Objective To investigate whether liraglutide treatment can prevent catch-up fat in high-fat dietinduced catch-up growth rats, and to discuss the possible underlying mechanisms. Methods Sixty-four SpragueDawley rats were stratified into 4 groups:normal control group,catch-up growth (CUG) group,catch-up growth with liraglutide treatment (CUGL) group, and catch-up growth with liraglutide plus exendin (9-39) treatment (CUGLE) group. All the catch-up growth animals underwent a4 week high-fat diet re-feeding phase after a4 week food restriction phase.Body weight and food intake were measured every day.At the end of food restriction and re-feeding,body composition was measured via Dual energy X-ray absorptiometry. After the rats were sacrificed, body fat distribution and plasma lipid levels were determined. Results By the end of catch-up growth, body weight, energy intake,Lee' s index, fat body mass, visceral adipose tissue/body weight, subcutaneous adipose tissue/body weight, triglyceride, free fatty acid, low density lipoprotein-cholesterol levels were lower in CUGL rats compared with CUG rats (all P<0.01).There were no significant differences in energy intake, body composition, fat body mass, and blood lipid levels between CUGLE rats and CUG rats, while the weight of CUGLE rats was significantly lower than CUG ones. Conclusions Liraglutide infusion protects rats with high-fat diet induced catch-up growth from catch-up fat mainly via a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor dependent manner.

Objective To explore the occurrence of enteral feeding intolerance and its influencing factors in patients with severe acute pancreatitis. Methods A retrospective analysis of severe acute pancreatitis patients undergoing enteral nutrition therapy admitted to a tertiary hospital from October 2012 to October 2015 was performed. The occurrence of enteral feeding intolerance was analyzed, and its influencing factors were evaluated by single factor analysis and multivariate logistic regression analysis. Results There were 54 patients suffered from enteral feeding intolerance among 92 patients. The results of single factor analysis and multivariate regression analysis showed that higher APACHE II score,intra-abdominal pressure and central venous pressure were independent risk factors of feeding intolerance, while adding dietary fiber was a protective factor. Conclusion Severe acute pancreatitis patients with higher APACHE II score,intra-abdominal pressure and central venous pressure can aggravate the risk of feeding intolerance, while adding dietary fiber is beneficial for reducing the incidence.

Objective To explore the diagnosis and treatment of isolated dissection of the superior mesenteric artery (SMA).Methods From Feb 2006 to July 2010,15 patients with isolated SMA dissection were treated in our center, there were 13 males,2 females, the mean age was(53 ± 8) years (range 43 -63).Among them,1 was caused by trauma,14 had unknown etiology, and 9 cases had a history of hypertension.Diagnosis was made by contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) in all cases.Management strategies inlcuded placement of self-expanding bare stent, medical treatment, and transperitoneal SMA fenestration. Results Endovascular stenting was attempted in 14 cases, with a success in 5 and a failure in 9 cases who were then given medical treatment with antiplatelet agents. One case with critical intestinal ischemia underwent open exploration and SMA fenestration.Blood vessel patency resumed.Follow-up with duplex and CT was accomplished in 13 cases, time ranging from 12 to 60 months (mean 28 ± 14mos).There was no recurrent abdominal pain or chronic intestinal ischemia developed during the follow-up.In medically treated patients, there was no aneurismal enlargement of SMA,while in the endovasculartreatmentgroup,allstentsremainedpatentthroughoutthefollow-up.Conclusions Endovascular treatment of isolated dissection of SMA appears to be feasible and effective, despite its relatively low technical success rate. For asymptomatic patients, medical treatment is the treatment of choice. In case of critical intestinal ischemia and with a suspected intestinal gangrene, emergency surgical exploration and fenestration should be performed.

Objective To study the effects of extracellular-signal regulated kinase mitogenactivated protein kinase (ERK-MAPK) signaling pathway inhibition on histone phosphorylation and the related gene expression in human colorectal cancer cells. Methods Two human colorectal cancer cell lines (SW1116 and HCT116) were cultured and treated with gradient(0,20,40/μmol/L) doses of ERK-MAPK signaling pathway inhibitor U0126.Cell viability was determined by cell counting kit 8 (CCK-8) assay.Cell cycle distribution was assessed by flow cytometry. The expression levels of histone H3 kinases including ribosomal S6 serine-threonine kinase (RSK-2) and mitogen-and stressactivated protein kinase 1 and 2 (MSK1 and MSK2),and the levels of histone H3 (Ser10) phosphorylation and c-Fos protein were detected using Western blotting. Results Treatment of these two human colorectal cancer cell lines with ERK-MAPK inhibitor resulted in a time and dose-dependent inhibition of cell proliferation significantly. Proliferation rate of HCT116 was reduced to 47% at 72 hours after 40/μmol/L U0126 treatment. Cell cycle analysis showed that the percentage of phase G0/G1 cells significantly increased (P<0. 01) and the percentage of phase S cells decreased (P<0.01) after treatment with ERK-MAPK inhibitor. The expression of MSK1 and RSK2 reduced obviously in both of human colorectal cancer cell lines treated with U0126, which resulted in a 28% and 40% reduction of levels of MSK1 and RSK2 as compared with control HCT116 cells respectively, while no detectable change in the expression of MSK2 was found. Consistent with this, the expression level of histone H3 (ser10) phosphorylation was markedly down-regulated by ERK-MAPK inhibitor, and the related protein c-Fos expression decreased accordantly. Conclusions Decreased ERK-MAPK signaling pathway may reduce histone H3 (Ser10) phosphorylation via suppression of the activity of histone H3 kinase including MSK1 and RSK2, but not MSK2, consequently decrease the expression of c-Fos protein, which results in the inhibition of colorectal cancer cells proliferation.
