Objective To investigate the diffusion changes in ipsilateral substantia nigra after a chronic striatum infarction with diffusion tensor imaging ( DTI ) and its connotation for clinical lecture. Methods Participators underwent a DTI scan and were divided into three groups. The striatum infarction (SI) group consisted of twenty patients with chronic basal ganglia infarction with striatum involved, while the non striatum infarction (NSI) group consisted of another twenty patients with chronic basal ganglia infarctions without striatum involved. The control group consisted of twenty healthy volunteers. Before the DTI scan all patients underwent a clinical evaluation with Modified Rankin Scale (mRS) and Barthol Index, and the four patients of SI group with symptoms like Parkinson disease underwent an additional evaluation with the third subscale of Unified Parkinson' s Disease Rating Scale ( UPDRS Ⅲ ). Results Compared with NSI and control groups, the infarct side substantia nigra MD of SI group increased by 30. 86 percent (t =40.07,P=0.000) and 31.42 percent (t =42. 64,P =0.000). The FA values from the three groups were not different. There were four patients with some symptoms like Parkinson disease in SI group. Compared with those patients without symptom like Parkinson disease in SI group, the infarct side substantia nigra MD of these four patients increased by 22 percent(t = 18.03, P =0. 01 ). Moreover, the infarct side substantia nigra MD of these four patients was correlated with their UPDRS Ⅲ positively ( r = 0. 97, P = 0. 03 ).Conclusions The secondary degeneration in the ipsilateral side substantia nigra after striatum infarction could be detested quantitatively with diffusion tensor imaging. The secondary degeneration in substantia nigra may be responsible for the symptoms like Parkinson disease in striatum infarction patients.

BackgroundIron-containing foreign body trapped in the eyeball wall without affecting the opticus occurs occasionally in clinic. Operation always is performed in an attempt to avoid the deposition of rust in different tissues of the eye-balls. However,a few animal experimental studies showed that a small foreign body does not affect the retina and opticus in the period of three months. The question of whether surgery needs to be carried out is worth discussion. ObjectiveThe aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of posterior intrascleral iron foreign body on the rabbit retina and opticus. MethodsTwelve healthy adult Japan flap-eared white rabbits were randomly divided into two groups. Medium carbon iron with rust or without rust( size of 2. 0 mm × 1. 0 mm×0. 2 mm) were implanted into the posterior sclera of the left eye to create the animal model with iron foreign body in the eyeball wall. The cornea, anterior chamber, crystalline lens, vitreous and fundus of the rabbits were observed under a slit lamp microscope 1weekbeforeoperationand 1week, 2weeks, 1monthand 3months after operation.Flash electroretinogram(F-ERG) and flash visual evoked potential (F-VEP) were recorded at the time points mentioned above. All the rabbits were sacrificed and the eye balls were extracted at the end of the experiment, and the position of the iron foreign body was determined. The histopathological examinations of the retina and opticus were performed under the light microscope. This experiment complied with the Regulations for the Administration of Affair Concerning Experimental Animals by State Science and Technology Commission. ResultsThere were no statistical differences for the a-wave amplitude of F-ERG among different time points( F =1. 885,P =0. 129 ) and different treatment groups ( F =1. 188, P =0. 340 ), as with the ERG b-wave amplitude ( time: F =2. 73, P =0. 064 ; group : F =1. 114, P =0. 367). The differences in the latencies of F-VEP N1-wave were insignificant among the different time points( F =1. 605, P =0. 263 ) as well as various groups ( F=1. 556, P =0.314 ), and those of F-VEP P1 -wave were not evidently changed ( time: F =2. 329, P =0. 092 ; group : F =2. 186, P =0. 103 ). No correlations were seen between the time factor and grouping factor ( P > 0. 05 ). There was no apparent siderosis bulbi change during the follow-up duration. No morphological abnormality in the retina and optical nerve was found under the light microscope. At the end of the experiment, intrascleral iron foreign body was wrapped by surrounding tissue in a stable condition. Conclusions The small posterior intrascleral iron foreign body, whether it is oxidized or not, does not produce distinctive functional or pathological damage on retina and opticus in the short term.

Journal of Forensic Medicine 2002;18(3):132-136
OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the relationship between tryptase in serum and anaphylaxis.
METHODS:
The concentrations of tryptase in the sera of heart blood in three persons died from anaphylaxis shock were detected by ELISA. The first sample was obtained from a man, aged 38, died of injecting Amikacin. The second sample was obtained from a man, aged 42, died of injecting Cephradine. The third sample was from a woman, aged 39, died of injecting Lincomycin. All samples were stored in -20 degrees C.
RESULTS:
The concentrations of tryptase in sera were 52 ng/ml, 121 ng/ml and 0.73 ng/ml. It was unknown why the concentration of tryptase in the third sample was normal.
CONCLUSION
In fetal anaphylaxia reaction tryptase measurement is a useful indicator, but the diagnosis is not to be based on the test alone.

Journal of Zhejiang University. Science. B 2005;6(6):483-490
The "Huang gua" melons were measured for their physical properties including firmness and static elastic modulus. The vibrational characteristics of fruits and vegetables are governed by their elastic modulus (firmness), mass, and geometry. Therefore, it is possible to evaluate firmness of fruits and vegetables based on their vibrational characteristics. Analysis of the vibration responses of a fruit is suggested for measuring elastic properties (Firmness) non-destructively. The impulse response method is often used to measure firmness of fruits. The fruit was excited using three types of balls (wooden, steel and rubber) and the vibration is detected by an accelerometer. The Instron device was used to measure the static elastic modulus of the inner, middle and outer portions of melon flesh. Finite element (FE) technique was used to determine the optimum excitation location of the chosen measurement sensor and to analyze the mode shape fruits. Four types of mode shapes (torsional or flexural mode shape, first-type, second-type spherical mode and breathing mode shape) were found. Finite element simulation results agreed well with experimental results. Correlation between the firmness and resonant frequency (r2=0.91) and between the resonant frequency and stiffness factor (r2=0.74) existed. The optimum location and suitable direction for excitation and response measurement on the fruit were suggested.

Chinese Journal of Medical Genetics 2007;24(1):35-37
OBJECTIVETo study the genetic feature of weak D type 15 allele (RHD845A) in a Chinese family.
METHODSRh D, C, c, E and e phenotypes of 4 members in a weak D type 15 family were tested by serological and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), D antigen was proven by indirect antiglobulin test. A pair of primers specific for RHD845A were designed, and a sequence specific primer-PCR (PCR-SSP) method was established to detect RHD845A allele in all family members. Subsequently the dual-tube PCR method was used to determine the RHD zygosity of 4 members.
RESULTSThe RHD845A allele existed in all 4 family members and the RHD zygosity test showed that all members were RHD +/RHD + homozygous. The parents and nephew possessed one normal RHD gene as RHD845A allele carriers, which caused RhD positive. The proband and his old-sister took two RHD845A alleles, which caused weak D phenotype.
CONCLUSIONThe proband is the weak D type 15 allele homozygous. The weak D type 15 gene is an ancestral allele, but not a mutation.
