1.Loss of RASAL1:a new mechanism of ras activation in cancers
Journal of International Oncology 2009;36(11):809-811
Ras is a kind of protein closely related to neoplasms, the persistent activation of which would induce tumorigenesis and progression.RASAL1 is a Ca~(2+) regulated ras GTPase-activating-like protein, the loss or decreased expression of RASAL1 induces ras activation, then results in tumongenesis and progression. In this review we sum up the mechanism of ras activation, the relationship between neoplasms and RASAL1 and the mechanism of RASAL1 expression decreasing.

Objective To observe the real-time effect of retaining needle at Lingtai (GV 10) and Shendao (GV 11) on ST-T segment on cardiogram in patients with angina pectoris of coronary heart disease (CHD).Method Thirty patients with angina pectoris of CHD who received acupuncture at Lingtai (GV 10) and Shendao (GV 11) were divided into group A with needles retained after insertion of the needles and group B without needles retained. The two groups were observed by using 12-lead electrocardiogram (ECG) before and after treatment, to compare the ST segment and T wave atⅡ,Ⅲ, avF lead and V4, V5, V6lead before and after treatment.Result After treatment, ST segment atⅡ,Ⅲ, avF lead and V4, V5, V6lead was changed significantly in group A (P<0.05). T wave was significantly changed atⅡ,Ⅲ, avF lead after treatment in group A (P<0.05). T wave at V4, V5, V6 lead was significantly changed after treatment in both groups (P<0.01,P<0.05).Conclusion Acupuncture at Lingtai (GV 10) and Shendao (GV 11) can improve myocardial ischemia in angina pectoris of CHD; compared to acupuncture without needles retained, retaining needles after acupuncture can produce a more significant effect in improving the inferior and anterior myocardial walls and a better real-time effect on ST-T on ECG of angina pectoris of CHD.

Objective To optimize the technique of foam separation from extract of Catharsius molossus. Methods Single factor test was used to examine the key operational parameters by using enrichment ratio, recovery rate, and protein content as the evaluation indexes. Results The best conditions were as follow: airflow velocity, feed concentration,pH value, feed volume, and temperature were 600 mL/min,0.050 g/mL,pH 4,1 000 mL,and room temperature, respectively.Under the condition, the enrichment ratio was 1.56,recovery rate was 85.6%,and protein content was 20.37%.Conclusion Foam separation could be used to concentrate and separate protein from extract of C.molossus with higher recovery rate and protein content.

OBJECTIVETo optimize the preparation technology of effective fraction of Catharsius molossus, and investigate the feasibility of process control by the physical and chemical characterization of extracts.
METHODUsed single-factor test method, choosed the main effective components of peptides and amino acids as indexes, combined with theology, chemistry, electricity, and other characterization, the study researched the prepared technology of effective fraction of C. molossus including extraction, concentration, separation, purification, drying and so on.
RESULTThe optimal preparation technology of effective fraction of C. molossus was that soaked an amount of crude drugs with three times of 85% ethanol for 48 h, added 10 times of 85% ethanol, percolated in 4 mL x min(-1) x kg(-1), collected percolation liquid, concentrated to 1:1 at 50-55 degrees C, removed fat by frozen, adopted DA201-C macroporous resin, used 1 BV of water and 4 BV of 70% ethanol as eluting agent, collected eluant respectively. The water part was concentrated and dried, then washed twice with 85% ethanol, collected washing liquid and mixed with 70% ethanol eluant. The product was obtained by concentrating and dring. At the same time, the liquid-phase system of each link was characterized in preparation of effective fraction of C. molossus, which showed that the surface tension related to polypeptide was essentially unchanged, and the conductivity related to salt decreased by about 90% with ineffective substances closely related to salt The results showed that the preparation technology maximumly retained the effective information, and removed the invalid information.
CONCLUSIONThe preparation technology of effective fraction of C. molossus is stable and reliable, and the process control in physico-chemical characterization of extracts is feasible.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes in brain regional homogeneity in first-onset major depressive disorders (MDDs) using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).
METHODSEighteen patients with first-onset MDDs and twenty gender- and age-matched healthy controls underwent resting-state fMRI scans to compare the regional homogeneities of the brain regions.
RESULTSCompared with the normal controls, the patients with MDDs showed significantly decreased regional homogeneity in the left posterior cingulated gyrus, bilateral inferior temporal gyrus, bilateral superior temporal gyrus, left inferior frontal gyrus, left hippocampa gyrus, left posterior central gyrus, left angular gyrus, right amygdala, right orbital frontal gyrus, right supplementary motor area, and right cerebellar lobe.
CONCLUSIONPatients with first-onset MDDs have dysfunctions in the brain regions closed related with cognition and emotional control.

Objective To analyze the treatment of renal atrophy combined with multi-site carbapenem-resistant Kleb-siella pneumoniae(CRKP)infection, and to provide a reference for clinical rational drug use for such diseases. Methods Based on practical experience and referring to the latest literature, clinical pharmacists participated in the treatment of a case of renal atrophy complicated with multi-site CRKP infection.Recommendations were made, including adjusting the usage and dosage of meropenem, combining with polymyxin E,and timely de-escalation treatment. Results After the physician adopted the sug-gestion and adjusted the treatment plan, the patient's symptoms and infection indicators returned to normal, and the infection was effectively controlled. Conclusion Polymyxin E sodium methanesulfonate combined with high-dose meropenem had good clini-cal efficacy in the treatment of urinary tract and bloodstream infections caused by CRKP.

Objective To rapidly visualize and detect the extracellular vesicles of glial cells in a simulated space environment. Methods By using 2,5 Gy irradiation and 12,24 h microgravity treatment,a damage model of glial cells was established in a simulated space environment.Exosomes extracted from conditioned media with reagent kits were transferred to neurons to elucidate the impact of glial cells on neurons.By performing live-cell fluorescence labeling of exosomes,a visualization monitoring scheme based on fluorescence intensity analysis was developed to characterize the release patterns of extracellular vesicles. The release patterns of exosomes were represented by the fluorescence intensity of the conditioned media. The effects of different storage conditions and duration on the quantity and size of exosomes were investigated. Results The exosomes released from damaged glial cells in the simulated space environment could to some extent protect neurons, with exosomes playing a decisive role in this process, and the neurosystem exosome visualization detection scheme was consistent with the traditional exosome validation scheme. An empirical curve for exosome quantity and size was established for semi-quantitative analysis, providing a new approach for rapid detection of exosomes in cell culture media.Furthermore, the optimal storage conditions for culture medium samples were clarified, laying the foundation for ground/space-based online analysis of culture medium samples after spaceflight. Conclusion Exosome rapid detection and analysis can be achieved through fluorescence labeling and utilized to investigate glial cell injury in a simulated space environment.
