Objective To evaluate the clinical effect of hepatocellular carcinoma treatment with a combination therapy of transcather arterial super liquefied lipiodol embolization and cytokine-induced killer cell(CIK) infusion.Methods There were 3 groups in this study,group 1:38 cases of HCC patients treated with a combination therapy of transcather arterial super liquified lipiodol embolization and CIK infusion;group 2:80 cases of HCC patients treated with a combination therapy of transcather arterial super liquefied lipiodol embolization and percutaneous intratumoral ethanol injection;group 3:134 cases of HCC patient treated with transcather arterial super liquefied embolization.Finally,the outcomes of the 3 groups were compared.Results The short term effective rates of group 1,2 and 3 were 76.1%,41.3% and 14.9% respectively,simultaneously with significant difference of changes concerning AFP value among the three groups especially in group 1 the AFP decrease to normal level while those of the other two groups still remain in higher levels.Conclusions The living quality and survival rate of HCC patients could be improved by a combination therapy of transcather arterial super liquefied lipiodal embolization and CIK infusion.(J Intervent Radiol,2007,16:235-239)

Objective To explore the effects of early growth response gene-1 (Egr-1) on bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSC) proliferation and osteogenic differentiation,which is aimed at providing new molecular targets for the treatment of osteoporosis.Methods Bone marrow was collected from adult men and the BMSCs were cultured primarily and observed by microscope.Meanwhile,flow cytometry was used for BMSCs phenotypic identification;After transfection of pcDNA3.1/Egr-1 into BM SCs,the level of BMSCs proliferation was determined by MTT respectively on the 2 d,4 d and 6 d;On the 7 d after transfection,the ALP activity assay was used for testing the ALP activity in BMSCs.And then,alizarin red S-calcium kit was used for measuring the calcified knots respectively on the 7 d,14 d and 21 d;On the 21 d after transfection,real-time qPCR and Western blotting were used respectively for measuring the expression of mRNA and protein of Egr-1,Runx2 and NDRG1;Further,BMSCs were transfected with Egr-1 siRNA,and the content of calcium nodules,ALP activity,the expression of Egr-1,Runx2 and NDRG1 were detected as above methods.Results The cells cultured in vitro showed high level of CD90 and CD29 and very low level of CD34 and CD45,which is accorded with the characteristic of BMSCs.The pcDNA3.1/Egr-1 transfection for BMSCs had no effect on cells prolifera tion.However,the calcified knots,ALP activity and the expression of Egr 1,Runx2 and NDRG1 were increased after transfection of pcDNA3.1/Egr-1 for BMSCs.In addition,Egr-1 siRNA showed the opposite effect with pcDNA3.1/Egr-1 transfection for BMSCs.Conclusion Egr-1 induces osteogenic differentiation of BMSCs by promoting NDRG1 but has no effects on proliferation of BMSCs.

This study was aimed to optimize the extraction process of resveratrol by central composite design (CCD) and response surface method (RSM), based on the result of single factor experiment. Resveratrol was extracted from Polygonum cuspidatum by water bath extraction of organic solvent. And content of resveratrol was taken as index in the investigation of solvent concentration effect, extraction time and solvent content on extraction process. The results showed that the optimum condition was 12.7 times amount of 72.0% ethanol and extract for 2 times under the temperature of 50℃, 1.1 h for each time; the average deviation between the maximum theoretical value and measured value was 0.83%. It was concluded that this extraction process was highly predictive, which provided experimental evidence for the industrial production of P. cuspidatum extraction.

Objective To evaluate the effect of transitional care on the quality of life in patients with maintenance hemodialysis (MHD).Methods 101 MHD patients with symptoms of kidney ＜ 80 points were assigned into the interventional group (47 of 51 cases completed the study) and the control group (45 of 50 cases completed the study) by random number table method.The patients in the interventional group received transitional care for 6 months,while control group received routine care.The effects on function index,satisfaction index and clinical index were evaluated at the 3rd month and 6th month after intervention.Results 6 months after intervention,the scores of physical composite,mental composite,burden of kidney disease,symptoms/problems list,effects of kidney disease in the interventional group were 51.78±5.91,55.32±5.36,29.79±17.64,79.39±6.73,68.02±11.38,while the scores of the control group were 38.22±9.46,42.03±8.32,19.58±17.25,69.49±10.10,52.09±16.78,and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (t=5.308-9.063,Z=-3.07,P ＜ 0.01).The scores of self-management behavior,health locus of control in the interventional group were 71.30-±5.42,25.74±2.42,while the scores of the control group were 65.0±8.74,22.47±3.97 (t=4.132,4.759,P ＜ 0.01).The nursing satisfaction in the interventional group scored 91.06±7.29,which was significantly higher than the control group scored 86.22±10.72 (Z=-2.45,P＜ 0.05).The level of serum phosphorus (PO4),Ca × PO4 products,parathormone (PTH) in the interventional group were (1.76±0.35) mmol/L,(51.02±10.04) mg2/dl2,464.56 ng/L,which were significanlty lower than (2.01±0.54) mmol/L,(57.41±17.38) mg2/dl2,625.78 ng/L in the control group (t=-2.691,-2.167,-2.000 in tum,P ＜ 0.01 or 0.05).Conclusions Transitional care achieves good effectiveness on the quality of life in patients with MHD.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of Xiao'er Zhixie Paste (XZP) by using the young rat model of chronic diarrhea,and to explore its mechanism.Methods Chronic diarrhea model in young rats was induced by ig senna.Rats were ig with Montmorillonite powder of 1.62 g/kg,XZP of low,medium,and high dose (2.03,4.05,and 8.10 g/kg) for treatment.Loose stools rate,loose stool grade and diarrhea index were determined 1 and 3 d after treatment respectively.The water content of small intestine was measured and blood was collected for testing serum succinate dehydrogenase (SDH),amylase,D-xylose by colorimetric determination,testing serum D-lactic acid,IL-1 β,and TNF-α by Elisa after administration.Results The rate of loose stools in XZP 4.05 and 8.10 g/kg dose group,and diarrhea index in 8.10 g/kg dose group significantly reduced after the first treatment.The loose stools rate of XZP 2.03,4.05,and 8.10 g/kg dose group,diarrhea index,serum D-lactic acid level in 4.05,8.10 g/kg group significantly reduced,and serum D-xylose level in 8.10 g/kg dose group significantly increased 3 d after treatment.However,XZP had no significant effect on SDH,amylase activity and IL-1β,TNF-α levels.Conclusion XZP has obvious therapeutic effect on chronic diarrhea in young rats,the mechanism is to increase improve the absorptive function and permeability of intestinal tract.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the value of indirect CT lymphography (CT-LG) combined with nanocarbon tracer suspension staining in the sentinel lymph node (SLN) detection of rabbit tongue (cancer). METHOD: Eight rabbits were divided into two groups, i. e. normal control group (6 rabbits) and VX2 tongue carcinoma group (2 rabbits). Pre-contrast CT images were taken for all rabbits. The mixture of iohexol and nanocarbon tracer suspension (iohexol 0.25 ml and nanocarbon tracer 0.25 ml, respectively, volume ratio = 1:1) was used as contrast agent of indirect CT-LG. Indirect CT-LG was performed as the contrast agent was injection into right ventrolateral submucosa of the tongues. CT images were acquired at 1, 5, 10 and 15 min after injection. RESULT: There were no cervical lymph nodes clearly identified in any group on the pre-contrast CT images. After the contrast agent injection, indirect CT-LG showed an ipsilateral SLN with rapid enhancement which was the only enhanced SLN, located lateral to the larynx-trachea region in all rabbits of VX2 control group and carcinoma group. The CT attenuation values of SLN were (58.80 ± 5.45) HU, (134.80 ± 28.92) HU, (91.00 ± 13.08) HU and (63.80 ± 4.32) HU at 1, 5, 10 and 15 minutes after indirect CT-LG. After the cervical anatomy guided by CT scan, all of the right deep SLN showed a distinct enrichment of black dye highly consistent with the locations on the indirect CT-LG images. CONCLUSION It is more accurate for sentinel lymph node detection by indirect CT lymphography combined with nanocarbon tracer staining.

· AIM: To observe the effect of tetrandrine (Ted) eye drops of different concentrations on corneal graft and on allograft rejection in rats.64 SD rats and they were then randomly divided into 3,5, 10g/L tetrandrine eye drops-treated and control groups. At different times postoperatively, neovascularization and inflammation of corneal graft were observed using slit-lamp microscopy, HE staining, light microscopy and microphoto-analysis.lymphocytes and mononuclear-macrophages. Corneal neovascularization and inflammation were significantly inhibited in the 5g/L Tet-treated group (P ＜0.05),compared with control group at 7, 14, 21, 28d postoperatively.bubble appeared when the graft was treated with tetrandrine of higher concentration (10g/L), but 5g/L Tet eye drops significantly inhibited corneal allograft rejection in rats without serious side-effects.

Dyspnea is an important issue for the patients with chronic heart failure. Breathing training, especially the inspiratory muscle training can help to improve the patients′ cardiopulmonary function, endurance and quality of life. In this paper, the foreign research about the method, effect evaluation and appropriate case of inspiratory muscle training in patients with chronic heart failure were reviewed so as to explore a specific strategy of inspiratory muscle training for China′s patients with chronic heart failure.
