A patient with basidiobolomycosis is reported,the clinical course described,the ultra- structural and histologic changes observed,and mycologic examination was made.The results indicated that:(1)In the course of using corticosteroids,because the inflammatory reaction was suppressed par- tially,the clinical manifestation was relatively relieved.In the loci the pathogenic fungi still grew well, and focal dissemination was observed;(2) In the course of using itraconazole,the drug exerted fungistatic and fungicidal action through the destruction of cell membranes of fungi.Meanwhile,itra- conazole also exerted a synergistic action with the defense function of the human body,resulting in an enhanced therapeutic effects.The strong acute inflammatory reaction was triggered by the destroyed fungi caused by itraconazole.Then the fungi were cleared,the lesions were absorbed and repaired.Sur- gical intervention may be helpful to remove abscesses and fibrous nodules formed in the clinical course, so as to shorten the course of treatment.

OBJECTIVE:To study improvement effect of modified mahuang chanyi decoction on allergic rhinitis(AR)model guinea pigs and its mechanism. METHODS:32 guinea pigs were randomly divided into normal group (0.9% Sodium chloride in-jection),model group (0.9% Sodium chloride injection),experimental [Modified mahuang chanyi decoction,5.18 g (medicinal materials)/kg] group and control [Fluticasone propionate nasal spray,50 μg/(guinea pig·d)] group. Except for normal group,other groups received ovalbumin 30 mg and calmogastrin 30 mg intraperitoneally to induce AR model. Except for control group,other groups were given relevant medicine intragastrically,twice a day for consecutive 15 d. Nasal symptoms of guinea pigs were ob-served and recorded,and then analyzed and scored. The protein expression of nasal mucosa SHP-1 was detected by immunohisto-chemistry,the serum contents of IL-4 and IFN-γ were determined by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. RESULTS:Compared with normal group,model group suffered from AR symptom,and nasal symptoms score was increased;and the protein expression of nasal mucosa SHP-1 and the serum content of IL-4 increased,while the content of IFN-γ decreased(P<0.05). Compared with model group,AR symptom of experimental group and control group were improved;nasal symptoms score,the protein expression of nasal mucosa SHP-1 and the serum content of IL-4 decreased while the content of IFN-γ increased(P<0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Modified mahuang chanyi decoction shows certain improvement effect on AR,and its mechanism is associated the decrease of IL-4 content and the increase of IFN-γcontent in serum.

Background Studies showed that macophenolic acid (MPA)down-regulates and inhibits the expression and secretion of tissue growth factor and inflammatory factor,and further impacts the proliferation and inflammation process.Pterygium is an inflammatory and proliferative lesion.Whether MPA has an inhibitory effect on pterygium is unclear.Objective This study was to investigate the antifibrotic effects of macophenolic acid on pterygium fibroblasts(PFBs) in vitro and discuss its mechanism.Methods Pterygium tissue was obtained from pterygium patient during the surgery.PFBs were cultured using explants and identified with vimentin immunohistochemisty.0,0.125,0.250,0.500,1.000 μmol/L MPA were added into the culture medium,respectively,and the cells were cultured in the medium without MPA as the control group.MTT colorimetry was used to find the optimization effective concentration of MPA and evaluate their inhibitory effect on PFBs,and BrdU fluorescence staining was used to assess the growth statue of PFBs.Expressions of nuclear factor-κB(NF-κB),p65 and inhibitor of NF-κB-α(IκB-α) in the cells were detected by Western blot.Results The cells was spindle in shape 3 days after cultured and showed the vortex and radial arrangement with the positive response to vimentin.With the increase of MPA,the proliferative value of PFBs (A560)showed gradually decline,with a significant difference among the five groups (F =42.874,P＜0.01).In addition,the proliferative value of PFBs (A560) significantly lowed as the prolong of MPA active time(F=26.038,P＜0.01).BrdU fluorescence staining showed a significant decrease of DNA synthesis of PFBs with the elevation of MPA dose among the five groups(F=175.279,P＜0.05),and the A560of PFBs DNA synthesis in different concentrations of MPA groups was lower than that of the control group (all at P＜0.05).No apoptotic and necrotic cell was found after MPA action by DAPI staining.The expression level of p65 in the PFBs was 0.886±0.072 and 1.542±0.124 in the MPA group and the control group,indicating a declined value in the MPA group(P＜0.05).However,the expression value of IκB-α in the cytoplasm PFBs was significantly higher in the MPA group compared with the control group(2.141 ±0.305 vs.1.559±0.267) (P＜0.05).Conclusions MPA has an inhibitory effect on the growth of PFBs,which probably is related to the arresting of NF-κB pathway.

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of Xingnao-Kaiqiao acupuncture("醒脑开窍"针法) on patients with cerebral infarction.Methods: Sixty-three patients with the disease were randomly divided into treatment group(n=32) treated with Xingnao-Kaiqiao acupuncture and control group(n=31) with(traditional) acupuncture.In addition,routine medicine therapies were given to the two groups(including(dehydration),(decrease) of intracranial pressure,enhancement of nerve nutrition and supportive treatment).(Xingnao-)(Kaiqiao acupuncture) was used and adjusted the number of points with different syndromes in the treatment group,main points were as follows: Neiguan(内关PC6),(Rengzhong)(人中GV26),Sanyinjiao((三阴交)SP6) and vice points were Jiquan(极泉HT1),Chize ((尺泽LU5)),Weizhong(委中BL40),Fengchi(风池GB20),Yintang (印堂EX-HN3),Shangxing((上星DU23)-through-Baihui)(百会GV20).Traditional acupuncture was used in the control group.Points at the upper limbs were Jianjing(肩井GB 21),Quchi(曲池LI 11),Waiguan(外关(S)51),Hegu(合谷LI 4) and at the lower limbs were Zusanli(足三里ST36),Yanglingquan(阳陵泉GB34),Huantiao(环跳GB30),Fenglong(丰隆ST40),Kunlun(昆仑BL60) etc..Acupuncture was given twice a day for 15 days in both groups.Before and after therapy,the hemorrheology,blood lipid,blood,urine,stool and biochemical routine examinations,white blood cell (WBC) count in(peripheral) blood and neurological deficit score(NDS) were(determined).Curative effects of two groups after treatment were observed.Results: After treatment,the total effective power was 93.75% in the treatment group,while it was 67.74% in the control group,the difference being significant (?~2=4.85,P

Objective To explore the difference of abstract color preference among different genders,ages and education levels of hospitalized patients with neurosis.Methods The abstract color preference test was conducted in 223 inpatients with neurosis by adopting the paired comparison method.Results (1) The color preferences order in different genders of neurosis patients tended to be consistent (U=2.606,P＜0.01),green was always the most preferred color,black was the least preferred color,the preference difference had no statistical significance (P＞0.05).(2) The color preferences order in different ages of neurosis patients tended to be consistent(x2 =20.27,P＜0.01).The most preferred color of the patients in 18-30 years old group was yellow,which in ＞ 30 years old group was green,the preference difference had no statistical significance (P＞0.05).(3) The color preferences order in different education years of neurosis patients tended to be consistent(x2 =19.49,P＜0.05).The primary school and illiteracy group preferred red,and the middle school and above group preferred green;the preference difference of orange,white and black in different educational levels of neurosis patients had statistical significance(x2 =6.325,12.491,10.445,P =0.042,0.002,0.005).Conclusion The abstract color preferences of neurosis inpatients with different genders and ages have no obvious difference.The cold and warm color preferences of neurosis patients with different education levels are different.

Objective To explore the effect of high voltage alternating electric field therapy on fracture healing in rats. Methods An animal model of cortical bone defect was successfully established in the unilateral proximal tibia of 41 rats.They were then randomized into an experimental group (21 rats) and a control group (20 rats).The animals in the experimentsl group were given high voltage alternating electric field therapy for 30 minutes daily,while those in the control group only had sham exposure to the high voltage alternating electric field therapy.Rats in each group were sacrificed at days 7,14,21 and 28 post-operation.After blood collection,the operated tibias of the rats were resected with muscle and other soft tissue removed.Bone mineral density (BMD) of the callus at the fracture point was measured using dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA).The calluses were then cut down and fixed,decalcificated and sliced for histological observation.At the same time serum osteocalcin ( OC ) and bone alkaline phosphatase (RAP) were also detected by ABC-ELISA. Results The BMD examination showed that callus BMD in the experimental group was significantly higher than in the control group at days 14 and 28.Serum OC and RAP in the experimental group were also higher at days 14 day 21,and OC was still significantly higher in the experimental group at day 28.Histological examination showed that in the early stages of bone healing hematoma absorption and organization appeared earlier in the experimental group than in the control group,with remarkable osteoblast and chondroblast proliferation.While at the later stage,bone trabeculas connection and mineralization also appeared earlier in the experimental group than in the control group. Conclusions High voltage alternating electric field therapy may promote fracture healing by accelerating hematoma absorption and organization,elevating osteoblast proliferation and differentiation as well as promoting extracellular matrix secretion and mineralization.The underlying therapeutic mechanism might be related to the increased expression of OC and RAP caused by exposure to the high voltage alternating electric field.

Objective To investigate the status of psychosomatic health on the aged in reservoir area of three gorges .Study men-tal sub-health population distribution and the related influencing factors of the aged .Methods 604 elderly of reservoir area of three gorges were investigated by using self-made general questionnaire ,Cornell Medical Index(CMI) ,Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-R Short Scale(EPQ-RSC) ,Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS) ,Activities of daily living (ADL) ,Memorial University of Newfound-land Scale of Happiness(MUNSH) .Results 14 .7% aged′s mental health was in the sub-healthy status .Older age ,low education level ,no spouse ,urban elderly people were higher in mental sub-healthy .There was significant difference between mental sub-healthy group and mental healthy group in the aspect of personality 、social support、subjective well-being、activities of daily living (P<0 .05) .Conclusion The elderly psychosomatic health status of the Three Gorges Reservoir area is good ,with low incidence of mental sub-health ,their psychosomatic health more affected by the state of mind .

Objective To study the clinicopathologieal features and expression of cyclin D1 and p53 in epithelial ovarian tumors,and to investigate the correlation between pathogenesis of ovarian cancer and epithelial borderline tumors.Methods Fifty four cases of ovarian borderline tumors and 45 cases of ovarian carcinomas from the People's Hospital,Peking University were reviewed retrospectively.The clinical data and pathological findings were analyzed.Immunohistochemical study of cyclin D1 and p53 was performed in all 99 cases.Results(1)In borderline tumors,the age of patients ranged from 14-82 (mean age=42.5)years.International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics(FIGO)stage of borderline tumors was stage Ⅰ in 48 cases,stage Ⅱ in 3 cases,and stage Ⅲ in 3 cases.In ovarian carcinomas,the age of patients ranged from 26-80(mean age=53.5)years.FIGO stage of carcinoma was stage Ⅰ in 6 cases, stage Ⅱ in 8 cases,stage Ⅲ in 26 cases,and stage Ⅳ in 5 cases.In follow-up of 54 cases with borderline tumors the 5-year survival rate was 98% and of 45 cases with carcinomas a 5-year survival rate of 51% was noted.(2)In 54 cases of borderline tumors,mucinous types accounted for 56%(30/54)and serous types accounted for 30%(16/54).There were 5 cases with micropapillary pattern,3 cases with peritoneal implants,3 cases with lymph node involvement,6 cases with microinvasion,one case with intraepithelial carcinoma,and one case with mural nodules.In 45 cases of carcinomas,serous carcinoma was the most (49%,22/45).The remainder included 3 cases of mucinous types,8 cases of endometrioid types,6 cases of transitional cell types,3 cases of mixed phenotype and 3 cases of undifferentiated types.(3) Overexpression of cyclin D1 and p53 was observed in 31%(14/45)and 56%(25/45)of ovarian carcinomas, respectively.There was a significant association between p53 overexpression and tumor grade.In the borderline tumor group,69%(37/54)had overexpression of cyelin D1 and 6%(3/54)had overexpression of p53.There were significant differences in expression of cyclin D1 and p53 between conventional serous borderline tumors and high-grade serous carcinomas(cyclin D1:91% vs 26%;p53:0 vs 58%).However, micropapillary serous borderline tumors and low-grade serous carcinomas showed remarkably similar expression of cyelin D1 and p53.Conclusions Epithelial ovarian borderline tumors are distinct from ovarian cancer in clinical progress and prognosis,and histological types.Overexpression of cyclin D1 is common in ovarian borderline tumors and low grade carcinomas.And overexpression of p53 is more common in high grade ovarian carcinomas.Conventional serous borderline tumors are distinct from high-grade serous carcinomas in pathogenesis.Micropapillary serous borderline ovarian tumors may be closely related to low grade serous carcinomas.
