1.Development and Design of Portable Sleep Electroencephalogram Monitoring System.

The growing rate of public health problem for increasing number of people afflicted with poor sleep quality suggests the importance of developing portable sleep electroencephalogram (EEG) monitoring systems. The system could record the overnight EEG signal, classify sleep stages automatically, and grade the sleep quality. We in our laboratory collected the signals in an easy way using a single channel with three electrodes which were placed in frontal position in case of the electrode drop-off during sleep. For a test, either silver disc electrodes or disposable medical electrocardiographic electrodes were used. Sleep EEG recorded by the two types of electrodes was compared to each other so as to find out which type was more suitable. Two algorithms were used for sleep EEG processing, i. e. amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG) algorithm and sample entropy algorithm. Results showed that both algorithms could perform sleep stage classification and quality evaluation automatically. The present designed system could be used to monitor overnight sleep and provide quantitative evaluation.

4.Effect of Vibroacoustic Therapy on Behavioral Problem for Children with Cerebral Injury

Objective To investigate the effect of vibroacoustic therapy on the behavioral problem for children with cerebral injury. ethods 20 cerebral injury children (aged 6~8 years) with behavioral problem judged with Conners Parent Symptom Questionnaire (PSQ) ccepted vibroaacoustic therapy. Their PSQ scores were reviewed before and after treatment. Results Comparing with the norm, the scores f conduct problems, learning problems, anxiety and impulsivity-hyperactivity were higher in cerebral injured boys, while the scores of hysical symptoms and anxiety were higher in girls. The scores of learning problem, anxiety, impulsivity-hyperactivity and hyperactivity index educed after the vibroacoustic therapy (P<0.05). Conclusion Vibroacoustic therapy can alleviate the behavioral problems of children ith cerebral injury.
5.Efficacy of photocoagulation alone or combined with intravitreal Bevacizumab for radiation retinopathy

Abstract?AIM:To evaluate the efficacy of photocoagulation alone or combined with intravitreal Bevacizumab for radiation retinopathy ( RR) .?METHODS: There were 43 patients ( 43 eyes ) with RR were collected at the Fifth Affiliated Hospital Sun Yet-Sen University between Jan.2009 and Jan.2014.Twenty-one patients received the photocoagulation treatment combined with intravitreal bevacizumab and 22 patients received the treatment of photocoagulation alone.All the patients would complete ophthalmologic examinations, including best -corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) , intraocular pressure, optical coherence tomography, fundus fluorescein angiography before and after the treatment.?RESULTS:BCVA:In monotherapy group, there were no statistically difference about BCVA before and after treatment ( P>0.05).In combined therapy group, the BCVA had been increasing gradually in 2wk, 1, 3, 6mo after treatment ( P <0.05 ). There was no significant difference about BCVA before and 1a after treatment ( P>0.05).In the comparison of BCVA in these two groups in 2wk, 1, 3, 6mo after treatment, the combined therapy group were better than monotherapy group in each time point (P<0.05), but no statistically significant difference was observed in these two groups at 1a after treatment (P>0.05).Central macular thickness (CMT):in monotherapy group, the CMT had been decreasing gradually in 2wk, 1, 3, 6mo after treatment ( P <0.05 ). There was no significant difference about CMT before and after 1a treatment ( P>0.05).In combined therapy group, the CMT had been decreasing gradually in 2wk, 1, 3, 6mo after treatment ( P<0.05 ). There was no significant difference about CMT before and 1a after treatment ( P>0.05).In the comparison of CMT between these two groups in the 2wk, 1, 3, 6mo after treatment, those of combined therapy group were thinner and difference were statistically significant ( P <0.05 ), but no statistically significant difference was observed in two groups at 1a after treatment (P>0.05).? CONCLUSION: Photocoagulation combined with intravitreal bevacizumab for the treatment of radiation retinopathy both have an effect on reducing the macular edema in a short time (6mo).But the long-term efficacy is poor.
6.Repair of ear deformity: a study of different methods

Objective To evaluate the surgical effects and influencing factors of ear malformation.Methods 408 cases were reviewed,including surgical methods and its effect in different condition of malformation,in which autogenous rib cartilage was used in reconstruction of ear.Meanwhile,349 cases(401 ears) double-lobe skin flap and 29 cases(29 ears) retroauricular groove flap were designed according to different condition of malformation.All the patients were treated with canalplasty,and 84 cases(84 ears) with mastoid process of pneumatic type were treated with tympanoplasty and canalplasty.Results months and more follow-up obtained in 335 cases (82%),and 6 months to 5 years follow-up in 273 cases(67%).Surgical effect was satisfactory,the shape of reconstructive ear was verisimilitude,and skull auricle angle was suitability;hearing was improved after operation in 335 ears,especially in 84 ears with canalplasty and tympanoplasty,but hearing was not improved after operation in 45 ears(
7.Effects of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) compound on H-Ras and p16 mRNA transcription in gastric adenocarcinoma

Objective To study the antitumor mechanism of DHA compound. Methods RT-PCR was used to investigate the effects of DHA compound on H-Ras and pl6 mRNA transcription in gastric adenocarcinoma. Results Compared with control, the content of H-Ras mRNA was decreased and the content of p16 mRNA was increased in gastric adenocarcinoma significantly after treated with DHA compound. Conclusion The transcription of H-Ras gene was decreased and the transcription of pl6 gene was increased in gastric adenocarcinoma after treated with DHA compound and thus the cancer cell growth was inhibited.
8.Mediating effect of exercise on the relationship between body mass index and health-related quality of life

Objective To evaluate the effect of exercise on the relationship between body mass index (BMI) and health-related quality of life (HRQOL).Methods A total of 1 114 participants were recruited from the Physical Examination Center of two hospitals.SF-36 was used to measure HRQOL,and the classification of sports level was done according to the subjective evaluation of participants.Results The total score of HRQOL,physical component summary and mental component summary were 76.26± 16.10,75.97 ± 16.67 and 76.55± 18.33 respectively.The results of correlation analysis were as following:the positive correlation between BMI and general health (r=0.109),vitality (r=0.116),social functioning (r=0.092),role emotional (r=0.122),mental health (r =0.145) were significant (P< 0.01).The negative correlation between BMI and PF(r=-0.07,P=0.019)was significant.The mediation effects of exercise in was relationship between BMI and general health,vitality,mental health were significant,and the mediating effect were 5.84%,9.14% and 6.58%.Conclusion This study demonstrates that mediation effects of the exercise are significant in some dimensions of HRQOL,but the direct influence of BMI on the HRQOL plays a leading role.And BMI is a protective factor under certain conditions.
10.Distribution of SHV genotypes and resistance analysis of extended-spectrum ?-lactamases-producing klebsiella pneumoniae and escherichia coli isolates in Hefei

Aim To study the SHV genotype and analyze resistance of extended-spectrum ?-lactamases (ESBLs)-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (Kpn) and Escherichia coli (Eco) strains isolated from clinical patients in Hefei during 1999~2000. Methods Ninety-eight strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae and Escherichia coli conserved by Anhui center for surveillance of bacterial resistance were collected from four general hospitals, including First affiliated hospital of Anhui medical university, Anhui province hospital, first people′s hospital of Hefei and the 105th hospital of PLA, from September 1999 to September 2000. The encoding genes of SHV ?-lactamases produced by ESBLs-producing isolates were amplified by PCR. The purified PCR products were cloned into pGEM-Teasy vectors and sequenced by sanger′s dideoxy chain termination composition method recommended by CLSI. Their resistances to 11 antimicrobial agents were tested by agar dilution. MICs of the antimicrobial agents against clinical isolates and the transconjugants were determined. Results Twenty-nine out of ninety-eight ESBLs-producing isolates produced SHV ?-lactamases. Of twenty-nine isolates producing SHV ?-lactamases, eight strains produced SHV-1, five strains produced SHV-11, eleven strains produced SHV-12, one strain produced SHV-18, one strain produced SHV-28, and three produced a novel SHV type SHV-89 (Accession No. DQ193536). All the strains had the same susceptible pattern, with the low susceptibility rate to piperacillin, ceftriaxone and cefotaxime. All the strains were susceptible to imipenem. Compared with clinical strains, the transconjugants showed higher resistance to many antimicrobial agents. Conclusions The rates of SHV ?-lactamases-producing klebstella. pneumoniae and Escherichia coli reach a high level in hospitals in Hefei. This is the first report on SHV-89 in China. The high resistance may be present in these clinical isolates in Hefei area.
