Using the complete genome of Plasmodiumfalciparum 3D7 which has 14 chromosomes as an example, we have examined the distribution functions for the amount of C or G and A or T consecutively and non-overlapping blocks of m bases in this system. The function P(S) about the number of the consecutive C-G or A-T content cluster conforms to the relation P(S)oce-as;values of the scaling exponent αCG are much larger than αAT; and αAT of 14 chromosomes are hardly changed, whereas αCG of 14chromosomes have a number of fluctuations. We found maximum value of A-T cluster size is much larger than C-G, which implies the existence of large A-T cluster. Our study of the width function ξ(m) of cluster C-G content showed that follows good power law ξ(m)ocm-γ. The average γ for 14 chromosomes is 0.931. These investigations provide some insight into the nucleotide clusters of DNA sequences, and help us understand other properties of DNA sequences.

Objective To investigate the expression of human bone morphogenetic protein-7(hBMP-7)in rat bone malTOW stromal cells(BMSC)with a recombinant adenovirai vector carrying the hBMP-7 gene(Ad-hBMP-7) and study the effecta of Ad-hBMP-7 transfection on BMSC difierentiation.in order to explore the possibility for hBMP-7 gene therpy.Methods The rat BMSC cultured in vitro.They were divided into 3 groups:untreated group,Ad-hBMP-7 and Ad-GFP transduced treated group.The rat BMSC were transfected by Ad-hBMP-7 and Ad-GFP. The expression of hBMP-7 was detected by RT-PCR and Western blot analysis.and the alkaline phosphatage (ALP)activity of the BMSC was observed.ResulIs In the Ad-hBMP-7 transduced treated group.hBMP-7 mRNA expression wag manifested detected by RT-PCR(470 bp),Westem blot analysis demonstrated that these cells indeed produced the hBMP-7 protein(Mr.15×103);10 days after transduction treatment,most of the BMSC were had brown black particles stained positively by ALP activity.But in Ad-GFP transduced treated group and untreated group they did not.Conclusions Ad-hBMP-7 could efficiently transfect BMSC and promote the conversion to osteoblast.The expression of hBMP-7 in rat BMSC provides a basis for hBMP-7 gene therapv.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the point prevalence of nosocomial infection(NI) and discover the problems in the management of NI in a hospital.METHODS A team of surveyors were trained to inquire history of illness,do physical examination for inpatients and collect some necessary data from medical records on a single day.Questionnaires about NI cases were filled out and analyzed.RESULTS From 1500 patients,1493(99.53%) patients were investigated,the point prevalence and case prevalence of NI were 5.69% and 6.03%;the highest prevalence appeared in internal medicine at 8.54%;lower respiratory tract infections accounted for 38.89%;the detection rate of multi-drug resistant(MDR) bacteria was 49.23%;antimicrobial utilization rate was 48.69%.CONCLUSIONS The prevalence survey is a rapid and efficient method,which could offer evidence of target surveillance of NI.

OBJECTIVE: To introduce the efficacy of three surgical options for juvenile nasopharyngeal angiofibroma (JNA) resection, and causes of operative bleeding. METHOD: Retrospective analysis of 36 JNAs,three surgical options were used to resect the tumor. There were 15 cases of Class I tumors , using endoscopic nasal cavity approach. Eighteen cases of class II tumors, via extended Caldwell-Luk incision, using the transantral-infratemporal fosse-nasal cavity combined approach for tumor resection. Three cases of class III tumors, the combined intracranial and extra-cranial approach was used to resect the tumor. Meanwhile, report six typical cases for reference. RESULT: Fifteen (15/36) cases of class I tumors, 14 cases were completely resected for the first time without recurrence, 1 recurrence case was re-resected using the same approach. Eighteen (18/36) cases of class II tumors, 13 cases were completely resected for the first time without recurrence, 5 recurrence cases were re-resected totally. Three (3/36) cases of class III were not completely removed, and underwent about 40 Gy radiotherapy with good effects. CONCLUSION Using these three surgical options can effectively remove different types of JNA. When necessary, the intracranial residue can use radiotherapy. Under direct vision to separate the tumor, and effective hemostasis play crucial roles for complete removal of the tumor.

Objective To explore the feasibility of artificial silastic framework(SF)in repair of large area of tracheal wall defects.Methods Twenty healthy adult dogs with tracheal defects for 2.5 cm?6.0 cm-3.0 cm?6.0cm were randomly and equally divided into experimental group(repaired with SF combined with sternohyoid fasciae)and control group(repaired with T-silastie tubule combined with sternohyoid fascial flap).After the operation,the animals were sacrificed at the 4th,8th,16th,24th, and 48th weeks respectively for harvesting the tracheae that were used for tracbeoscopically observing in- flammatory reaction of the repaired defect area and light microscopically observing epithelium healing on the repaired defect area.Results In the experiment group,the repaired trachea was smooth,without proliferation of granulation;and at the 8th week,the repaired defect area was covered with epithelial cells,with good functional recovery of respiration,phonation and deglutition.In the control group,there was obvious proliferation of granulation on the tracheal surface near anterior and posterior ends of T-silas tic tubule.The animals were under asphyxia to die with extraction of T-silastic tubule.Conclusions SF has excellent tracheal skeletal function.In the meantime,SF combined with sternohyoid fasciae is a simple but effective method for repair of large area of tracheal wall defects.

OBJECTIVE:To prepare paeonol-HP-β-cyclodextrin (PAE-HP-β-CD) inclusion compound and to optimize its pre-scription technology. METHODS:PAE-HP-β-CD was prepared by freeze drying method and validated. Using inclusion rate as in-dex,main drug-accessory ratio,inclusion time,inclusion temperature and stirring speed as factors,the preparation technology was optimized by central composite design-response surface methodology. RESULTS:Prepared PAE-HP-β-CD underwent phase transfor-mation. The optimal inclusion technology was as follows as main drug-accessory ratio of 3.39∶1,inclusion temperature of 50 ℃, inclusion time of 3.2 h, stirring speed of 350 r/min. Relative error between measured value (87.46%) and predicted value (89.12%) of inclusion rate was 1.86%(n=6). CONCLUSIONS:PAE-HP-β-CD inclusion compound is prepared successfully, and its prescription technology is stable and feasible.

ObjectiveTo identify differential genes of malignant melanoma using gene chip expression profiles.MethodsAgilent Human 1A OligoDNA was employed to find out difference in gene expression between malignant melanoma and nevus. The total RNA was isolated from two type tissues, labled the fluorescent to the probe, hybridized, washed and analyzed.ResultsAmong the 21073 target genes, 1596 genes were differentially expressed in malignant melanoma, including 733 genes up-regulated, and 863 down-regulated.ConclusionThe gene chip technique can screen genes that may be specifically expressed in malignant melanoma.

OBJECTIVE: The study was carried out on application of CODIS loci (FGA, vWA, CSF1PO, TH01, TPOX, D3S1358, D5S818, D7S820, D8S1179, D13S317, D16S539, D18S51 and D21S11) in 100 cases of excluding paternity. METHODS: The PCR amplified products of Profiler Plus and Cofiler amplification kit were injected into a capillary on the ABI PRISM 310 Genetic Analyzer. GeneScan software analyzed the collected data, which can then be imported into Genotyper software for genotyping of alleles. RESULTS: In the group of Mother-Child-Alleged Father, more than 3 STR loci incompatibilities between alleged father and child were found in all observed cases, the mean incompatibility was 6.63; In the group of Alleged Father-Child, 94.0% of all cases observed was found more than 3 STR loci incompatibilities, the mean incompatibility was 5.01. CONCLUSION The results showed that CODIS loci had good application to excluding paternity, and the choice of hyperpolymorphic markers in investigation, which were valued by DP, H and PE, had direct relation with the augmentation of incompatibilities in excluding paternity.
