Purpose: To observe the clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture plus Chinese herbs in treatment of poststroke depression. Methods: Forty-two cases of poststroke depression were treated by acupuncture plus Chinese herbs, and 30 cases of poststroke depression were treated by Western drug as control. Results: After 6 weeks of treatment, the scores of Hamilton Depressive Scale in two groups were all reduced statistically and remarkably when compared with before treatment; when the acupuncture plus Chinese herbs group were compared with Western drugs group, no significant difference was found in total effective rate. Conclusion: Acupuncture plus Chinese herbs had marked therapeutic effect in the treatment of poststroke depression, and had the advantages of safety and no side effect.

Four cases of pituitary acromegalic cardiomyopathy were reported and relative literature was reviewed in this article.Four patients were all males aged 45-63 y.The patients were diagnosed as pituitary adenoma,then NYHA grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ heart failure developed.One patient had both acromegaly and coronary heart disease,and all patients had arrhythmia attacks.The growth hormone levels were not under control in 3 patients,and for the remaining patient with normalized growth hormone the end-stage heart failure also developed.The onset of pituitary acromegalic cardiomyopathy is hidden; when the disease progresses to advanced heart failure,the prognosis would be poor in most cases.So early diagnosis and timely treatment is of great importance in acromegalic cardiomyopathy.

BACKGROUND: The abnormal changes of hemorrheologic indexes are closely correlated with vascular injury, disorder of microcirculation, thrombosis and its development.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the changes of 25 indexes of hemorheology and whole hemocytes in patients with acute cerebral infarction.DESIGN: A controlled case study.SETTING: Department of Medical Laboratory, Xinxiang Medical College.PARTICIPANTS: Cerebral infarction group: Totally 127 patients with the first attack of acute cerebral infarction were selected from the Department of Neurology, the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinxiang Medical College from January to December in 2002. The onsetof disease ranged from 4 to 12 hours, and the lesions were confirmed by cranial CT, the diagnostic standard accorded with the diagnostic guidelines for various cerebrovascular diseases formulated by the Fourth National Academic Conference for Cerebrovascular Diseases. Normal control group: Fifty-three healthy physical examinees with normal blood pressure and without diseases of heart,brain and kidney, as well as diabetes mellitus. There were no sigmficant differences in ages and male to femaleratios between the two groups.METHODS: ① Patients in the cerebral infarction group received fibrinogen reduction therapy, they were injected with two pieces of 10 u defibrin on the day of admission, and injected with one piece of 10 u defibrin again on the 3rd, 5th and 7th days respectively. ② Fasting venous blood (5 mL) was drawn with thromboliquine anticoagulated vacuum blood collecting tube,and 2 mL blood was coagulated with EDTA-K2. The whole blood viscosity,whole blood high-sheafing reduction viscosity, whole blood low-shearing reduction viscosity, whole blood high-sheafing relative index, whole blood lowsheafing relative index, equation K value of erythrocyte sedimentation, plasma viscosity, hematocrit, erythrocyte sedimentation, aggregation index of red blood cells (RBC), rigidity index of RBC, deformation index of RBC, counts of while blood cells (WBC) and RBC, mean volume of RBC, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), RBC distribution width (RDW), content of hemoglobin,mean corpuscular hemoglobin content (MCH), mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC), platelet count, mean platelet volume (MPV) and platelet distribution width (PDW) were detected when the shear rate was 200 s-1, 30 s-1, 5 s-1 and 1 s-1 respectively. ③ The above indexes of the patients with cerebral infarction were detected within 24 hours after attack (exacerbation) and at two weeks after treatment (recovery period) respectively.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The hemorrheologic and whole hemocyte indexes were compared between the two groups.RESULTS: All of the 127 cases in the cerebral infarction group entered the analysis of results at exacerbation, and 5 of them were not reexamined because of discharge and 122 cases entered the analysis of results at recovery period. All the 53 cases in the normal control group were involved in the analysis of results. ① Except RDW and MCHC, all the other indexes in the patients with cerebral infarction at exacerbation were significantly different from those in the normal control group (P＜0.05, 0.01). As compared with the normal control group, the whole blood low-shearing viscosity, whole blood low-shearing reduction viscosity, whole blood high-sheafing relative index, whole blood low-shearing relative index, plasma viscosity,hematocrit, aggregation index of RBC, WBC count and MCH all returned to normal in the patients with cerebral infarction at recovery period (P＞0.05).② As compared with the exacerbation, the RBC count and MPV were obviously decreased in the patients with cerebral infarction at recovery period (P ＜ 0.05), while the other indexes were similar (P ＞ 0.05).CONCLUSION: Abnormalities of hemorrheologic indexes commonly exist in patients with acute cerebral infarction, which indicates that the abnormalities of hemorrheologic and whole hemocyte parameters may be related to the occurrence of acute cerebral infarction.

In recent years,Wnt/?-catenin signaling has been identified as a key player in embryogenesis and human diseases.Canonical Wnt signaling pathway is controlled by a variety of classic molecules like Wnt,?-catenin,Axin,APC,GSK-3? and CK1,which interact and coordinate to regulate the expressions of cell signaling molecules.The latest evidences suggest that some components of the Wnt/?-catenin signaling,like APC,GSK-3?,CK1,Dkk2 and WISE,play dual roles different from what they have been thought previously.Here we reviewed some recent discoveries on the canonical Wnt/?-catenin signaling pathway to provide some new ideas and principles for signaling transduction studies.

Objective To study the relationship between the IgG antibody titer, the concentration of IgG subclasses in group O maternal sera and hemolytic disease of newborn. Methods By means of blood group serology assay, IgG antibody titers in 317 pregnant women who had incompatible blood group with their husbands was measured. The concentration of IgG subclasses were measured in HDN infants and their mothers, healthy pregnant women and healthy infants by ELISA. Results 1) Among 317 maternal sera, 153 cases (48.3%) were found to have IgG antibody titers higher than 1∶64, with anti-A and anti-B in 89 and 64 cases, respectively. Seventy-one (22.4%) newborns suffered from ABO-HDN, with 46 anti-A and 25 anti-B; 2) With increased numbers of pregnancy, the proportions women with greater than 1∶64 IgG antibody increased, and there was significant difference between those with one pregnancy and those with more than one pregnancies; 3) The levels of IgG antibody in HDN infants and their mothers were higher than those in control group, and IgG1 was the predominant subclass. Meanwhile, the proportion of IgG1 in infants was higher than in pregnant women. Conclusion To some couples of ABO incompatibility, IgG antibody titer and IgG subclasses should be tested in pregnant women. The incidence of HDN increases with increased antibody titers. The severity of HDN correlates positively with the concentration of IgG1 in maternal sera.

Background and purpose: In recent years, more and more clinical researches on the neuroendocrine carcinoma of the breast were carried out at home and abroad. Although there are quite a lot of the retrieved documents of NEBC at home and abroad, but large-scale reports are rare, besides, the epidemiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis were different;more research are needed to analyze NEBC. This paper mainly discussed the NEBC clinical diagnosis, treatment and prognosis. Methods: A retrospective analysis was carried out, 25 cases of Tumor Hospital Afifliated to Xinjiang Medical University from Jan. 2004 to Jun. 2013 were pathologically diagnosed as NEBC by clinical data and the follow-up. Results:The average age of 25 NEBC patients was 58.2 years old, without clinical and imaging characteristic features, immunohistochemistry staining showed that, the estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PR) positive rates were 76%and 64%. No one showed HER-2 strong positive. The follow-up was 9-115 months. Besides, 1-, 2-and 5-year overall survival (OS) rates were 100%, 95%and 88%, the disease-free survival (DFS) rates were 96%, 90%and 78%. Conclusion:The age of the patients with NEBC in this study was lower than the data abroad. Age, tumor size, pathological staging may be related to the prognosis of NEBC, and postoperative comprehensive treatment options need further study.

Objective To investigate the frequency distribution of proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin 9 (PCSK9) gene I474V polymorphisms and their relationship with patients with ischemic stroke (IS)of Uygur and Han ethnic groups in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.Methods The I474V polymorphism was identified by polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCRRFLP) in 407 patients with IS(including 219 Hans and 188 Uygurs)and 425 health controls (including 255 Hans and 170 Uygurs),and some specimens were sequenced.Results (1) Between IS group and control group,the genotypes Ⅱ and Ⅳ had no statistically significant differences in the levels of triglycerides (TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ; Total cholesterol (TC),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels had statistically significant differences; LDL-C levels had also statistically significant differences.Between IS and control groups,TC,LDL,HDL-C levels of genotype Ⅱ showed statistically significant difference.In the IS group,TC,LDL-C levels of Ⅳ genotype were significantly higher than the control group,the difference being statistically significant.(2) There was statistically significant difference in the genotype distribution between IS and control groups (9.5％ (77/814) vs 4.5％ (38/850),x2 =16.09,P =0.000).And the distribution of allele frequency was statistically different (18.9％ (77/407) vs 8.9％ (38/425),x2 =17.38,P =0.000).(3) The differences of I474V loci Ⅳ genotype frequency distribution in Xinjiang Uygurs and Hans were statistically significant (27.7％ (52/188) vs 11.4％ (25/219),x2 =17.40,P =0.000; 12.9％ (22/170) vs 6.3％ (16/255),x2 =5.57,P =0.018) ; So did the Ⅴ allele frenquency distribution (13.8％ (52/376) vs 5.7％ (25/438),x2 =15.58,P =0.000; 6.5％ (22/340) vs 3.1％ (16/510),x2 =10.44,P =0.001).(4) There was statistically significant difference in the genotype distribution and allele frenquency distribution between IS group and control group in the Xinjiang Uygurs (27.7％ (52/188) vs 12.9％ (22/170),x2 =11.79,P =0.001 ; 13.8％ (52/376) vs 6.5％ (22/340),x2 =10.44,P =0.001) ; But there was no statistically significant difference in the Hans.Conclusions Ⅱ and Ⅳ genotypes are dominant in the I474V polymorphism loci of PCSK9 gene.The genotype of PCSK9 gene I474V polymorphism is correlated with increasing serum levels of TC and LDL-C.I474V polymorphism is associated with cerebral IS course in Xinjiang region.There is statistically significant difference in the genotype I474V distribution between Uygur and Han groups.I474V polymorphism has a relationship with the occurrence of IS in Xinjiang Uygurs.Ⅳ may be a susceptible genotype and Ⅴ may be a genetic susceptible allele of the Xinjiang Uygurs.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy of warming and unblocking acupuncture in treating scapulocostal syndrome.Method Eighty patients with scapulocostal syndrome meeting the inclusion criteria were allocated by simple randomization to warming and unblocking acupuncture and conventional acupuncturegroups, 40 cases each.The warming and unblocking acupuncture group received warming and unblocking acupuncture at points Tianzong(SI11), Jianjing(GB21)and Dazhui(GV14)on the affected side and affected chest Huatuo jiaji(Ex-B2)points and uniform reinforcing-reducing acupuncture at points Quchi(LI11), Hegu(LI4)and Waiguan(TE5).The conventional acupuncture group received uniform reinforcing-reducing acupuncture at the same points as those in the warming and unblocking acupuncture group after arrival of qi.Both groupswere treated once every other day, 10 days as a course, for a total of one course.Pain severity was assessed using the Pain Visual Analogue Scale(VAS) in the two groups of patients before and after treatment.Theclinical therapeutic effects were evaluated by follow-up at one month after the completion of treatment.Result The total efficacy rate was 95.0% (38/40) in the warming andunblocking acupuncture group and 80.0% (32/40) in the conventional acupuncture group; there was a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).The PainVisual Analogue Scale(VAS) score was significantly lower in the two groups of patients after treatment than before treatment; there was a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).The VAS score was decreased more in the warming and unblocking acupuncture group after treatment and at the follow-up one month after the completion of treatment (P<0.05).Conclusion Warming and unblocking acupuncture has clinically a better therapeutic effect onscapulocostal syndrome.

Objective To discuss CT and MRI manifestations and the differential diagnosis of hepatic tuberculosis.Methods The imaging manifestations of hepatic tuberculosis proved by pathology in 2 cases were analyzed retrospectively with literatures review.The plain and contrast-enhanced CT scans were performed in 2 cases and 1 case underwent plain MRI.Results On plain CT scan,the lesion was non-homogeneous low density with even more low density in the center in 1 case,and nearly isodensity in another case.On contrast-enhanced CT scan,the lesions were no enhancement in arterial phases,and slight enhancement in venous phase and balance phase.In 1 case,slight enhancement was also shown surrounding the necrotic area.On MR plain scan,the lesion demonstrated low signal intensity on T_1WI,iso-and high mixed signal intensity on T_2WI.Conclusion Hepatic tuberculosis is rare seen,so it is easy to misdiagnosis.CT and MRI scanning can demonstrate some features of hepatic tuberculosis,especially dynamic enhanced scanning is very helpful in diagnosis and differential diagnosis.

Objective To explore the CT and MR imaging features and differential diagnosis of the prostate sarcoma.Methods CT and MRI findings of prostate sarcoma in 4 patients confirmed by pathology were retrospectively analyzed with literature review.Results All cases underwent plain CT scan and one case underwent contrast-enhanced CT scan,MR imaging was performed in 2 cases.The prostates were increased obviously in volume,the average anterior-posterior diameter was 60.5 mm in all cases,lobulated heterogeneous low-density with lowest-density in the center and the tumors were undefinitive with surrouding structures in 3 cases,1 case showed oval homogeneous low-density with sharp margin on plain CT scan.On contrast-enhanced CT,the lesions appeared as heterogeneous enhancement in periphery of prostates and no enhanced at the centre.MRI showed heterogeneous hypo-signal intensity on T1WI and miscellaneous slight high-signal intensity at center and hyper-signal intensity at periphery on T2WI.Conclusion CT and MRI are the effective methods in diagnosing the prostatic sarcoma.
