The nuclear transcription factor nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (NRF2) plays a crucial role in maintaining cellular redox homeostasis. The aberrant NRF2 signaling confers enhanced antioxidant capacity, which is linked to tumor progression and therapeutic resistance. The current study investigates the biological effects and molecular mechanism of tribbles homolog 3 (TRIB3), a stress-induced protein, in regulating cell survival and apoptosis in lung cancer. This study first performed the RNA sequencing data analysis with 576 lung adenocarcinoma patients from the cancer genome atlas (TCGA) database. The NRF2- antioxidant response element (ARE) signature was enriched in patients with high TRIB3 expression. Dual-luciferase reporter assay and real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were used to confirm the effect of TRIB3 on the kelch-like ECH-associated protein-1 (KEAP1)-NRF2 pathway. Objective To investigate the expression of platelet derived growth factor(PDGF) in small bowel transplantation of rats. Methods Isogeneic and allogeneic small bowel transplantation were performed in rats by microsurgical technology. All rats were divided into two groups:isogeneic control group and allogeneic test group.Transplanted tissues were test on 7th,28th and 90th after surgery.Positioning using immunohistochemical method the expression of PDGF.Real time PCR and immunohistochemical staining were also performed to detect the expression of PDGF.Results The unique feature including intestinal graft fibrosis was showed in tissues.Immunohistochemistry results showed PDGF expression was higher in intestinal glands.PDGF mRNA levels in transplanted tissues showed a gradual upward trend, and the top levels is in POD90.Conclusion PDGF expression was significantly higher in the late of intestinal transplantation, which showed an guideline for chronic rejection of intestinal transplantation.

The active copper-containing carbon nanodots were prepared by hydrothermal method, and then characterized by fluorescence spectroscopy and UV-visible absorption spectroscopy.Subsequently, a highly sensitive and selective electrochemical biosensor was fabricated on the basis of this synthesized carbon nanodots with electro-deposition technique. The electrode behavior was investigated by cyclic voltammetry, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, and differential pulse voltammetry.Furthermore, the catalysis mechanism was studied. The experimental results indicated that the biosensor exhibited a strong electrocatalytic activity toward the oxidation of uric acid (UA).What′s more, the interference from ascorbic acid and dopamine was eliminated effectively.Under the optimum conditions, there were linear relationships between the anodic peak current and the concentration of UA (1.00-300.0 μmol/L), and the limit detection was 0.30 μmol/L (S/N=3).The prepared biosensor had advantages such as easy fabrication, strong anti-interference ability, high sensitivity, and wide detection range, and could be used for real sample detection.

Objective To describe the characteristics of sexual debut among college students in China to provide appropriate sex education in that population. Methods An anonymous questionnaire survey was conducted among 33 653 college students selected by multi-stage stratified cluster sampling method in 18 provinces and cities of China. Results The percentage of students who had initiated sexual intercourse before age 14 was 1.9%. Overall, male students (2.8%) were significantly more likely to have initiated sexual intercourse before age 14, than female students (1.1%). The percentage of students who had initiated sexual intercourse from age 15 to 18 was 6.4% in males versus 2.1% in females. while the rates of students who had initiated sexual intercourse after age 19 were 6.9% in males and 2.6% in females. The first sexual intercourse was significantly associated with parental educational attainment, geographic location and family structure. Students whose parents were relatively well educated, living in the western areas of the country China, or with nucleus/extensive families were more likely to have early sex in their puberties. Conclusion Sexual education should be strengthened especially in the western areas, and targeted on the students whose parents with relatively higher educational background or who were from extensive families.

From original concept and literature of acupoint, the concept and clinical significance of ashi method is discussed, which clarifies that the essence of ashi method is to locate the acupoints by patients' sensitivity on force. The clinical application of heat-sensitive moxibustion has illustrated that positioning method of this therapy is based on the appearance of heat-sensitive moxibustion sensation. Although both types are based on patients' feeling, positioning method of heat-sensitive moxibustion stands on a new angle and uses a new method to locate acupoint. Therefore, it is believed that the positioning method of heat-sensitive moxibustion is the inheritance and development of ashi method.

9.Small ubiquitin-like modifier protein-specific protease 1 and prostate cancer.
Asian Journal of Andrology 2009;11(1):36-38
Small ubiquitin-like modifier protein (SUMO) modification is a highly dynamic process, catalyzed by SUMO-specific activating (E1), conjugating (E2) and ligating (E3) enzymes, and reversed by a family of SUMO-specific proteases (SENPs). There are six members of the human SENP family, and each SENP has different cellular locations and substrate specificities. However, the precise roles of SENPs in cellular processes have not been elucidated to date. This brief review will focus on recent advances pertaining to the identified targets of SENP1 and its potential role in prostate cancer.

Biomedical and Environmental Sciences 2015;28(9):687-690
To assess the neurotoxic effects and redox responses of Aroclor 1254 (A1254) on perinatally exposed rat offspring, A1254 was administered by gavage from gestational day (GD) 6 to postnatal day (PND) 21. Neurobehavioral development, antioxidant enzyme activities, lipid peroxidation (LPO), nitric oxide (NO), and NO synthase (NOS) levels were analyzed in the offspring. Neurobehavioral development analysis revealed delayed appearance of the righting reflex, negative geotaxis, and cliff drop test responses in A1254 exposed group. Developmental A1254 exposure also caused oxidative stress in the brain of PND 22 offspring via reductions in the activity of SOD and GSH-Px, and by promoting a rise in the levels of NO and NOS.
