Objective To study the clinical characteristics of severe pneumonia in children , to explore the significance of neutrophil elastase detection. Methods Patients were divided to severe pneumonia group and non-severe pneumonia group Fever, cough, lung wet rale duration and image changes were statistically analyzed. The percentage of abnormal lymphocyte in peripheral blood was counted by Wright's dyeing method. The neutrophil elastase expression in peripheral blood was determinated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent analysis. Results In severe pneumonia group,atelectasis occurred in 5 cases,8 cases complicated with heart failure, 8 cases complicated with respiratory failure and 4 cases were complicated with toxic encephalopathy. In severe pneumonia group , fever time was 13.5±5.1 days, cough time was 15.1±3.2 days, the time of lung wet rale duration was 12.2±2.3 days, which were significantly longer than that of non-severe pneumonia group (t = 2.346,2.457,2.346,P < 0.05);In severe pneumonia group , pathogens included streptococcus pneumoniae , respiratory syncytial virus and adenovirus , etc.In severe pneumonia group,the percentage of abnormal lymphocyte in peripheral blood smear increased with virus infection (8.1±1.2)%. In 12 cases of severe pneumonia,the expressions of neutrophil elastase were 127.6± 12.5 ng/ml, more than that of non-severe pneumonia group (75.4 ± 6.4 ng/ml,t=3.047, P<0.05). Conclusion Severe pneumonia is a serious diseases impacting children health. Detection of neutrophil elastase shows a markedly clinical value to judge the severity of pneumonia.

Objective In human,both in vivo and in vitro,telomere shortening appears to be a major component of cell senescence and aging. However, gender specific human telomere shortening needs to be further characterized. Therefore our study is aimed at clarifying gender-dependent profiles of telomere shortening. Methods 123 peripheral blood samples were collected from healthy individuals of different ages. The mean telomeric restricted fragment (TRF) was measured using Southern Blotting with Dig-labeled probe. Results Distinguished dynamics profiles of telomere shortening were observed among different age groups. Conclusion The result indicates that there are gender specific dynamic profiles of telomere shortening. Therefore, the gender must be considered when an individual age is estimated by telomeric restricted fragment length assay.

Objective To evaluate the application of intra-operative cholangiography in cholecystectomy. Methods A total of 442 patients with biliary calculi underwent cholecystotomy were reviewed. Results Of the 442 cases, 3 were false positive and 1 was false negative radiologically. The accuracy rate was 99.1％. Conclusion The results suggested that the application of intra-operative cholangiography could decrease the incidence of residual calculi and avoid unnessary exploration and trauma of the common bile duct.

One hundred and thirty patients with esophageal carcinoma were randomly asigned into two groups:62 cases received thoracoscopic esophagectomy (TE group) and 68 cases received open thoracic esophagectomy group (OE group).All patients underwent lymph nodes dissection along bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve.Compared with OE group,TE group had a less blood loss during the lymph nodes dissection (P ＜ 0.05) and a lower incidence of pulmonary infection (P ＜ 0.05).There were no significant differences in the number of dissected lymph nodes,dissection time,incidence of temporary hoarseness,permanent hoarseness and mechanical ventilation for respiratory failure between two groups (P ＞ 0.05).The study suggests that lymph nodes dissection along bilateral recurrent laryngeal nerve can be succesfully completed by thoracoscopic esophagestomy,and it has the advantage of less intraoperative blood loss and lower incidence of pulmonary infection,compared to open thoracic surgery.

Objective To determine the frequency of polymorphism at exon 26 (C3435T) of muhidrug resistance 1 gene (MDR1) in epileptic patients in the southern Chinese and to study the association of this polymorphism with pharmacoresistance.Methods DNA samples were obtained from 134 patients,of whom 72 were resistant to antiepileptic drug treatment and 62 were responsive to the treatment. Genotypes of the C3435T polymorphism were determined by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by restriction digestion and gel electrophoresis.Genotype and allele frequencies in the drug resistant group were compared to those in the response group by Chi-square analysis.Results Of all 134 patients,33 (24.6%) had CC genotype,72 (53.7%) had CT genotype,and 29 (21.6%) had TT genotype.The frequency of CC genotype was significantly higher in the pharmaeoresistance group (33.3%) than that in the responsive group (14.5%,P=0.012).The frequency of the C allele was also significantly higher in the pharmacoresistance group (57.6%) than that in the responsive group (44.4%,P=0.03).When patients were divided by types of seizure into three groups:generalized seizure group,partial seizure group,and undefined seizure group,the CC genotype and C allele were associated with pharmacoresistance in the partial seizure group.Conclusions In the southern Chinese,the CC genotype and C allele are associated with resistance to the antiepileptic treatment.This finding needs to be verified in studies with larger sample size.

Objective To study the effect of infrasound on the changes of expression of NMDAR1 in hipp- ocampal cells.Methods Eighty-eight male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized into eleven groups:control group,90 dB/1 d,7 d,14 d,21 d and 28 d infrasound exposed groups;130 dB/1 d,7 d,14 d,21 d and 28 d infra- sound exposed groups.All the animals in the test groups were put in an infrasound field with 8 Hz,90 dB or 130 dB for 2 hours daily.Immunohistochemistry methods were used to detect the changes of intracellular expression of NMDARI in hippocampal cells.Methods The expression of NMDAR1 in hippocampus after the rats were exposed to infrasound of 8 Hz,90 dB SPL showed a procedure from reducing on the 1st day to rising on the 7th and peaked on the 14th day,then to descending on 21st day and returning to the standard level on the 28th day.Exposure to infra- sound of 8 Hz,130 dB SPL induced opposite effects on the expression of NMDAR1 compared with 90 dB SPL,which showed a process of increasing,descending,reaching to the lowest,then ascending and returning to the normal.The lowest expression of NMDAR1 occurred on the 14th day in every observed hippocampal area.Conclusion 8 Hz, 90 dB/130 dB infrasound induced certain reversible reaction in the expression of NMDAR1 of hippoeampal cells in rats,which may disturb their learning and memory function.

Objective To observe the changes of cardiac function and carotid artery structure in elderly hypertensive patients with different left ventricular geometric patterns. Methods Seventy-eight elderly patients with essential hypertension were divided into 4 groups according to left ventricular geometric patterns by ultrasonography: normal ventricular geometry group(n=34),concentric remodeling group(n=18),concentric hypertrophy group(n=11)and eccentric hypertrophy group(n=15).The 24-h ambulatory blood pressure,left ventricular function,carotid artery intima-media thickness(IMT),hemodynamic parameters and incidence of plaque were measured and compared among groups.Results Patients in concentric hypertrophy group had higher 24-h average systolic blood pressure in comparison with those in normal ventricular geometry group and concentric remodeling group(P

Objective To observe the expression of cardiotrophin-1(CT-1) in ischemia-reinfusion cardiac muscle of rats and the effect of neuregulin-1(NRG-1).Methods The model of ischemia-reinfusion cardiac muscle of rats were prepared,35 rats were randomly divided into 4 groups:model group(n=8),NRG-1 pretreatment group(n=9),pseudo-surgery group(n=8) and normal control group(n=10).The CT-1 mRNA in the observed cardiac muscle of all groups was measured by RT-PCR and the relative amount of CT-1 mRNA were calculated,and for statistical treatment.Results The CT-1 mRNA of model group was(63.96?9.34),and it was higher than that of pseudo-surgery group(36.16?5.43)and normal control group(36.84?4.64).The significant differences were found in 3 groups(F=47.37 P

Objective To study the clinical significance of antinuclear antibody (ANA),anti-thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPO-Ab) and antithyroglobulin antibody (Tg-Ab),thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH),free triiodothyronine (FT3),free thyroxine (FT4) in patients with recurrent spontaneous abortion (RSA).Methods 46 women with RSA diagnosis in out patient department in Peking University Shenzhen Hospital from March 2015 to December 2016 were recruited as the study group,20 women with normal childbirth history were enrolled as the control group,ANA was detected by indirect immunofluorescence (IIF) assay and ELISA,TSH,FT3 and FT4 were detected by chemiluminescence immunoassay technology.Results The positive rates of ANA(IIF),TPO-Ab and Tg-Ab in patients with RSA were 24％,24％ and 15％ respectively which were significantly higher than those in healthy control (P＜0.05).Serum levels of TSH,TPO-Ab and Tg-Ab in patients with RSA were 2.70 ± 1.38 mIU/L,38.99 ± 10.18 IU/ml and 3.07 ± 1.69 IU/ml respectively,which were significantly higher than those in healthy cases (P＜0.05).Conclusion ANA and antithyroid antibodies were closely related with RSA.It is very important to screen ANA and antithyroid antibodies for etiological diagnosis and appropriate intervention in patients with RSA to reduce the incidence of abortion.

Objective To analyze the correlation between functional single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)in TYMS gene and the prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)patients treated with transcatheter arterial chemoembolization (TACE).Methods Five functional SNPs in TYMS gene were genotyped in a cohort of 41 9 unresectable Chinese HCC patients treated with TACE and prognosis analysis was performed.Results No SNP significantly associated with OS of HCC,but in patients with only TACE treat-ment,SNPs rs523230 exhibited significant associations with death risk in HCC patients under the additive model.Patients over 60 years old,SNP rs9967368 exhibited significant associations with death risk in HCC patients under the recessive model.Conclusion Genetic variations in TYMS gene may be a potential biomarker for predicting clinical outcome of HCC patients treated with TACE.
