By now,the mutations of C-KIT gene and PDGFRA have been regarded as the most important primary incidences. The latest results have revealed the fact that the abnormal expressions of p53,p16,p21 WAF-1,p27 and E-cadherin(cDH1) which were labeled as anti-oncogenes in most of human tumors, existed in the progression of gastrointestinal stromal tumor. Therefore,we put forward the theory that gene mutaion may lead to the instability of DNA that further promotes mutation of short tandem repeat in anti-oncogene coding region,on basis of which, that finally lead to the malignant progession of gastrointestinal stromal tumor by anti-oncogene mutation.

Cellular schwannoma is a rare benign tumor of the peripheral nerves. The tumor is consist of spindle cells which arranged in interwoven bundles, and lacking the mesh district and palisading structure. The tumor cells are abundant, with coarse chromatin, deeply stained nuclei and in multiforms. So the tumor may easily be misdiagnosed as various types of spindle cell sarcoma.Intraperitoneal cellular schwannoma may also be mistaken as gastrointestinal stromal tumors. In this article, the clinical characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of cellular schwannoma were analyzed based on the clinical data of a patient with cellular schwannoma in the gastric wall misdiagnosed as gastric stromal tumor.

Objective:To investigate the efficacy of three different methods of digestive tract reconstruction after total gastrectomy. Methods:A total of 106 cases underwent the uncutted Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy with a jejunal pouch(group A,n=38) ,Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy with the J-type jejunal pouch(group B,n=31) ,and Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy with the Orr-type jejunal pouch(group C,n=37) respectively. The clinical data were retrospectively studied. The digestive tract reconstruction time, the post-operative complication incidence rate, postprandial symptoms,food-intake quantity, weight, serum nutritional parameters and emptying time of the gastricsubstitute were compared respectively. Results:The reconstruction time was the shortest in group A,which was significantly shorter than that in group B(P0.05) ,Group A was significantly lower than group B and C in the incidence of roux stasis syndrome. The Visick score of group A were superior to those of group B and C in 6 and 12 months after operation. The food intake gain of group A and B were superior to that of group C 6 and 12 months after operation. There were no significant differences among 3 groups in the term of weight,Hb and ALB loss and prognosis nutritional index(PNI) 6 months postoperatively.Weight and ALB loss in group A and B were lower than those in group C 12 months postoperatively, but PNI was higher in group A and B than those in group C.Emptying time of the gastric substitute was prolonged both in group A and B 12 months postoperatively. Conclusion:The uncutted Roux-en-Y esophagojejunostomy may act as an adoptable method of digestive tract reconstruction after total gastrectomy for gastric cancer.

Purple bacteria are extensively used in bacterial photosynthesis research. This review describes the structure of light-harvesting I, light-harvesting II and reaction center of photosynthetic apparatus of pur- ple bacteria and discusses the regulation mechanisms of photosynthesis (PS) gene transcription, with an emphasis laid on the transcriptional regulation of PS gene by PpsR/AppA system.

Objective To explore the operative main point and clinical effects of laparoscopic treatment for hepatic cyst. Methods Between August 2006 and April 2009, Forty-eight cases of laparoscopic treatment for hepatic cyst were performed, and the data were analyzed retrospectively. Of these treatments, there were laparoscopic fenestration (46 cases) and laparoscopic anatomical resection of left hepatic lobe (2 cases). Of the patients, there were solitary cyst (41 cases) and multiple cyst (7 cases). Results Fortyeight cases all performed laparoscopic treatment successfully. There were no converting to open operation, no biliary leakage and no bleeding. Except for resection of left hepatic lobe, the operating time was 30 -96 minutes (mean, 45 minutes), the intraoperative blood loss was 10 -90 mL (mean, 26 mL) and the postoperative hospital stay was 3 - 9 days (mean, 5 days). All the 48 patients were followed up for 6 to 36 months (mean, 32 months), 2 cases were found recurrence. Conclusions Affluent experience and proper standard of operation are key points for avoiding recurrence and complication in laparoscopic treatment for hepatic cyst. Laparoscopic treatment for hepatic cyst is safe, characterized by less pain and rapid recovery.

Objective To evaluate the blood supply features and effectiveness of arterial chemoembolization for pedunculated hepatocellular carcinoma. Methods Angiography and chemoembolization via supplying blood arteries of tumor were performed in five patients with pedunculated hepatocellular carcinoma.Interventional procedure was carried out with tumor vascular infusion of 350 mg hot elemene emulsion and tumor embolization by cisplantin-lipidol emulsion(cisplantin 60-80 mg+lipidol 8-15 ml)and glutin. Results Ten interventional procedures(TACE)were undertaken in 5 patients.Angiography showed that tumor blood supply mainly coming from collateral circulation adjacent to the tumors, but partially from hepatic artery.Tumor sizes decreased from 30% to 50% in 5 cases, and AFP declined in 4 cases after the treatment. Conclusion Pedunculated hepatocellular carcinoma possessing different blood supply features from intrahepatocellular carcinomas. But transarterial ehemoembolization is still an effective method of choice for this treatment.

Background:X-linked inhibitor of apoptosis (XIAP) is a vital factor in the anti-apoptosis mechanism of tumors and is highly expressed in renal cell carcinoma (RCC).However, the mechanism through which XIAP regulates DNA damage repair is unknown. This study investigated the regulatory mechanism of XIAP in etoposide-induced apoptosis in two Caki-1 cell lines with high or low XIAP expression. Methods:The two cell lines were established using RNA interference technology. The differentially expressed proteins in the two cell lines were globally analyzed through an isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantitation-based quantitative proteomics approach.Proteomic analysis revealed 255,375,362,and 5 differentially expressed proteins after 0,0.5,3,and 12 h of drug stimulation, respectively, between the two cell lines. The identified differentially expressed proteins were involved in numerous biological processes. In addition, the expression of histone proteins (H1.4,H2AX,H3.1,H3.2,and H3.3) was drastically altered, and the effects of XIAP silencing were accompanied by the marked downregulation of H2AX.Protein-protein interactions were assessed and confirmed through immunofluorescence and Western blot analyses. Results:The results suggested that XIAP may act as a vital cell signal regulator that regulates the expression of DNA repair-related proteins, such as H2AX,and influences the DNA repair process. Conclusions:Given these functions,XIAP may be the decisive factor in determining the sensitivity of RCC cell apoptosis induction in response to chemotherapeutic agents.
