Objective To explore the relationship between the expression level of p27 KIP1 and p57 KIP2 and the development and prognosis of thyroid carcinoma. Methods p27 KIP1 and p57 KIP2 expression in 6 nodular goitres, 10 thyroid adenomas and 35 thyroid carcinoma were detected by immunohistochemical method, and the relationship between p27 KIP1 and p57 KIP2 expression and clinicopathological characteristics were analyzed. Results The positive rate of nuclear expression of p27 KIP1 and p57 KIP2 in nodular goitres and thyroid adenomas was obviously higher than that in thyroid carcinomas, in papillary carcinoma and follicular carcinoma was significantly higher than that in medullary carcinoma and undifferentiated carcinoma, and in the thyroid carcinomas of stages I and II was also significantly higher that in the thyroid carcinomas of stages III and IV. The frequency of cytoplasmic expression of both p27 KIP1 and p57 KIP2 in thyroid carcinoma with lymph node metastasis was obviously higher than that in ones without lymph node metastasis. Conclusion The nuclear expression of both p27 KIP1 and p57 KIP2 in thyroid carcinoma were significantly associated with clinical stage, lymph node metastasis and local invasion. The low nuclear expression of p27 KIP1 and p57 KIP2 may indicate the poor prognosis of the patients, and the cytoplasmic expression may indicate the lymph node metastasis.

Chinese Mental Health Journal 2002;0(11):-
Objective: To study the gender differences in ERPs recorded during a recognition task for Chinese words. Methods: 15 male and 15 female healthy volunteers received a Chinese words recognition task and the EEG signals were recorded from 20 scalp sites simultaneously. The stimuli were meaningful words consisting of two Chinese characters. Results: Both men and females showed a positive-going parietal old/new effect, but females demonstrated larger P500 amplitudes and shorter P500 latency than males. Furthermore, the parietal old/new effect of males was significantly left-lateralized, while that of females showed more bilateral pattern. Only males elicited obvious frontally distributed old/new effect between 250 and 350 ms, which was negative-going and right-lateralized. Conclusion: Gender differences do exist in the recognition processing of Chinese words. Some of the gender differences could be interpreted as reflecting different strengths and speed of brain activation and others could be interpreted as reflecting the involvement of different neural structures.

Cancer is considered as one of the major diseases endangering human health in the world, it is urgent to find a safer and more efficient treatment for cancer therapy. Gene therapy with ribonucleic acid (RNA) drugs could regulate the expression of tumor related genes, and exhibit good anti-tumor therapeutic potential in preclinical and clinical trials. Based on the differences between tumor tissues and normal tissues in microenvironment signal characteristics such as pH, specific enzyme concentration or redox gradient, various microenvironment responsive nanocarriers had been studied and developed to deliver RNA drugs to tumor tissues and cells, improving the anti-tumor efficacy of RNA drugs and reducing toxic and side effects. This paper reviews the pathophysiological characteristics of tumor microenvironment and various strategies of tumor microenvironment responsive nanocarriers, in order to provide reference for the design of safe and efficient RNA drug delivery system for cancer therapy.

Journal of Central South University(Medical Sciences) 2017;42(6):617-622
Objective:To determine the plasma level of apelin in patients of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD) and to explore the relationship between apelin level and carotid atherosclerosis (AS) in MHD patients. Methods:A total of 92 MHD patients and 36 sex-and age-matched healthy subjects were enrolled in this study. The plasma level of apelin was evaluated by radiation immunoassay;serum endothelial injury markers including thrombomodulin, von Willebrand factor (vWF),and CD 146,and inflammatory factors including high sensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP),IL-6 and TNF-α were determined by ELISA.Common Carotid arteries intima media thickness (CCA-IMT),cross-sectional calculated intima-media area (cIM area) area and atherosclerotic plaque were measured by non-invasive high-resolution B-mode ultrasonography. Results:The plasma levels of apelin was significantly decreased in MHD patients compared with healthy subjects (P<0.01),accompanied with elevated plasma levels of thrombomodulin,vWF,CD 146,hsCRP,IL-6 and TNF-α (all P<0.01).The plasma levels of apelinin in MHD patients with carotid artery plaques were obviously lower than those without plaques [(43.16± 10.12) pg/mL vs (61.43±16.25) pg/mL,P<0.01].Plasma level of apelin was inversely related with CCA-IMT and cIM area (r=-0.355 and r=-0.297 respectively, all P<0.01).Multiple stepwise regression analysis showed that plasma level of apelin was an independent risk factor for CCA-IMT and cIM area. Conclusion:The plasma apelin in MHD patients might take part in vascular endothelial injury and the progress of atherosclerosis. It plays an important role in the initiation and development of uremia associated atherosclerosis through elevating inflammatory factors including hsCRP,IL-6 and TNF-α levels.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedic Trauma 2004;0(07):-
Objective To compare the biomechanical performance of three different fixation instruments for tibial fractures. Methods Fourteen fresh tibial specimens were made into models of oblique fracture.Seven models were fixed with unilateral axial dynamic fixation(UADF),and seven with limited contact dynamic compression plate(LC-DCP).After biomechanical tests had been done for the UADF group,an extra screw was used at the oblique fracture site to reinforce the fixation with extra limited internal fixation. Each model was tested for its hiomechanical performance in resisting compression, bending and rotation. Results The performance of UADF was significantly poorer than that of LC-DCP and UADF with limited internal fixation in anti-compression,an- ti-bending and anti-rotation(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the rigidity between LC-DCP and UADF with limited internal fixation(P>0.05).Conclusion UADF with extra limited internal fixation is a recommendable method for tihial fractures because it cart provide the same effective fixation as LC-DCP does.
