Objective To study the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) preconditioning (PC) on motor function and mitochondrial apoptosis after spinal cord injury (SCI) in rats. Methods Thirty-six healthy, male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 3 groups (each n =12):a control (CON) group,an SCI model group and an HBO-PC group. The SCI group and the HBO-PC group after 7 sessions of HBO-PC treatment were subjected to SCI modeling using Allen's method. The CON group was not given any special treatment. Two weeks after the modeling,Basso,Beattie, and Bresnahan BBB scale was used to rate the rats' locomotor function, and the T8 segment of the rats' spinal cords was removed. After extracting total RNA from the spinal cord tissue,real-time quantitative PCR was used to detect the mRNA expression levels ofcaspase-3,cytochrome C (CYC),Bak,Bax,Bcl-x and Bcl-2 in the spinal cord tissue. Results Two weeks after modeling, compared with the CON group, the average BBB locomotion score of the SCI model group had decreased. In contrast,caspase-3,CYC,Bak and Bax mRNA expressions had increased significantly.Compared with the CON group, the average BBB locomotion score of the HBO-PC group had decreased,caspase-3 expression had increased, and Bax mRNA expression had decreased, but the differences in the changes between the two groups were not statistically significant.Bak mRNA expression increased and CYC expression decreased, and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant.Compared with the SCI model group, the average BBB locomotion score of the HBO-PC group increased while caspase-3,CYC,Bak and Bax mRNA expressions decreased, but none of these differences between the two groups was statistically significant.Bak mRNA expression increased and CYC mRNA expression decreased, and those differences between the two groups were statistically significant.Bcl-x and Bcl-2 mRNA expression in the CON,HBO-PC and SCI model groups were significantly different. Conclusion HBO-PC can reduce the loss of motor function after SCI,at least in rats. The mechanism may be related to reducing neuron mitochondrial apoptosis.

OBJECTIVE To strengthen the management of earthquake victims with nosocomial infection,in order to prevent and control the multidrug-resistance transmission, and the nosocomial infection outbreak. METHODS All 77 earthquake victims were under real-time monitoring. RESULTS Of 77 cases,53 were infected (69.74%). From 83 samples,83 pathogenic bacteria were isolated. The Gram-positive cocci were 19 (meticillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus 3,Meticillin-resistant S. epidermidis 7),58 were Gram-negative bacilli (Acinetobacter baumannii 21,multi-drug resistant strains 10,ESBLs positive Escherichia coli 10,Pseudomonas aeruginosa 9) and the fungi were 6 strains,The resistance rates of Gram-positive cocci to penicillin,ampicillin/sulbactam and cefazolin were 89.47%,68.42% and 89.47%; the resistance rates of Gram-negative bacillis to imipenem,cefoperazone/sulbactam,piperacillin/tazobactam,azithromycin,tobramycin,and cefoxitin were 37.93%,60.34%,48.83%,98.28%,98.28% and 70.69%,respectively. CONCLUSIONS Under the situation of higher infection rate and a serious drug resistance in earthquake area, there are no multidrug-resistance transmissionm and the spread of nosocomiol infection outbreak happened in hospital due to strictly enforced prevention meassures and access real-time monitoring and management,

Objective To investigate clinical effect of local decompression and selective interbody fusion with pedicle screw fixation technique for the treatment of degenerative lumbar scoliosis. Methods Medical records of 122 degenerative lumbar scoliosis patients were retrospectively studied. All cases were treated by selective interbody fusion, local decompression and pedicle screw fixation. Group A(L5 fusion)and group B(S1 fusion)un?derwent imaging analysis, and Suk criteria was used to evaluate the fixation, decompression, bone graft fusion. JOA scores were used to evaluate curative effect of excellent and good rate. Results There were no significant difference in operating time, blood loss and postoperative drainage volume between two groups. Follow?up period for all patients is(16.2 ± 0.8)months. X?ray revealed that Cobb′s angle on the coronal plane, the correction rate of lor?dosis and sagittal Cobb′s angle after treatment, the correction rate of lordosis in group B were better than in group A (P<0.05). There were no significant differences in intervertebral fusion rate, low back pain score of JOA and the effective rate at final follow?up between two groups(P>0.05). There was no infection or screw breakage and pulling out. The incidence rate of adjacent vertebral body disease in group A was higher than that in group B(P < 0.05). Conclusions Local decompression and selective interbody fusion with pedicle screw fixation technique for the treat?ment of degenerative lumbar scoliosis can produce satisfactory short to mid?term clinical curative effect.

The active ingredient of traditional Chinese medicine, silybin (SBN), can inhibit the proliferation of cancer cells and enhance the anticancer effect of doxorubicin (DOX). However, due to non-targeting and short half-life of SBN and DOX, as well as different administration routes and pharmacokinetic processes, this combination drug cannot act on the tumor in the set order, seriously eliminating the synergistic effect between them and limiting the effect
