Purpose:To study the efficacy and toxicity of g emcitabine/cisplatin(GP) and gemcitabine/carboplatin(GC) in patients with advanc ed non-small-cell lung cancer(NSCLC). Methods:patients for GP: gemcitabine 1 000 mg/m 2,days 1 a nd 8 plus cisplatin 30 mg/m 2 days 1-3 or GC:gemcitabine 1 000 mg/m 2 , days 1 and 8 plus carboplatin AUC=5 day 1. Cycles were repeated every 3 weeks. Results:54 patients to GP and 52 to GC. The objective response rate(CR+PR)was 48.1% for GP and 44.2% for GC. No significant differences between arms were observed in response rate. No significant differences between arms we re observed in median time to progression(6.8 months GP, 6.2 months GC).GP arm h ad a remarkably higher incidence of grade nausea/vomiting Ⅲ-Ⅳ than GC arm(P

Objective To study the effectiveness of the complete ureterel reconstruction using bladder flap after cadaveric renal transplantaion.Methods In 13 recipients with complete necrosis of ureter after renal transplant from July 1995 to October 2003, tubelike bladder flaps were applied to ureteraplasty substitute for the necrosis ureter. Artificial pyeloureterostomy was performed and double T tubes were used as the stents. Routine drainage-tubes were placed in incisions. Results All patients were successful in ureteral reconstruction. The renal function of 10 patients was improved significantly 4 weeks postoperation. Nephrectomy was performed in one patient because of severe circumrenal infection 7 days after operation. One-year survival rate of recipients and allografts was ~100 % (13/13) and ~92.3 % (10/13) respectively. Urine reflow occurred in 2 patients during a follow-up of 12 months. Conclusion The use of bladder flap for ureteral reconstruction is an effective technique for total autograft ureteral necrosis.

A strain of Cellulosimicrobium cellulans Ha8 was studied on its morphological, biological characteristics and its utilization of several kinds of benzoic compounds, the results showed this strain was Gram-positive, the long rod-shaped cells were changed into short rod-shape gradually. pH value from pH 6.0 to pH 9.0 and the temperature from 20 ℃ to 40 ℃ were good for its growth. It could not only hydrolyze protein and starch, use cellulose and pectin, decomposite chitin, liquify gelatin and fix nitrogen, but also use phenol, xylene, benzoic, cinnamic acids and diphenlamine as the sole carbon resource for its growth. It could tolerate 0 mmol/L~30 mmol/L, 0 mmol/L~8 mmol/L, 0 mmol/L~30 mmol/L, 0 mmol/L~15 mmol/L and 0 mmol/L ~ 40 mmol/L of benzoic acids, phenol, xylene, cinnamic acids and diphenlamine seperately, but could not use 2,4-dinitrophenol, o-Nitrophenol, 2-Methoxyphenol, aminobenzenesulfonic acid, catechol and o-Phenanthroline as its sole carbon resource.

Chlamydial infection in human urogenital tract induces inflammation and causes tissue damage and scarring. It is thought that cytokine production by the Chlamydia-infected cells plays a key role in chlamydial disease processes. Although many cytokines have been detected during chlamydial infection, little is known about the molecular mechanisms on how Chlamydia triggers and sustains the inflammatory cytokine cascades. In the current study, chlamydial infection of the human cervical epithelial cell line HeLa cells can induce the production of IL-8, IL-1α, IL-1β and IL-6. Using inhibitors for probing intracellular kinase signaling pathways required for the Chlamydia-induced cytokines, it was found that the Chlamydia-activated MAPK / P38 pathway is required for the chlamydial induction of IL-1α and IL-6 while both the Chlamydia-activated MAPK/ERK and MAPK/P38 pathways contribute to the production of IL-8.

Objective To investigate correlation between post-stroke depression (PSD) and multiple factors during onset of acute cerebral infarction. Methods Depression was measured with Hamilton Depression Rating Scales (HAMD) in 58 patients with acute cerebral infarction, and their neurological function were evaluated by neurological function defect (NFD) score. Their immunoglobulin G (IgG) index was calculated and level of nitric oxide (NO) in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) was measured. Lesion and nature of cerebral infarction in 58 patients with acute stroke were located by CT. All the data were statistically analyzed with student-t test and ? 2 test, as well as linear regression model. Results Seventeen of 58 patients of stroke appeared PSD with an occurrence rate of 29.3%. The feasibility of using cord blood mesenchymal stem/progenitor cells (CB-MSPCs) to regenerate cardiomyocytes and the optimal inducing conditions were investigated. The CB mononuclear cells were cultured in low serum DMEM medium to produce an adherent layer. After expansion, the adherent cells were added into cardiomyocyte inducing medium supplemented with 5-azacytidine. Cardiogenic specific contractile protein troponin T staining was performed to identify the cardiomyocyte-like cells. The results showed that the frequency of CB-MSPCs clones in CB mononuclear cells was 0.5 x 10(-6) and about 1.3 x 10(7)-fold expansion was achieved within 20 sub-cultivation. After cardiogenic induction, 70% CB-MSPCs was differentiated into cardiomyocyte-like cells. It was indicated that low serum culture could expand CB-MSPCs extensively and the expanded CB-MSPCs could be induced to differentiate into cardiomyocyte-like cells in high efficiency.

?AIM: To investigate NO levels in tears and anterior chamber inflammation after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation with trabeculectomy through different operative incisions.?METHODS: Totally 49 patients ( 50 eyes ) with primary acute angle - closure glaucoma and cataract were randomly divided to single-incision group and double-incision group. Both were treated by phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation and trabeculectomy after routine IOP-lowering drugs treatment. Preoperative and postoperative NO levels in tears were compared, and the aqueous flare and cells were examined using a laser flare-cell meter ( LFCM) .?RESULTS:Postoperative tear NO was 9. 86±0. 78μmol/L in single-incision group , it was 9. 13 ± 0. 67μmol/L in double-incision group, the differences was statistically significant(t=3. 57,P<0. 05). Postoperative aqueous flare values was 62. 42±18. 16 pc/ms in single-incision group;it was 52. 20 ± 17. 57 pc/ms in double-incision group, the differences was statistically significant(t=2. 02, P<0. 05).?CONCLUSION: The early inflammatory injury of double-incision was significantly lower than that of single -incision. It has the advantages of safety. But the surgical skill should be improved to less the injuries caused by operations.
