Objective To explore the effect of single and multiple course dexamethasone on brain development in preterm infants.Met-hods One hundred and eighteen preterm infants delivered after 28-34 weeks′ gestation from Aug.2005 to Mar.2007 in our NICU were enrolled in this study.These infants were divided into 3 groups by antenatalcourses of dexamethasone: control group,single-course group and multi-course group.Supportive treatments were given to all 3 groups.Neonatal behavioral neurological assessment(NBNA) was conducted on expected date of delivery.Mental and psychomotor developmental index was evaluated at 3,6,12 months by using intellectual development table made at Children′s Development Center of China(CDCC).Results The score of NBNA was much higher in single-course group than that in multi-course group and control group(Pa

Objective To discuss the treatment of cranialfacial fibrous dysplasia. Methods The treatment of 10 cases of cranialfacial fibrous dysplasia was analyzed. Results The cosmetic deformity was corrected in all the cases.No new symptom of nervous system occurred. Conclusion It is important to carry out the correct surgical plan according to patients' age,location,mono-or poly-ostotic form of fibrous dysplasia,presence or absence of functional limitations,and aesthetic problem.

5.Interferon Stimulating Effect of Ciwujia Eleutherosides or Polysaccharide in S801 Leukemic Cell Cultures

S801 leukemic cell line established by our department was used as cells for interferon (IFN) induction and stimulating induction. S801 cell culture of concentration of 5-8x10~6 cells/ml was used for IFN induction and IFN titer of 3.55 Lg IU/ml was obtained by classical procedure. The IFN titer obtained S801 cell cultures after pretreatment with Ciwujia eleutherosides B. D and E or polysaccharide (PES) combined with priming procedure,then using Sendai Virus as an inducer was 10-20 times higher than that in cultures without any pretreatment. These Chinese medical herbs may be the ideal IFN helpinducers. This cell line may be applied for IFN production.

To build a reversed phase ion-pair chromatography to determination content of Dencichine from Panax notoginseng. Using Tetrabutyl ammonium hydroxide ions by the combination of reagent and HPLC method without derivatization to test the content of dencichine directly. The optimum conditions of supersonic extraction were solid-to-liquid ratio 1: 20, Continuous ultrasonic extraction: twice, each time 15 minutes; 3,500 r · min⁻¹, then centrifuging 15 minutes. Dencichine in different age, place, part and the different Processing mode were examined. The method is simple with sound separation degree and stability, which can facilitate the determination of dencichine content directly and provide the basis in quality standard of raw material.

8.Preconditioning effect of nitrate medicine on different parts of the heart and its signaling pathway

AIM: To study the preconditioning effect of nitrate medicine on different parts of the heart and its signaling pathway. METHODS: The cells from different parts of the heart (atrium, left ventricle, right ventricle, apex and the whole heart) were isolated and cultured. The cultured cells were treated with hypoxia and reperfusion, hypoxia preconditioning, 1 mmol/L L-arginine preconditioning and 5 mmol/L L-arginine preconditioning, respectively. The cell necrosis rate, cell apoptosis rate, LDH concentration in the medium, the [Ca 2+]i and PKC activity in the cells were determined. RESULTS: The result show that hypoxia and reperfusion increased the necrosis rate and apoptosis rate, enhanced the concentration of LDH in the medium and the [Ca 2+]i overload in the cells (P0.05). Infection and inflammatory response can induce the brain damage in neonate,but the mechanism involved in it has not been elucidated completely.Proposed mechanisms include inflammatory response,cytokine and free radical-mediated injury,and excitatory amino acids-induced injury.The activation of microglia and selective vulnerability of immature oligodendrocyte play an important role in the whole process.Recent researches show that the fetal inflammatory response and complex gene regulation are also involved in the infection-induced brain damage.
