Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1989;0(06):-
0.05) after non-fever limit (non-FL) dose and FL dose endotoxin (ET) was intravenously injected into rabbits. The increase of PGE_2 in CSF was not limited during the occurrence of ET FL. 2. Intracerebroventricular injection (ICV) of different dose of PGE_2 into rabbits induced dose-dependent fever, but there was no more rise in body temperature when the febrile response had reached a certain height. This is termed "PGE FL". 3. The concentration of cyclic adenosine-3′, 5′-monophosphate (cAMP)in CSF paralleled the fluctuation of temperature (r=0.9906, P
3.Inhibitory effect of Tau on the fever induced by ET and EGTA
Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(04):-
40 New Zealand white rabbits were used to observe the effect on the fever caused by ET (endotoxin) and EGTA [ethylene glycol bis-(?-aminoethylethylether)-N, N, N′, N′-tetraacetic acid] after ICV (intracerebroventricular) infusion of Tau and CaCl_2 into rabbits. The results showed that Tau ICV perfusion could inhibit the initial febrile response to ET and EGTA in rabbits (P0.05), which could be blocked by ICV infusion of CaCl_2. The authors suggested that Tau might increase the level of Ca~(++) in the hypothalamus and reduce Na~+/Ca~(++) ratio, then lower the fever.

Objective To investigate neoplastic lesions in gastrointestinal tract treated by endoscop-ic mucosal resection (EMR). Methods The properties, extent and infiltrating depth of the neoplastic lesions in gastrointestinal tract were detected by chromoendoscopy, magnifying videoscopy and endoscopic ul-trasonograpy. The tumors in niucosa or its muscular layer including the early cancer, precancerous lesion, submucosal tumors, polyps in laterally development, large polyps with or without peduncle were removed by EMR or transparent plastic cap EMR. Results Thirty-one submucosal tumors and four early cancers (esoph-ageal cancer 2, cardiac carcinoma 1 , early colonic carcinoma 1 ) and moderate or severe gastric dysplasia 2 were treated by EMR or transparent plastic cap EMR, no recurrence happened within 3-18 months follow-up. Laterally spreaded 13 polyps and 21 subpedunculated or sessile typed large polyps were resected by the procedures of EMR and Endoscopic Piecemeal Mucosal Resection ( EPMR). Five (7. 04% ) cases were complicated with bleeding during the procedure, and cured under endoscopies. One patient with villus adenoma ( 1. 41% ) recurred three months after EMR. Conclusion Under the guidance of chromoendoscopy, magnifying videoscope and endoscopic ultrasoundgraphy, EMR is a safe and effective endoscopic therapy for early cancers, submucosal tumors and large polyps in gastrointestinal tract.

BACKGROUND: Many scholars have paid attentions on neural stem cells (NSCs), which are regarded as the cell source to repair the injured nervous tissues. And it is becoming a key point that NSCs will be obtained in an effective way.OBJECTIVE: To observe the characteristics of isolation, proliferation and differentiation of in vitro NSCs from subventricular zone (SVZ) and hippocampus of neonatal rats.DESIGN: Single-sample trial.SETTING: Department of Neurosurgery in the Third Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.MATERIALS: Ten SD rats aged 3 days, of either gender, were offered from the Experimental Animal Center of Sun Yat-sen University. Nestin antibody (rabbit-anti-rat), neurofilament (NF-200) antibody (rabbit-anti-rat), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) antibody (mice-anti-rat) were all purchased from Sigma Company.METHODS: The experiment was carried out in the Laboratory of Histology and Embryology, Basic Medical College of Sun Yat-sen University from September to December in 2006. According to the ethical requirement, the serum-free DMEM/F12 medium containing basic fibroblast growth factor and epidermal growth factor was utilized to isolate and incubate NSCs from SVZ and hippocampus of neonatal rats. Then the proliferation and differentiation of NSCs in vitro were observed.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Fluorescence immunocytochemistry was applied to detect the antigen of nestin expressed from NSCs, NF expressed from neuron cells and GFAP expressed from astrocytes. The differentiation of NSCs was identified.RESULTS: The cells isolated from SVZ and hippocampus of neonatal rats possessed the ability of proliferation and self-renewal. Through inverted microscope, nestin positive cells could be found in the cell clone sphere at passage 20 of cells. Cells induced to differentiate could express antigen of NF and GFAP by the attached cell clone sphere.CONCLUSION: The NSCs successfully isolated from SVZ and hippocampi of neonatal rats possess the ability of self-renewal, proliferation, and differentiation into neuron-like cells and astrocytes.

α-MSH is an endogenous neuropetide that is effective of all categories of expreimental inflammation. The mechanisms underlying the anti-inflammatory influence of α-MSH are reviewed in the article. α-MSH suppresses inflammation in the CNS and periphery by downregulating the activation of NF-κB, then inhibiting production of proinflammatory cytokines, nitric oxide, chemokines and adhension molecules, and increasing synthesis of anti-inflammatory cytokines. α-MSH is useful in the treatment of many pathological situations in humans.
