Journal of Third Military Medical University 1983;0(03):-
Objective To study the electrophysiological characteristics of early-differentiated neural stem cells(NSC)in embryonic rats. Methods NSC were isolated from hippocampus of embryonic rats and cultured. The cells were plated onto poly-llysine hydrochloride glass cover-slips for 1 h or differentiated for 1-3 d in a differentiation medium.Whole cell patch-clamp technique was used to record the voltage-gated ion channel current. Results No inward Na+ current was detected in any undifferentiated NSC.One day after induction of differentiation, the cells exhibited a voltage-gated Na+ current, but could not induce an action potential. Two types of outward K+ current(delayed rectifier K+ and transient K+ current) and inward T-type Ca2+ current were detected in NSC and early-differentiated NSC.Conclusion The functional expression of Na+ current is a marker of early differentiation of NSC following cell cycle exit.Early differentiation of NSC is an important development stage of their ion channels.

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2000;0(S1):-
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of Leprosy Elimination Compaigns (LEC) integrated with routine case- finding of leprosy in the high leprosy- epidemic areas in Yunnan, Guizhou and Sichuan Provinces. Methods Extensive health education of leprosy in the community, training of paramedical workers on leprosy, clue survey and contact survey were carried out to make diagnosis and provide treatment. Results A total of 122 new leprosy cases were detected in 6 high leprosy- epidemic counties through LEC in 1999 with a detection rate of 3.7/100 000, but in contrast, the annual number of newly detected leprosy cases was 67 cases with an average detection rate of 2/100 000 during the period of 3 years before LEC. Among the newly detected leprosy cases, about 47% were leprosy household contacts. Conclusion LEC combined with routine activities of case finding can improve the detection of the back- log cases in the communities. In the high epidemic areas, especially in the remote and difficult- to- access areas, majority of leprosy cases can be detected through combining active and passive case- finding methods, providing extensive health education, improving leprosy services in skin clinic, leprosy contact and clue surveys.

Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2000;0(S1):-
Objective To analyze the detection modes of leprosy and their influencing factors and outcomes. Methods Based upon the nationwide registration of leprosy patients detected during 1981~ 1998, the profiles of these patients at detection were studied. Results The proportions of cases significantly correlated with calendar years in the detection by dermatologic clinic, contact check, clue survey and mass survey, showing a significant increases in percentage of cases detected through dermatologic clinic and contact check and decreases through clue survey and mass survey. Detection of leprosy cases through dermatologic clinic and voluntary reporting became the main modes of case- finding during 1997- 1998, accounting for 37.3% and 28.6% respectively, whereas contact check only accounted for 9.1% . More MB patients were detected by voluntary reporting than PB, whereas detection by dermatologic clinic resulted in a significantly higher proportion (38.0% ) in PB patients than in MB (33.5% ). The voluntary reporting and clue survey resulted in higher proportions of detection in prefecture and county rural areas. In areas with good facilities of dermatologic services, significantly higher extent (75.9% ) of cases were detected through dermatologic clinic, whereas the voluntary reporting and clue survey were main modes of case detection in endemic areas. A great majority of cases were confirmed by leprosy units even though they were detected by various modes. Only 6.5% of leprosy cases were detected and consequently confirmed by doctors in dermatologic clinics. Conclusion This study emphasizes the importance of providing training on leprosy to the doctors in dermatologic clinics while continuously encouraging their involvement in leprosy control.

Journal of International Oncology 2013;40(11):820-823
Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2),the rate-limited enzyme that converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandin, has been found overexpression in many malignant tumors. The overexpression of COX-2 plays an important role in tumor genesis and progression and is closely associated with tumor prognosis,so this enzyme has become one of the potential therapeutic targets.Experimental studies reveal that selective COX-2 inhibitors can enhance the tumor radiosensitivity through a variety of molecular pathways and have a protective effect for normal tissues.Selective COX-2 inhibitors are promising radiotherapy modifiers and the underlying molecular mechanisms still need to be further studied.

Objective To investigate effect of polymorphism of apolipoprotein E (APOE) gene on early apoptosis of astrocytes after hypoxic injury. Methods Astrocytes separated from APOE wild mice and APOE transgenic mice (ε3,ε4) were primarily cultured, and then purified and identified.Models of astrocyte hypoxic injury were set up by hypoxia.Morphological changes of astrocytes and mitochondria were observed by transmission electron microscope.Early apoptosis rate and changes of mitochondrial membrane potential were detected by flow cytometry. Results Cell foot process tumidness and mitochondria with irregular outline, vacuoles and irregular cristae were observed in each group by electron microscopy at six hours after hypoxia. There were no significant differences of cellular form changes among groups.Early apoptosis rate and decreasing degree of mitochondrial membrane potential in APOFε4 group were significantly higher than those in APOEε3 group and APOE wild group (P < 0.05).Conclusion Compared with astrocytes from APOEε3 group and APOE wild group, mitochondrial membrane potential in astrocytes from APOEε4 group at early period after hypoxia declines more significantly,as may be one of causes for more astrocyte apoptosis.

Purpose To investigate the expression of insulin-like growth factorIImRNA binding protein 3 ( IMP3 ) and microvessel density (MVD) in squamous carcinoma of the cervix (SCC) and analysis their relationship in SCC. Methods The expression of IMP3 and MVD was examined by immunohistochemistry SP method in normal cervical epithelium ( NCE) , low-grade cervical intraepi-thelial neoplasia (CIN-L), high-grade cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN-H) and SCC. Results (1)The positive expression rates of IMP3 in NCE, CIN-L, CIN-H, SCC tissues were 0(0/15), 0(0/11), 37.5%(9/24) and 86.0%(43/50), the difference was statistically significant (x 2 =53.345, P=0.000). IMP3 expression was significant difference among NCE and CIN-H, SCC (P<0.008 3), and that was also among SCC and CIN-L, CIN-H (P<0.008 3). (2)The MVD count was increased with the development of cervical squamous lesion, there was significant difference among those groups (F=145.968, P<0.01), and the difference was al-so statistically significant between every two groups (P<0.05). The positive expression of IMP3 and MVD count in 50 cases of SCC tissues showed statistical difference in different pathologic grade, lymph node metastasis, and depth of tumor invasion groups ( P<0.05), but didn't in different patients’age groups (P>0.05). And the positive expression of IMP3 was closely related with MVD count in SCC tissues (rs =0.323, P<0.05). Conclusion IMP3 plays an important role in the occurrence, infiltration and metasta-sis of SCC, and the abnormal expression of IMP3 may relate with the angiogenesis of tumors.
