OBJECTIVE:To explore approaches on how to perfect and standardize the invitation for bid in the centralized drug stocking.METHODS:Problems in the bidding such as once bidding, dead price, contradiction between prices and quality and that between bidding and stocking of drugs were solved by applying methods such as blocky bidding, stratified bidding and approval of double-certifications,etc.RESULTS&CONCLUSION:Positive effects of invitation for bid in the centralized drug stocking should be encouraged.Invitation for bid in the centralized drug stocking should be available with the premise of giving profits sincerely and with the cooperation and harmonization of multi-sides as a guarantee. The false high drug price can be attributed to many factors, which should be fathered comprehensively.

Journal of Biomedical Engineering 2012;29(6):1052-1057
In this paper, a new method of combining translation invariant (TI) and wavelet-threshold (WT) algorithm to distinguish weak and overlapping signals of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H-MRS) is presented. First, the 1H-MRS spectrum signal is transformed into wavelet domain and then its wavelet coefficients are obtained. Then, the TI method and WT method are applied to detect the weak signals overlapped by the strong ones. Through the analysis of the simulation data, we can see that both frequency and amplitude information of small-signals can be obtained accurately by the algorithm, and through the combination with the method of signal fitting, quantitative calculation of the area under weak signals peaks can be realized.

AlM: To investigate expressions of matrix metalloproteinase-2 ( MMP-2 ) and extracellular matrix metalloproteinase inducer ( EMMPRlN) in retinoblastoma (Rb) and the relationships between MMP-2, EMMPRlN and tumor development.METHODS:lmmunohistochemical technique was used to detect expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN in 39 cases of paraffin embedded Rb samples. Quantitative analysis of expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN were assessed by measuring the mean gray scale of Rb tissue with LElCA lM50 Color Pathologic Analysis System. The differences of expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN in each clinical and pathological stage were statistically analyzed, and the same step was also undertaken to study the relationship between Rb with MMP-2 positive expression and that with EMMPRlN positive expression.RESULTS:The positive expression rate of MMP-2 was 90% (Gray value: 109. 64 ± 14. 52; 35/39), and that of EMMPRlN was 85% (Gray value:108. 01±13. 60;33/39). The expressions of MMP - 2 and EMMPRlN were significantly higher in tumors of glaucomatous stage (Gray value:108. 21±11. 47 and 107. 56±14. 32) than those in intraocular stage ( Gray value: 121. 13 ± 11. 32 and 119. 34 ± 12. 66; P<0. 01 and P<0. 05). And the same conclusion can be concluded between those in extraocular stage (Gray value: 91. 03 ± 11. 71 and 92. 26 ± 12. 93) with those in glaucomatous stage (P<0. 01 and P<0. 05). The expressions of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN were significantly higher in tumors with optic nerve invasion (Gray value:103. 89±13. 39 and 105. 23±14. 00) than those without optic nerve invasion ( Gray value: 118. 39 ± 15. 11 and 117. 53±16. 13) (P<0. 01 and P<0. 05).CONCLUSlON:The positive expression levels of MMP-2 and EMMPRlN may correlate with tumor infiltration and metastasis.

Objective To examine how stroke affects muscle coordination and whether muscle function will be improved after rehabilitation. Methods Ten stroke patients with mild hemiparesis and six age-and sex-matched controls were investigated at baseline.Velocity-encoded phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (VE-PC MRI) and surface eleetromyography (sEMG) were performed to evaluate muscle coordination of thigh muscles during knee extension and flexion and the effect of rehabilitation. Results Using VE-PC MRI,we found that the peak velocity of rectus femoris was lower in the affected limb (P

OBJECTIVETo compare 39 root samples of Angelica sinensis and A. acutiloba from China and Japan for the quality control of Chinese Angelica.
METHODAn HP-5 (0.32 mm x 30 m, 0.25 microm) column was used for the GC-MS analysis. The oven temperature was programmed from 120 degrees C to 280 degrees C at a rate of 5 degrees C x min(-1). Using principal component analysis, cluster analysis, and discriminant analysis on the sample fingerprints for chemical pattern recognition research.
RESULTZ-Ligustilide was the key principle distinguishing Chin samples from Japan. Moreover, using discriminant analysis, seven samples (four of A. sinensis, three of A. acutiloba) were validated. All samples tested were successfully classified according to their species origin.

AIMTo study the effect of montelukast on apoptosis and Fas mRNA expression of eosinophils in airway of asthmatic guinea pigs.
METHODSExperimental asthma model of guinea pigs was induced by ovalbumin. The eosinophils in broncho-alveolar lavage fluid (BALF) were separated by density gradient centrifugation. The apoptosis of eosinophils was labeled by TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling (TUNEL) technique. Fas mRNA expression of eosinophils was detected by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).
RESULTSAfter treatment with montelukast, the number of eosinophils in BALF of asthmatic guinea pigs decreased significantly. The apoptosis index as well as Fas mRNA expression of eosinophils were elevated significantly. There were statistical differences between the therapeutic group and the model group.
CONCLUSIONApoptosis of eosinophils is highly correlated with the increased expression of Fas mRNA. Enhancing expression of Fas mRNA and promoting apoptosis of eosinophils subsequentely may be an important mechanism for montelukast to antagonize airway inflammation of asthma.
