1.The application of percutaneous transhepatic endobiliary radiofrequency ablation in treating malignant biliary obstruction
Journal of Interventional Radiology 2014;(9):831-834
Malignant biliary obstruction is caused by biliary tract malignant tumors or by extrinsic compression from pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, etc. Clinically, the disease is characterized by jaundice, skin itching, hepatic failure, etc., and the patients endure a poor quality of life with a short survival time. The key point for the treatment of malignant biliary obstruction lies in dredging biliary drainage channel , timely reducing jaundice and protecting liver function. This paper reviews the relevant medical literature , that have been published both at home and abroad in recent years, concerning percutaneous transhepatic endobiliary radiofrequency ablation by using HabibTM EndoHPB catheter to treat malignant biliary obstruction in order to clarify the fact that percutaneous transhepatic endobiliary radiofrequency ablation is a safe and feasible treatment and this technique can effectively reduce the incidence of re-stenosis of implanted biliary metallic stent.

Corynebacterium glutamicum SA001 is a mutant with lactate dehydrogenase (ldhA) deletion. In order to increase metabolic flux from isocitrate to succinate, and to improve the production of succinate under anaerobic conditions,we transducted the gene aceA coding isocitrate lyase (ICL) from Escherichia coli K12 into Corynebacterium glutamicum SA001 (SA001/pXMJ19-aceA). After 12 h aerobic induction by adding 0.8 mmol/L of IPTG, the recombinant strain was transferred to anaerobic fermentation for 16 h. Succinate reached 14.84 g/L, with a productivity of 0.83 g/(L x h). Compared to C. glutamicum SA001, the activity of ICL of the recombinant strain was increased 5.8-fold, and the succinate productivity was increased 48%. Overexpression of isocitrate lyase will increase the metabolic flux of glyoxylate bypass flowing to succinate.

Objective To investigate effect of carnosine on oxygen glucose deprivation/reperfusion ( OGD/RP) induced injury in rat brain slices. Methods Injury of brain slices was determined by TTC methods. The contents of ATP, ADP and AMP were determined by high performance liquid chromatography.Reactive Oxygen species ( ROS) were determined by fluorescence methods. Results Compared with control group, rat hippocampal slices were significantly damaged by OGD/RP, indicated by light color and decreased A490 nm value of TTC staining.Meanwhile the contents of ATP and ADP were significantly decreased, and the content of AMP and ROS were significantly increased, the difference between two group was significant ( P<0.01).Pre-incubation with Carnosine (1000, 200, 40 μg/mL) significantly inhibited the light color and decreased A490 nm value of TTC staining, increased the contents of ATP, ADP and AMP, and decreased the content of ROS, the difference between two group was significant ( P <0.01 ) . Conclusion Carnosine can protect rat hippocampal slices against injury induced by OGD/RP, which may relate to improve the energy metabolism and strengthen the ability of anti-oxidative stress.

Objective:To study the collapse of the contralateral femoral head after the total hip arthroplasty (THA) in patients with bilateral steroid-induced femoral head necrosis leg-length discrepancy (LLD) influences. Methods:A total of 108 patients with bilateral steroid-induced femoral head necrosis who were treated in Honghui Hospital Affiliated to Xi′an Jiaotong University from June 2014 to June 2016 underwent THA surgery on the hip joints that had symptoms and developed to Association Research Circulation Osseous (ARCO) Ⅲ. At the same time, the non-surgical hip-preserving treatment of the non-collapsed femoral head developed to the ARCO Ⅱ stage was performed. The follow-up period was 2 years, and 98 cases were finally included. According to the size of the leg-length discrepancy [LLD<3 mm group ( n=50), LLD≥3 mm group ( n=48)] and the type of leg-length discrepancy[non collapse side longer group ( n=58) and shorter group ( n=58)], the collapse of the femoral head and the THA were observed. Results:Finally, a total of 56 cases of femoral head collapse occurred in the non collapse side of the hip, of which 50 cases underwent THA within 24 months. There were significant statistical differences in THA and femoral head collapse between LLD<3 mm group and LLD≥3 mm group, non collapse side longer group and non collapse side shorter group ( P<0.05). The 2-year survival rate without collapse in the LLD<3 mm group and LLD≥3 mm group were 52.1% and 34.0%, respectively, and the 2-year survival rates in the longer and shorter non-collapsed limb groups were 56.9% and 22.5%, respectively. Compared with patients with moderate lesions, the survival rate of femoral heads in patients with larger lesions was lower ( OR: 4.25, 95% CI: 1.55-11.26; P=0.003). LLD<3 mm group ( OR: 0.24, 95% CI: 0.06-0.50; P<0.01) or non collapse side longer group ( OR: 0.13, 95% CI: 0.04-0.29; P<0.01) had lower risk of contralateral femoral head collapse after THA. Conclusions:For patients with bilateral steroid-induced femoral head necrosis who have collapsed lateral THA, postoperative leg-length discrepancy extremities is a potential risk factor for collapse of non-collapsed femoral head. LLD<3 mm and avoiding shortening of the uncollapsed limb may reduce the risk of collapse of the uncollapsed femoral head.
