1.Treatment of locally advanced breast cancer with breast-conserving therapy after neoadjuvant chemotherapy: Report of 31 cases

12 months postoperatively,and excellent results were obtained in 16.0% of the patients((4/25)),good in 40.0%(10/25),and poor in 44.0%(11/25). Conclusions For patients with locally advanced breast cancer previously treated with downstaging neoadjuvant chemotherapy,breast-conserving therapy offers satisfactory results.Strict adherence to technique and use of postoperative irradiation and systemic therapy are crucial to breast-conserving therapy.
2.Conservative surgery for the treatment of breast cancer:Analysis of 148 cases

Objective To investigate the therapeutic procedures,indications and efficacy of breast-conserving therapy (BCT). Methods BCT was carried out in 148 patients with breast carcinoma in this hospital from January 1996 to October 2003.There were 5 patients in stage 0,85 patients in stage Ⅰ,55 patients in stage Ⅱ,and 3 patients in stage Ⅲ.The surgical treatment was quadrantectomy or local wide excision of tumor,combined with axillary lymph node dissection.Routine adjuvant irradiation,chemotherapy and hormone therapy were given postoperatively. Results Pathological examinations of breast specimens found no positive margins.Follow-up observations for a median of 54 months (range,2 ~ 84 months) revealed a local recurrence rate of 2 7% ( 4/148 ;3 patients in breast and 1 patient in axillary fossa).Distant metastasis occurred in 5 patients (3 4%) and 3 of them died.Sites of metastasis included lung,liver,meninges and bone.The duration from surgery to distant metastasis was 6 ~ 43 months.Evaluation of cosmetic results in 108 patients who had received BCT for at least 12 months showed that good outcomes were achieved in 32 4% of the patients (35/108),fair outcomes,in 49 1% of the patients (53/108),and poor,in 18 5% (20/108). Conclusions For patients with early stage breast carcinoma,and part of those with local advanced breast cancer who have received neoadjuvant chemotherapy and gotten downstaging effects,the effects of BCT is satisfactory.Standard excision,postoperative irradiation and systemic combination treatment are crucial to BCT.Most patients receiving BCT have good cosmetic results.

Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a serious threat for human health, the incidence of HCC in China accounts for more than 50% worldwide. There is an urgent need to develop novel anticancer agents for the treatment of HCC patients. Here we characterized the inhibitory effect and the molecular mechanism of protopine on HCC cancer cells. The results of a CCK-8 assay indicated that protopine displays anticancer activities on HCC cells. Flow cytometry and JC-1 staining confirmed that treatment with protopine decreased the mitochondrial membrane potential and induced apoptosis in HCC cells.

Preoperative diagnosis of biliary obstruction mainly depends on imaging examination.Percutaneous transhepatic cholangiography (PTC) is a common method in detecting biliary obstruction.PTC combined with computed tomography (CT) could enhance the diagnostic rate.From April 2009 to April 2011,8 patients with biliary obstruction were admitted to the Shenzhen Hospital of Peking University.Contrast solution (30 ml of iodine solution at a concentration of 1.5% -2.0%)was injected through a PTC tube,and then CT scan was performed.An iohexol contrast solution at a concentration of 300 mgl/ml was injected at a dosage of 1.5 ml/kg and at 3-5 ml/s,then the arterial phase,venous phase and delayed phase were scanned.The original data were uploaded to Vitrea 2 workstation for multiplane reconstruction,maximum intensity projection and volume rendering.The procedure was successfully performed on all patients,and the position of the biliary obstruction was identified in 7 patients.Five patients were diagnosed as with hilar cholangiocarcinoma,1 with sclerosing cholangitis and 2 with adenoma of the distal common bile duct.The patients' symptoms were alleviated after percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage.
7.Effect of uighur medicine abnormal savda munzip on human hypertrophic scar fibroblasts in vitro.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate in vitro effect of abnormal savda munziq (ASMq) on the proliferation and apoptosis of human hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSFs).
METHODSHSFs were divided into six groups to receive different treatments as group A (blank control group), group B-E (ASMq in different concentration), and group F(5-Fu). Each group contains six specimens. The HSFs were cultured in vitro. After culture for 48 hours, the CCK8 test and flow cytometry methods were used to detect the proliferation, cell cycle and apoptosis.
RESULTSThe proliferation of HSFs in the B, C, D and E groups was inhibited at G2/M period, while it was inhibited at G0/S period in group F (P < 0.05). The inhibition effect of ASMq (0.1-1.0 mg/ml) on the fibroblasts enhanced in a concentration-dependent manner. Flow cytometry analysis with annexin V-FITC and PI staining confirmed the apoptotic. When HSFs were exposed to ASMq at 1.0 mg/ml (group E) for 48 h, the percentage of apoptotic cells increased to (43.7 +/- 2.58)%, which was significantly higher than that of blank control group (2.2 +/- 0.59)%. The induced apoptosis effect was also increased in a concentration-dependent manner.
CONCLUSIONASMq has a inhibitory effect on the proliferation and an enhancement effect on the apoptosis of fibroblast. ASMq could be used as an effective drug for treatment of hypertrophic scar.

8.The prevalence of bullying behaviors among urban middle school students in 18 provinces, China

Objective To find out the prevalence of bullying behaviors among urban middle school students in China. Methods An anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted among middle school students selected by multiply stage cluster random sampling in 18 provinces in China. 187 328 self- administration questionnaires were finished by students from grade 7 to 12 in urban middle school(male,86 472; female, 91 106), in which 177 578 were valid. Results Bullying was common in urban middle school students in China. Multiple bullying behavior also existed. About 66.1% of boys and 48.8% of girls suffered from one or more kinds of bullying; 8.1% of boys and 2.9% of girls suffered from four or more kinds of bullying. Boys were more likely to be bullied than girls. Malicious teasing was the most common bullying behavior(43.2%), followed by sexual bullying behavior(27.0%). In addition to malicious teasing and sexual bullying, the prevalence of other types of bullying declined when the grade was increasing. Residential students were more likely to be maliciously teased, excluded or isolated and sexual bullied than non-residential students. Students from single-parent or recomposed-families were more likely to be bullied than other students. Male and ordinary school students, students living with single or step-parents were more likely to suffer multiple bullying behaviors at the same time. Conclusion The suggesting among students was associated with personal, familiar and social factors, mobilize more social forces and comprehensive actions to be taken to prevent bullying among students.

Objective To study the dynamic changes of cytokines including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-?),interleukin-6 (IL-6),IL-8 in serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of asphyxia neonates,and to analyze the relationship between cytokines levels and severity of brain damage and neurological outcome. Methods The concentrations of TNF-?,IL-6,IL-8 in serum and CSF were measured by radioimmunoassay in 63 asphyxia neonates. Neurological development was evaluated at 12 months by children′s developmental scale of china.Results The serum concentrations of TNF-?, IL-6,IL-8 were significantly higher in asphyxiated neonates than those in the controls,and they were correlated with the degree of encephalopathy. The level of serum TNF-? was hig-(hest) at the first day and IL-6 was highest at the third day. There was no marked dynamic changes within 5 days in serum IL-8 level. The concentrations of TNF-?,IL-8 in CSF were higher at the first and the third day.The dynamic changes of IL-6 in CSF were similar in serum and they were positively correlated. The serum concentration of IL-6 in severe brain injury group was much higher than those of normal and mild group.The CSF concentration of IL-6 in severe brain injury group was much higher than that of normal group. The CSF concentration of IL-8 in severe brain injury group was much higher than those of the normal and mild group. Conclusions The concentrations of TNF-?,IL-6 and IL-8 are increased both in serum and CSF in asphyxiated neonates which are correlated with severity of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy. Cytokine-mediated inflammatory reactions may participate in the mechanism of hypoxic-ischemic brain injury after asphyxiaion.The concentration of IL-6 in serum and IL-6, IL-8 in CSF are correlated with the neurological outcome.

The first genetic linkage map of Salvia miltiorrhiza was constructed in 94 F1 individuals from an intraspecific cross by using simple sequence repeat (SSR), sequence-related amplified polymorphism (SRAP) and inter-simple sequence repeat (ISSR) markers. A total of 93 marker loci in the linkage map, consisting of 53 SSR, 38 SRAP and 2 ISSR locus were made up of eight linkage groups, covered a total length of 400.1 cm with an average distance of 4.3 cm per marker. The length of linkage groups varied from 3.3 -132 cm and each of them included 2-23 markers, separately. The result will provide important basis for QTL mapping, map-based cloning and association studies for commercially important traits in S. miltiorrhiza.
