Objective To investigate the effect of adenosine on rats with acute renal failure(ARF) resulting from ischemia-reperfusion(IR).Methods The model of renal IR injury rats was induced by nipping bilateral renal pedicels of rats with non-traumatic forceps for 40 minutes.The first adenosine group was given adenosine 10 mg/kg intraabdominally at 2 hours before IR.The second adenosine group was given the same adenosine at 40 minutes after IR.Serum creatinine(Scr) levels,the proportion of apoptosis of renal tubular cells(RTCs) and the pathological changes of renal tissue were observed separately in every group at 2,6,12 hours after IR.Results 1.At 12 hours after IR,in IR group Scr levels and apoptosis of RTCs count were(198.56?13.35) ?mol/L and 26.50?2.07,which were increased significantly compared with sham group.In the first and second adenosine groups,they were(113.85?(12.90) ?mol/L),14.67?3.44 and(218.79?37.65) ?mol/L,20.83?5.27,respectively,and all of them were higher than those in sham group(all P0.05).Conclusions Adenosine which is given to rats with IR before IR may be an effective pharmacological agent for prevention and treatment of renal IR injury.The mechanism may be relevant to saving energy and reducing cellular apoptosis.

AlM: To discuss the efficacy of modified dacrocystorhinostomy with intubation in the treatment of chronic dacryocystitis combined with lacrimal duct narrow or obstruction.
METHODS: Retrospective analysis of 56 patients who underwent modified dacrocystorhinostomy with intubation in our hospital from July 2010 to September 2011.
RESULTS: All patients underwent the extubation of lacrimal and catheters irrigation, the patency rate was 95% at 2a after operation.
CONCLUSlON: Modified dacryocystorhinostomy combined with intubation is a effective method for chronic dacwocystitis combined with lacrimal duct obstruction, which has simple operative procedure, high success rate.

Sixty-three morphological traits from 743 specimens of the 41 taxa within the cultivated Lonicera japonica were observed and measured, such as the height of plants, the length of leaf, the width of leaf, the length of anther, the alabastrum's number of one branch, the color of alabastrum and so on. A numerical taxonomy is presented by using the cluster analysis, principal components analysis (PCA) and factor analysis. Sixteen of 63 characters were screened by means of PCA and used for cluster analysis of 41 taxa with the method of Ward linkage and average euclidean distance. The cluster analysis showed that the 41 taxa could be divided into 5 groups when the Euclidean distance coefficient was 11.84. The factor analysis indicated that the shape of leaf, color of alabastrum, the pilosity and color of twiggery were of significance for the cultivated L. japonica classification. The results of this study will be a base for the core collection and breeding of L. japonica.

We collected 22 cultivated population of Lonicera japonica from 17 areas. The characteristics of non-glandular hairs were observed and measured by the scanning electron microscopy. The principal components analysis and correlation analysis were conduct based on length and density of L. japonica. The results showed a significant negative correlation between length and density of non-glandular hairs, and the characteristics of non-glandular was not corrrelated significantly with latitude. The correlation results indicated that the density was a key to separate "Damaohua" and "Jizhuahua". The contribution of climate and soil was important to the cultivated population. This reminded that the characteristics of non-glandular hairs were affected by environmental and genetic interaction.

A L-histidine producing mutant was derived from Corynebacterium glutamicum HZ4221(TRA R DCP R AMT R histidase - )by means of mutagenesis with N-methy-N′-nitro- N-nitrosoguanidine(NTG).Contrast to original strain,the amount of histidine accumulation reached to a level of 5.31g/L in a medium containing 80g/Lglucose and 30g/L ammonium sulfate after cultured for 72 hours; the transketolase activity reduced to a degree of 15.7%.The utilization of the carbon sources,genetic stability,effect of metal ions were also been investigated in this paper.

Objective To study the volume of total prostate and the volume of its transitional zone in different age groups of elderly men. Methods 213 elderly men of 50 to 79 years of age from a community of Beijing city were divided into 3 groups and studied. The volume of total prostate and the volume of the transitional zone were measured by rectal ultrasonography and the index of the transitional zone was calculated. All the data were evaluated with statistical analysis. Results The number of subjects in the 50～59 age group was 75,in the 60～69 age group 81 and in the 70～79 age group 57.The volume of total prostate was 23.82?8.83,29.16?10.01 and 33.77?11.74 respectively and the transitional zone 1.52?1.19, 3.60?3.66 and 7.25?7.02ml respectively. The index of transitional was 0.10?0.12, 0.13?0.11, 0.20?0.11 respectively. The difference in volume of the total prostate has not been statistically significant whereas the difference in the volume of the transitional zone between the 3 age groups has been significant. Conclusions The volume of total prostate and that of the transitional zone increases with age. The speed of hyperplasia of the transitional zone has been faster than that of the whole prostate.The index of the transitional zone indicates the difference of the whole prostate and the transitional zone in hyperplasia.

Objectives To review our initial experience with the Ho:YAG laser in treating superficial bladder tumors.Methods Ho:YAG laser was applied for treating 52 cases of bladder tumors which were confirmed by cystoscopy and pathology with totally 87 tumors.All tumors were in stage Ta～T 2 and tumors grade G1～G2.The optical fiber was put into bladder through cystoscopy.Ho:YAG laser was used endoscpically to cut and vaporize bladder tumor and normal bladder mucosa near the tumor.Results Nine of 52 patients were performed under local anesthesia in outpatient.Operation time was apparently short (mean 25 minutes) Histopathology of biopsies showed no cancer cells left.There were no intraoperative complication such as bleeding,perforation and delay complication.Catheter time is very short,about 1～3 days or without catheter at all.None of the ureteral orifice were damaged in seven cases of bladder tumors near the ureteral orifice.Six patients were recrred during our follow-up in 50 patients (12%).Conclusions It has been demonstrated that Ho:YAG laser therapy is provided with advantages of simple procedure,the absence of complication,high patient satisfaction,and ability to be used in the outpatient.It is more convenience than TUR-Bt in tumors in the neck of bladder or apex of bladder.
