Objective To explore the clinical application of microsurgical techniques to therapy the femoral neck fracture in younger patients and prevent the necrosis of femoral head. Methods Seventy-four younger adults, age from 23 to 50,with femoral neck fractures were treated by open veducition, internal fixa- tion and pedicled bone transplantation from Jan.1995 to Dec.2004.All of the 74 patients were reviewed clin- ically and radiologically after an average of 3.2 years. Results In this group,19/74 cases(25.68%)had avaseular necrosis of the femoral head, which were diagnosised after an average of 28.5 months following inju- ry.Despite these results, these patients assessment with Harris system had been very good or good in 55/74 patients(74.32%).Conclusion It's an effective method to decrease the incidence of necrosis of femoral head after management the femoral neck fracture in younger patients by microsurgical techniques.

Sodium houttuyfonate (SH) is a derivative of effective component of a Chinese material medica, Houttuynia cordata, which is applied in anti-infection of microorganism. But, the antimicrobial mechanisms of SH still remain unclear. Here, we firstly discovered that SH effectively inhibits the three types of virulence related motility of.Pseudomonas aeruginosa, i.e., swimming, twitching and swarming. The plate assay results showed that the inhibitory action of SH against swimming and twitching in 24 h and swarming in 48 h is dose-dependent; and bacteria nearly lost all of the motile activities under the concentration of 1 x minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) (512 mg x L(-1) same as azithromycin positive group (1 x MIC, 16 mg x L(-1)). Furthermore, we found that the expression of structural gene flgB and pilG is down-regulated by SH, which implies that inhibitory mechanism of SH against motility of P. aeruginosa may be due to the inhibition of flagella and pili bioformation of P. aeruginosa by SR Therefore, our presented results firstly demonstrate that SH effectively inhibits the motility activities of P. aeruginosa, and suggest that SH could be a promising antipseudomonas agents in clinic.

Forest musk deer (Moschus berezovskii), a rare wild medicinal animal, is listed under the category of the state key protected wildlife list of China. Musk, secreted by the musk glands, is with high economic and medicinal value and used as precious traditional medicine in China. In order to meet the needs of musk in Chinese traditional medicine, forest musk deer farming was conducted in 1950s, but the research progress on musk secretion mechanism was slow. Therefore, by reviewing the histological and anatomical structure of forest musk deer musk gland, the relationship between sex hormones and the musk secretion process, and the molecular mechanism of the musk secretion, the existing problems in investigating the musk secretion mechanism were analyzed and the development trends in this field were also discussed, in order to provide a reference for further studies on the musk secretion mechanism and improve musk production of forest musk deer.

The average life expectancy in Macau is ranking the second in the world, the consumption of fresh medicinal plants is a profound culture in Macau. The paper focus on the distribution of the antioxidant herbs, a comprehensive investigation and analysis the amount of the plant resources was carried out. The antioxidant activity of alcohol extracts was determined by using the DPPH method, and six kinds fresh herbs with high antioxidant free radical activity were screened out. Reference to adult daily dose of vitamin C, it is calculated that the daily dose amount of fresh herbs is less than 200 g. For the expected shortage of resources and the ecological status of Macau, we give some suggestions of herbal introduction in population ecology reconstruction.

BACKGROUND: Revascularization of trachea following trachea transplantation needs to be solved.OBJECTIVE: To explore the empirical methods of allogeneil graft of long-segment trachea and its revascularization.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The animal observation experiment was performed at the Department of Chest Surgery, Shandong Provincial Chest Hospital between June 2007 and June 2008.MATERIALS: Totally 20 healthy, New Zealand rabbits, were provided by animal center of Medical School of Shandong University. Additional 10 rabbits were used as donors, and 10 rabbits were served as recipients.METHODS: The mucosa and smooth muscle in trachea of donor rabbits was removed, and the anular ligaments were shear opened or intensive drilling to obtain tracheal cartilage scaffold with fissure or mesh. A jejunum with vascular pedicle was harvested from recipient rabbits, which was longer than tracheal cartilage scaffold. The cartilages rings were wrapped with greater omentum. Finally, the constructed simulating trachea was replaced in the abdominal cavity. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Growth of retina and tracheal cartilage.RESULTS: Abdominal cavity of recipient rabbit was opened after 2 weeks, and it was observed with gross observation and pathological section: There was no collapse in the lumens of tracheal allografts with good elasticity tracheal wall. The blood of omentum and intestinalmucosa that wrapped tracheal allograft was circulating well; and there was no cellular necrosis and merging in xenogenic cartilagines tracheales. CONCLUSION: The study fulfilled the stage one reconstruction and revascularization of tracheal allograft in abdominal cavity of recipient. Stenopeic tracheal stand wrapped with pedicled omentum and intestinalmucosa of recipient made allograft not restricted by length, which is critical to revascularization of long-segment trachea.

Objective To explore the effects and safety of endoscopic parallel placement of double metal stents on unresectable hilar malignant obstruction. Methods The clinical data of 11 patients with malignant hilar obstructive jaundice due to advanced carcinoma who were treated with parallel placement of double biliary stents from January 2011 to September 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. Results Out of 11 patients,10(90.9%) were successfully embedded with double biliary stents and 4 were dead during the follow-up.There was no sign of stent occlusion during the follow-up period. The survival time ranges from 128 to 185 days. One case was lost during the follow-up and 5 others are still alive. Conclusion The endoscopic parallel placement of double biliary stents is effective and safe for patients with unresectable malignant hilar obstruction.

Objective To study the anti-tumor effect of anti-HER-2 engineering antibodies chA21 and Herceptin on nude mice xenografts of human ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells and explore its mechanism. Methods An animal model with human ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells involved in nude mice was established and the mice were randomized into 3 groups: normal saline(NS),chA21 and Herceptin. The mice were respectively administrated with Herceptin(30mg/kg) and chA21(30mg/kg) via caudal vein injection twice a week for consecutive 6 weeks, and then were killed after 44 days adminstration of the drugs. The volumes of the xenografts were measured twice a week. The tumor weight and inhibition ratio were measured after mice were killed.Ki67 and NF?B expression in the three groups was quantificationally analyzed by immunohistochemistry on tissue microarray sections combined with a micro-image analysing system. Results The growth of xenografts of human ovarian cancer SKOV3 cells in nude mice was significantly inhibited by either Herceptin or chA21. Both Ki-67 labeling indices and NF?B levels in chA21 and Herceptin groups were lower than those in the control(P

Aim To explore the effects of anti-HER-2 chimeric antibody chA 21 on proliferation and apoptosis of SKBR3 cells. Methods MTT colorometric assay,HE staining, transmission electron microscopy, flow cytometry, and TUNEL were used to study the proliferation inhibition and apoptosis induction of SKBR3 cells by chA 21 in vitro. Results Proliferative inhibition rates and apoptotic index of SKBR3 cells were increased in a dose and time dependent manner after exposure to chA21(0.2~5.4 mg?L~(-1)).Conclusion chA 21 could remarkably inhibit proliferation of SKBR3 cells in vitro and apoptosis induction may be one of its main mechanisms.
