OBJECTIVE:To get a clear idea about current situation and trend of the application of eye drops in hospital of Shanghai so as to provide the information for rational clinical application and development of new preparations.METHODS:The kinds and amount of commercial eye drops,used in 47 hospital in Shanghai for the years 1997～2001,were analysed and evaluated.RESULTS & CONCLUSION:The amount of consumption of eye drops was increased year by year.The new type with good quality was received by clinical physicians.

OBJECTIVE: To analyse the situation of use of therapeutic drugs for benign prostate hyperplasia(BPH) in hospitals of Shanghai and to make OBJECTIVE: evaluation as reference for production,sale and consumption departments.METHODS: To investigate the BPH drugs used in 47 hospitals of Shanghai during the 1999 - 2001 period in respect to the amunt of consumption, kinds, sum of money of consumption, DDDs and clinical evaluation .RESULTS: Consumption of BPH drugs was increasing in recent years, but kinds of drugs had no obvious change, major drugs for BPH were Finasteride, Tamsulosin and Prostat .CONCLUSION: Therapeutic drugs for BPH are common drugs, but price is very expensive.To speed up the reseach and development of drugs in our country and to advocate the use of domestic products are suggested.

OBJECTIVE:To get a clear idea about the situation of application of hypolipemic agents in hospitals of Shanghai so as to provide information for departments of production,sale and consumption METHODS:The kind,amount,sum of money and DDDs of hypolipemic agents,used in 47 hospitals in Shanghai during the period 1999～2001,were analysed RESULTS:Vastatin,Fibrate and Chinese materia medica were the most commonly used drugs;Simvastatin,Zhibituo and Fenofibrate occupied the front places in amount of consumption;The sales volume of Zocor(Simvastatin)Pravachol and Xuezhikang was at the top of list;Simvastatin,Fluvastatin,Xuezhikang and Fenofibrate revealed increasing tendency and Gemfibrozil,Zhibituo,Duoxikang and Chondroitine showed decreasing tendency in clinical use CONCLUSION:The market prospects of hypolipemic agents will be wide and bright

Rat with amputation operation stress possessed a decline of NK activity and splenocyte pro-liferation to mitogen ConA.Amygdaloid nuclei lesion could antagonize the decrease of those ofcell-mediated immunity.Further results showed that serum corticosterone and methionine-enkephahn was high in stress' rats.Amugdaloid Nuclei lesion could antagonize the increase ofserum corticosterone level,but seem no dffeet on serum methionine-enkephalin level,thereforesuggesting that it is related to ratio of corticosterone to enkephalin changed by decrease of corti-costerone that amygdaloid neuclei lesion antagonized the decline of immunogical function inducedby stress.

OBJECTIVETo observe the difference in the therapeutic effects on knee osteoarthritis (KOA) among auricular electroacupuncture therapy plus isolated moxibustion with Lingxian herbal paste (combined therapy), electroacupuncture (EA) and TDP irradiation.

METHODSEighty-nine cases were randomized into three groups. In the combined therapy group (30 cases), the auricular electroacupuncture therapy was adopted together with the isolated moxibustion with Lingxian herbal paste. The auricular points were xi (AH4), pizhixia (AT4), shenmen (TF4), etc. The Lingxian herbal paste was applied at Yanglingquan (GB 34), Dubi (ST 35), Zusanli (ST 36), Neixiyan (EX-LE 4), Heding (EX-LE 2) and Ashi points. In EA group (29 cases), EA was applied at the acupoints that were same as those in the isolated moxibustion with Lingxian herbal paste. In TDP group (30 cases), TDP irradiation was given at the affected knee. The treatment was given once every day, 10 treatments made one session and there was 1 week at the interval among sessions. Totally, 3 sessions of treatment were required. KOA clinical symptom and physical sign score and the single item pain symptom score of Lequesne index were observed before treatment and 1 week after treatment in the patients of each group separately. The efficacies were compared among the three groups.

RESULTSOne week after treatment, the total score of symptoms and physical signs of the patients in each group was reduced significantly as compared with that before treatment (all P < 0.05). The improvements in the symptoms and physical signs in the combined therapy group were better than those in the other two groups (1.50 +/- 1.57 vs 2.52 +/- 1.82, 2.63 +/- 1.97, both P < 0.05). The improvement in pain in the combined therapy group was also better than that in the other two groups (2.37 +/- 0.81 vs 2.83 +/- 0.92, P < 0.05; 2.37 +/- 0.81 vs 3.03 +/- 0.77, P < 0.01). The curative rate in the combined therapy group was 40.0% (12/30), which was higher than 17.2% (5/29) in EA group and 20.0% (6/30) in TDP group separately (both P < 0.01). The overall efficacy in the combined therapy group was superior to the other two groups (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe auricular electroacupuncture therapy plus isolated moxibustion with Lingxian herbal paste is advantageous at the total score of the symptoms and physical signs and the overall efficacy in the patients of KOA as compared with EA at the local acupoints and local TDP irradiation.

OBJECTIVE:To analyse the situation of the drugs used in hospitals of Shanghai and to make objective evalua?tion.METHODS:To make a survey of the use of drugs in47hospitals of Shanghai in period2000～2002in respect to the sum of money of sales,main kinds,amount and clinical use of the drugs.RESULTS:The trend of total consumption increased in the past three years,however,the increasing rate declined.The antibiotics occupied the front10places in sequence of the sum of money of sales.The changes in proportion of domestic,joint venture made and imported drugs were not obvious.The gap in kinds of drug consumption was narrowed between domestic and world market,however,the difference in structure was still large.CONCLUSION:Hospital should pay attention to general trend of market of drugs and intensify rational use of drugs.

Objective: To determine the 16S rDNA sequences of 36 strains of Halomonas sp. Isolated from the seawater of the East China Sea and to study their bioactivities. Methods: The 16S rDNA sequences of all isolated strains were amplified by PCR, and the obtained sequences were subjected to phylogenetic analyses using MEGA4.1 and multiple sequence alignment with Clustal X1. 8 software. MTT assay was applied to assess the cytotoxic activities of their fermentation broth; ABTS and DPPH antioxidant models were applied to test the antioxidation activities of their fermentation broth. The HLE inhibition activities of the fermentation broth were tested by a stable HLE in hibitor screening model. Results: Analysis of 16S rDNA sequence showed that the 36 strains had a high affinity (96%-99%) to the Halomonas sp. Fermentation broth of the 36 strains showed different degrees of cytotoxic activities, antioxidation activities, and HLE inhibition activities. Eleven strains inhibited the growth of HepG2 cells, with the inhibition rate ranging (4.40±1.2)%to(24.90±3.5) %; 20 strains inhibited the growth of HL-60 cells, with the inhibition rate ranging (1.70±1.1)% to (50.90±4.2) %; 7 strains showed ABTS radical scavenging capacity, with the scavenging rate ranging (4.49±2.1) % to (58.43±4.4) %; 3 strains showed DPPH radical scavenging capacity, with the scavenging rate ranging (5.68±3.7) % to (59.06±3.2) %, and 3 strains showed HLE inhibition activities, with the inhibition rate ranging (12.71±1.81)% to (71.19±5.62) %. Conclusion: All the 36 Halomonassp. Strains show different degrees of cytotoxic effects, antioxidation activities, and HLE inhibition capacities. Several strains with high activities possess the potential for medicinal application.
