ObjectiveTo observe the clinical features, complications, and prognosis of subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) in the aged. Methods132 old cases were analyzed retrospectively. Results56.8% of patients complained headache as the main symptoms, 43.2% with dizziness or vertigo, 40.1% with disturbance of consciousness, 70.5% with negative of meningeal irritation sign. The most common cause is the aneurysm. The mortality was more in those complicated with hypertension. ConclusionSAH in the old characterized variable clinical manifestations, no special signs, half of them with good prognosis.

Objective To understand the hygienic situation of drinking water in the rural areas in the river system of the Yangtze and Huaihe in Jiangsu Province,and to provide the scientific evidence for improving the quality of drinking water. Methods From January to October in 2007,according to the guideline of drinking water quality monitoring in the rural areas,in the river system of the Yangtze and Huaihe in Jiangsu Province,in 53 counties (cities),the drinking water quality of the central water supply and the non-central water supply was investigated. Results From the result of comprehensive evaluation,the eligible rate of drinking water in the rural areas in the river system of the Yangtze and Huaihe in Jiangsu Province was 41.34%. As for residual chlorine the eligible rate was 49.64%,as for total coliform group it was 79.69%,as for total number of bacteria it was 88.78%,as for the turbidity it was 85.75%,as for fluoride it was 92.63%,as for the other indexes it was above 95%. ?AIM:To compare the corrected vision and improvement of visual quality after wearing rigid gas permeable corneal lens ( RGPCL) or spectacles in aphakic patients.?METHODS: We selected 29 aphakic patients ( 29 eyes ) caused by different reasons wearing RGPCL and spectacle.The corrected vision, eye condition and visual quality were observed and all patients were followed up for 6mo.? RESULTS: RGPCL was better than spectacle on corrected vision (P<0.05).The patients who wore RGPCL for long had no corneal complications reported. The patients who wore RGPCL had better subjective visual quality than those wore spectacle.?CONCLUSION: RGPCL is a good choice for correcting high myopia and astigmatism for aphakic patients.The patients'compliance is good. Wearing RGPL long has high safety for patients'ocular surface.

[Summary] The human thyroid epithelium cells were obtained from normal para-adenoma tissues of patients with thyroid adenoma or nodule.Cells were treated with 1 000 IU/ml interferon-γ (IFN-γ) + 10 ng/ml tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),1 mmol/L N-acetylcysteine (NAC),1 mmol/L glutathione (GSH),and 10 μmol/L dexamethasone (DEX) respectively.Malondialdehyde(MDA),glutathioneperoxidase(GSH-Px),and superoxidedismutase(SOD) levels in the cell supernatant were measured.The results showed that IFN-γ+TNF-α significantly increased MDA level (P＜0.05) while decreased GSH-Px and SOD levels (P＜0.05).After NAC,GSH,and DEX intervention,MDA levels all were significantly lowered (all P＜0.05) while GSH-Px and SOD levels were significantly increased compared with IFN-γ+TNF-α stimulation(all P＜0.05).These results suggest that IFN-γ and TNF-α can induce oxidative stress in the human thyrocyte,and this effect is antagonized by NAC,GSH,and DEX via increasing GSH-Px,SOD activity and decreasing MDA content.

Objective To explore the clinical manifestation of stroke caused by central nervous system vasculitis (CNSV). Methods 49 patients who suffered from stroke by CNSV were reviewed retrospectively. Results Among the 49 patients, 5 were intracerebral hemorrhage, 15 were ventricular hemorrhage, 7 were subarachnoid hemorrhage and 22 were cerebral infarction; the mean of age was (26.0±12.7) years old. Conclusion The clinical manifestation of stroke caused by CNSV is variform, and usually happens in young age. CNSV should be considered as the cause of stroke in adolescent.

Objective To investigate the application value of multifunctional dynamic flat panel X-ray detector in intravenous pyelography.Methods Total 540 patients with intravenous pyelography were divided into multifunctional dynamic flat panel X-ray detector group (300 cases) and conventional flat panel X-ray detector group (240 cases) by random digits table method.Image quality,radiation dosage and examination time were analyzed and compared between the two groups.Results There was no statistical difference between the two groups in image quality (P ＞ 0.05).The examination time and radiation dosage was (25.5 ± 8.2) min and (12.5 ± 6.8) mAs respectively in multifunctional dynamic flat panel X-ray detector group and (39.2 ± 12.1) min and (23.6 ± 7.6) mAs in conventional flat panel X-ray detector group.The differences had statistical significance (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusions Multifunctional dynamic flat panel X-ray detector in intravenous pyelography can provide lower radiation dose,shorter examination time and higher image quality.It has obvious advantages in urography.

Obejctive To compare the differences between conventional radiation therapy (3DCRT) and intensity modulated radiation therapy( IMRT) for locally advanced laryngeal carcinoma patients by ECLIPSE treat -ment planning system.Methods Six locally advanced laryngeal carcinoma patients ′treatment plans were de-signed as IMRT and 3DCRT according to ECLIPSE treatment planning system ,respectively.The following values were measured,such as V95%、D5%、D95%、Dmin and D mean of the target volume,and the D50,D33,D5, Dmax and Dmean of normal tissues.Results The dose coverage rate of GTV and GTVnd in the IMRT plan was compared to ECLIPSE treatment planning system with no statistical differences.However, there were obvious difference in CTV and some normal tissues.Conclusion Both IMRT and 3DCRT have good coverage to primary tumor and metastatic lymph nodes.IMRT can spare the parotid from high dose irradiation.
