1.Discussion on Traditional Chinese Medicine Differentiation and Treatment of Cancer
World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2015;17(4):891-896
From aspects of etiology, pathogenesis, treatment and commonly used prescriptions and herbs, this paper expounded traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) theories on cancer. Compound factors such as external evil invasion, diet damage and emotional disorders were causes of cancer in TCM theories. Clinically, TCM emphasized on expelling external evil as an important part in cancer treatment. However, characteristics of different diseases should be differentiated. Great attention should be paid to strengthening the body resistance. Generally speaking, ancient TCM doctors would used tonification herbs together with toxic herbs to benefitqi andyin as well as to promote blood circulation to remove blood stasis. Thus, the deficiency and excess were both considered. And the visible masses can be reduced from all-around and multi-level. This article suggested that TCM theories had great meaning of guidance in cancer treatment for current clinical oncologists.
2.MicroRNA and nasopharyngeal carcinoma
Journal of International Oncology 2013;(5):348-350
MicroRNA (miRNA) is a class of endogenous non-coding RNA which found in eukaryotes and has regulatory function. Its size is about 20 to 25 nucleotides.Recent studies found that miRNA is closly related to the EBV,LMP1,signal transduction pathway,tumor-associated gene network, cell mitosis, tumor angiogenesis, tumor invasion and metastasis of nasopharyngeal. Therefore, studing the relationship between miRNA and nasopharyngeal will help to deepen the understanding of its pathogenesis, and also will provide new inspiration and basis for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Objective To investigate the effect of Tianqi Jiangtang capsules combined with metformin on blood viscosity, cognitive disorder in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with cerebral microvascular lesions. Methods 76 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with cerebral microvascular lesions were divided into the observation group and the control group according to odd and even numbers, 38 cases in each group. The observation group were given Tianqi Jiangtang capsules combined with metformin while the control group were received metformin alone. The clinical curative effect, adverse reactions were compared between the two groups. The total score of TCM symptoms, blood glucose, blood lipid, high-sensitivity C reactive protein(hs-CRP), hemorheology and Mini Mental State Examination(MMSE)scores were determined before and after treatment. Results The total effective rate in the observation group(89.47%)was significantly higher than that in the control group(71.05%)(P< 0.05);After treatment, the total score of TCM symptoms, FPG, 2 h PG, hs-CRP, TC, TG, LDL-C, whole blood viscosity at high shear, whole blood viscosity at low shear, plasma viscosity and hematocrit were significantly lower than those before treatment, while MMSE scores were significantly higher(P< 0.05), and the above indexes in the observation group after treatment were significantly better than those in the control group(P< 0.05).There were no significant adverse reactions in the 2 groups. Conclusion Tianqi Jiangtang Capsules combined with metformin is safe and effective in the treatment of elderly patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus complicated with cerebral microvascular lesions. It can significantly improve lipid metabolism and hemorheology, reduce blood viscosity, and alleviate cognitive disorder.
4.Effect of hypoxia on rabbit lung surface tension-surface area and pressure-volume-hysteresis
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(04):-
The influence of acute and intermittent hypoxia on respiratory mechanics in the range of tidal volume of adult rabbits was studied. All is based on the assumption that the tissue structure of lung constitutes a conservative mechanical system and hence that pressure(P)-volume(V)hysteresis is primarily a result of surface tension(r)-surface area(s)hysteresis. It was found that the lung compliance of rabbits to acute hypoxia was decreased and respiratory work increased. Compared to control group (3.5?1.1mm),the working limbs of P-V loops of acute hypoxic rabbits increased by 49% (5.2?0.6mm). Such changes could be corrected in part by appropriate intermittent hypoxia, the length of working limbs of 5-day adaptation rabbits was 4.2?1.1(P
5.Enhanced sensitization to paclitaxel-induced apoptotic effect on breast cancer cells SKBr3 by engineered antibody treatment
Chinese Journal of Immunology 1985;0(03):-
Objective:To explore the enhanced sensitization to chemotherapeutic agent paclitaxel-induced apoptotic effect on p185-overexpressing human malignant breast cancer cell lines SKBr3 by anti-p185c-erbB-2/neu engineered antibody treatment and to study its emerging mechanism. Methods:The proliferative inhibitory effect was assessed by MTS assay; Cells stained with AnnexinV-FITC and PI were used to qualify the apoptotic cell number by FACS(Fluorescence-activated cell sorting) analysis; Phosphorylation of Ser473 AKt and p65 NF-?B subunit were determined by Western blot; NF-?B-DNA binding activity was demonstrated by EMSA(Electrophoretic mobility shift assay).Results:Anti-p185c-erbB-2/neu engineered antibody rendered SKBr3 cells more susceptible to paclitaxel-induced proliferative inhibition, which further attributed to apoptotic induction; Furthermore, combination of the engineered antibody and paclitaxel also showed effective suppression of AKt/NF-?B pathway in SKBr3 cells. Conclusion:The aggressiveness of AKt/NF-?B pathway was partly attributed to its resistance to paclitaxel-induced apoptosis. Anti-p185c-erbB-2/neu engineered antibody plus paclitaxel combination rendered p185-overexpressing human malignant breast cancer cells SKBr3 more susceptible to paclitaxel-induced apoptosis by efficient suppression of AKt/NF-?B pathway.

BACKGROUND: Studies showed cellular adhesion molecule and neurotrophic factor secreted from olfactory ensheathing cells (OECs) could protect the spinal neurons and promote the regeneration of spinal axon. OBJECTIVE: To compare the competence to repair spinal cord injury between olfactory mucosa OECs and olfactory bulb OECs. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: Randomized control animal experiment was performed in the central laboratory of Xidian Group Hospital between June 2007 and June 2008. MATERIALS: Twelve male SD rats were randomized selected and divided into experiment group (n=6, 23 months old) and control group (n=6, 3 months old). They were used for in vitro culture and purification of OECs; other 30 SD rats were randomized into three groups of 10 rats each: neonatal rat olfactory bulb OECs transplantation group, normal olfactory mucosa OECs transplantation group and blank control group.METHODS: Spinal cord injury models were produced in 30 rats, which were transplanted with the neonatal rat or SD rat OECs cultured in vitro. No transplant was given in the control group. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: At 4 and 8 weeks postoperation, the Basso, Beattie, Bresnahan (BBB) score for nerve function, the evoked potential of legs and the histopathological diversify of injured spinal cord. RESULTS: Seven rats died dudng the experiment process, and the death rate was similar between groups. At 4 and 8 weeks postoperation, there was no significant difference in the BBB scores between neonatal rat olfactory bulb OECs transplantation group and normal olfactory mucosa OECs transplantation group (P > 0.05), which were both significantly higher than blank control group (P < 0.001); the BBB scores in two transplantation groups were higher at 8 weeks than at 4 weeks (P < 0.01 ). At 4 weeks postoperaUon, no animal was shown to elicit motion evoked potential, but it was present in two transplantation groups at 8 weeks, with no significant difference between two groups (P > 0.05). The blank control group had still no motion evoked potential (P < 0.001 ). At 8 weeks postoperation, more cell infiltrations were found in the injured spinal cord of two transplantation groups, while few in the control group.CONCLUSION: Both OECs dissociated from olfactory bulb and olfactory mucosa have the same ability to repair the injured spinal cord, and their effect is similar.
