious long-term efficacy.

Objective To study the clinical effect of endoscopic therapy in the patients with severe acute pancreatitis(SAP).Methods Totally 289 patients with SAP were divided into endoscopic therapy and control groups in random. The patients in control group received conventional medications. The patients in endoscopic group not only received conventional medications but also took endoscopic sphincterotomy (EST),removing stones, endoscopic nasobile or nasopancreatic drainage within 72 h after onset. The remission time of abdominal pain and distention, the duration of serum amylase back to normal,APACHEⅡscores, hospitalization days and expenditure were compared between two groups. Results The remission time [(10.5?3.0) day] of abdominal pain and distention in endoscopic group was significantly lower than that [(12.4?6.8) day] of control group,P

Objective To evaluate the features of solid-pseudopapiHary tumors of pancreas (SPTP),and to compare with the clinical and pathological findings in order to improve the diagnostic accura-cy.Methods The CT appearances were analyzed retrospectively in 5 patients with pathologically proven SPTP.There were 4 women and 1 man, with the mean age of(16.20±7.49)years.Plain CT and contrasted CT were performed in all 5 cases. Results The tumors of 4 caseswerelocatedinthe head and neck of pan-creats and 1 case was in the body and tail of pancreas.Clear tumor margins were seen in all cases. The mean diameter of these tumors was 5.2 cm(3.0-9.0 cm).Two cases were predominantly composed of cystic por-tions,2 cases were mainly composed of solid portions, and 1 case was composed of similar proportions of solid and cystic portions.Inhomogeneous enhancement Was rewealed in contrasted CT scan, but Was lower in both phase than normal pancreas.Tumor border discontinuous ring-shape calcification was seen in 1 case,dilata-tion of the main pancreatic duct Was demonstrated in 1 case and no metastasis were seen. Conclusions Certain CT features may suggest the diagnosis of SPTP.CT combined with the clinical feature is helpful to the diagnosis.

Objective To investigate the effect of percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic surgery for lumbar prolapse upwards type disc herniation. Methods According to the digital table,90 patients with lumbar prolapse upwards type disc herniation were randomly divide into the observation group and the control group,45 cases in each group. The observation group was treated with percutaneous transforaminal endoscopic surgery, the control group was treated with conventional open surgery. The curative effect, operation and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. Results All patients were satisfied with the location, and they were completely removed from the nucleus.Compared with the control group, the operation time[(75.3±23.1)min vs.(103.4±35.4)min]and hospitalization time[(6.8±1.2)d vs.(8.7±1.8)d]of the observation group were shorter, the bleeding volume[(24.5±8.5)mL vs.(51.6±12.7)mL]was lower, the differences were statistically significant(t=4.453,5.632,4.269,all P<0.05).After one month and three months, the VAS score[(2.53±0.65)pints and(1.33±0.48)points]and ODI[(21.40±5.04)% and(12.93±3.50)%]of the observation group were significantly lower, there were statistically differences between the two groups compared with those before treatment(t=6.755,8.765,all P<0.05).And after one month, the VAS score and ODI of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group, the differences were statistically significant(t=4.342,3.985,all P<0.05).There was no significant difference between the two groups in the excellent and good rate(86.7% vs.82.2%,X2=1.011,P>0.05).ConclusionPercutaneous endoscopic discectomy surgery in the treatment of lumbar prolapse upwards type disc herniation is reliable, and it has less trauma and shorter hospital stay.

Objective To investigate the contractive effect of atropine, noradrenaline, adrenaline and pethidine on sphincter of Oddi (SO) isolated from rabbits. Methods The rings of SO isolated from 60 rabbits were treated with Krebs solution and then were exposed to gradient atropine, anisodamin, noradrenalin, adrenaline or pethidine with 10 each. The rest 10 rings of SO treated with Krebs solution only were served as controls. The amplitude and frequency of contraction of SO were recorded. Results Compared with control group, all of the 5 medicines were able to significantly decrease the contractive amplitude, but not frequency, of SO at the concentrations ranged from 10-6 mol/L to 10-2 mol/L (P<0.05). The inhibition order was as follows: noradrenaline > adrenaline >atropine > anisodamin ≈ pethidine. Conclusions Beside atropine and anisodamin, noradrenaline, adrenaline and pethidine also showed the direct relaxation of SO by decreasing contractive amplitude of SO. Adrenaline or noradrenaline displayed stronger effect in decreasing contractive amplitude of SO when compared with atropine or anisodamin.
