Objective:To investigate the expressions of S100A4 and MMP- 2 and their correla-tions to invasiveness and metastasis in gastric cancer. Methods:The expressions of S100A4 and MMP- 2 were detected by SP immunohistochemical method in 49 cases of gastric cancer tissue and 20 cases of normal tissue. Results:The positive rate of S100A4 and MMP- 2 (59.18% 、67.35%) was significantly higher in gastric cancer tissue than in normal gastric tissue (0.00% 、20.00% ,P

Background and purpose: Epithelial ovarian carcinoma is the most malignant tumor in female reproductive system because of its resistance to chemotherapy. Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphatase (FBP1) is a rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis used to catalyze the hydrolysis of fructose-1, 6-bisphosphate to fructose-6-phosphate and inorganic phosphate, thereby inhibiting the effect of glycolysis in tumor cells. This study aimed to investigate the association between the expression of FBP1 and chemosensitivity. Methods: The expression level of FBP1 in ovarian cancer patients was measured by immunohistochemistry. Results: According to the results of immunohistochemistry in 209 ovarian carcinoma specimens, the percentage of positive FBP1 expression was about 49.3% (103/209). Loss of FBP1 was a negative factor of survival (42.6 months vs 62.1 months, P=0.003). Besides, patients who were sensitive to chemotherapy displayed significantly higher scores of FBP1 expression than patients who were resistant to therapy (P=0.007). Conclusion: The rate-limiting enzyme FBP1 in gluconeogenesis can be used as a biomarker for predicting the chemoresistance and prognosis of ovarian cancer patients.

Objective To explore the possibility of using the mammotome system (MMT) with 2.5 cm spiral cutting mode to resect benign tumor of 3-6 cm in diameter. Methods The study group consisted of 160 patients with tumor of 3-6 cm in diameter, who received treatment of MMT cross combination with parallel rotary cutting method. The control group consisted of 160 patients with tumor < 2.5 cm and received routine MMT operation. The therapeutic effects and complications of the two groups were compared.Chi-sqare test was used for statistical analysis. Results All operations were successful on MMT.There was no statistical difference in intraoperative bleeding, skin ecchymosis and postoperative hematomas between the two groups(x2 =0.251 8,P =0.616;x2 =0.328 2,P =0.567 ;x2 =0.146 3,P =0.702).The hospitalization duration, the operation scar and other complications were similar between the two groups. Conclusions The MMT cross combination with parallel rotary cutting method can be used to resect 3-6 cm benign breast tumors. It has the advantages of safety, efficiency, minimal invasiveness, covertincision, good cosmetic effect and low complications.

Objectiye To study the mechanism by which transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) affects cognitive dysfunction in vascular dementia (VD). Methods Thirty-six male Wistar rats were randomly divided into a control group, a VD group, a low frequency rTMS group and a high frequency rTMS group. Two-vessel occlusion was employed to induce VD models. Low frequency rTMS group rats were given 0.5 Hz rTMS for six weeks. High frequency rTMS group rats were given 5 Hz rTMS for six weeks. Morris' water maze test was used to measure their spatial learning ability and memory. The ultrastructures of the synapses in the four groups were detected with transmission electron microscopy. The expression of synaptophysin (SYN), brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and Nmethyl-D-aspartate receptor 1 ( NMDAR1 ) mRNA and protein in the hippocampus were determined by real-time PCR and Western blotting. Results The behavior and morphology of the rats treated with rTMS improved. The average expression of SYN, BDNF and NMDAR1 mRNA and protein in the low frequency rTMS group and the high frequency rTMS group were significantly higher than in the VD group. Conclusion rTMS can provide a rehabilitative effect for VD. The mechanism might be associated with enhancing the expression of SYN, BDNF and NMDAR1 in the hippocampus.

Until now, more than seventeen parvovirus have been reported which can infect mammals and poultries. The infected cells appeared different properties of apoptosis and death, present a typical cytopathic effect. NS1 is a major nonstructural protein of parvovirus, with a conservative structure and function, which plays an important role in the viral life cycle. In addition to the influence on viral replication, the NS1 also participates in apoptosis induced by viruses. Parvovirus induced apoptosis which is mainly mediated by mitochondrial pathway, this review summarized the latest research progresses of parvovirus induced apoptosis.
