Objective:To investigate the expressions of S100A4 and MMP- 2 and their correla-tions to invasiveness and metastasis in gastric cancer. Methods:The expressions of S100A4 and MMP- 2 were detected by SP immunohistochemical method in 49 cases of gastric cancer tissue and 20 cases of normal tissue. Results:The positive rate of S100A4 and MMP- 2 (59.18% 、67.35%) was significantly higher in gastric cancer tissue than in normal gastric tissue (0.00% 、20.00% ,P

Until now, more than seventeen parvovirus have been reported which can infect mammals and poultries. The infected cells appeared different properties of apoptosis and death, present a typical cytopathic effect. NS1 is a major nonstructural protein of parvovirus, with a conservative structure and function, which plays an important role in the viral life cycle. In addition to the influence on viral replication, the NS1 also participates in apoptosis induced by viruses. Parvovirus induced apoptosis which is mainly mediated by mitochondrial pathway, this review summarized the latest research progresses of parvovirus induced apoptosis.

We applied bilingual teaching in internal medicine for students in our school from 2003 in order to cultivate medical students of high quality and to improve their ability in using professional foreign language. We analyzed our experiences from the aspects of teaching object, selection of teachers and teaching methods and summarized some problems during the process. We got the conclusions that only through strengthening bilingual teaching materials compiling, training young teachers and adopting diversified bilingual teaching means, can we achieve better bilingual teaching effect.

Objective To investigate current status and problems of coagulation factor Ⅷ and Ⅸ assay in domestic laboratories so as to provide the reference for implementing the standardization and quality improvement. Methods A questionnaire survey was carried out in 76 laboratories, and quality control materials were distributed to 54 laboratories for activity assay. The questionnaire information was analyzed statistically.Test results of quality control materials were classified into three groups according to the reagents and the ranked grading analysis were used to evaluate the performance. Results This research was investigative study. The amount of sample was less than 30 per month in 72% (52/72)of laboratories. The frequencies of calibration were different, and 33% (24/72) of laboratories did not perform calibration in a different assay batch.39% (28/72)of laboratories did not run internal quality control, and about 21% (15/ 72) of laboratories just performed the normal level quality control.Individual laboratories showed a high cumulative CV (> 30%) of intemal quality control. For normal FⅧ and FⅨ control materials, the CV of results were 11.3%-18.2% and 11.3%-17.9% respectively as well as 15.3%-20.3% and 19.5%-21% for abnormal.Of the three groups, the proportions of laboratories which the FⅧ test results out with consensus were18%,24% and 22% as well as 20%,24% and 28% for FⅨ.Conclusions The key requirements for quality control of coagulation factors active assay remain to be addressed and implemented. The repeatability and comparability in some laboratories are not satisfactory to meet the clinical needs. With the purpose of promoting quality improvement,we need to develop guidelines, organize related training and establish a national external quality assessment scheme.

Background and purpose: Epithelial ovarian carcinoma is the most malignant tumor in female reproductive system because of its resistance to chemotherapy. Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphatase (FBP1) is a rate-limiting enzyme in gluconeogenesis used to catalyze the hydrolysis of fructose-1, 6-bisphosphate to fructose-6-phosphate and inorganic phosphate, thereby inhibiting the effect of glycolysis in tumor cells. This study aimed to investigate the association between the expression of FBP1 and chemosensitivity. Methods: The expression level of FBP1 in ovarian cancer patients was measured by immunohistochemistry. Results: According to the results of immunohistochemistry in 209 ovarian carcinoma specimens, the percentage of positive FBP1 expression was about 49.3% (103/209). Loss of FBP1 was a negative factor of survival (42.6 months vs 62.1 months, P=0.003). Besides, patients who were sensitive to chemotherapy displayed significantly higher scores of FBP1 expression than patients who were resistant to therapy (P=0.007). Conclusion: The rate-limiting enzyme FBP1 in gluconeogenesis can be used as a biomarker for predicting the chemoresistance and prognosis of ovarian cancer patients.
