1.Current Status and Expectation of the Biopharmaceutical Industry in China
China Biotechnology 2006;0(06):-
Biotech is currently the fastest growing sector in drug industry. Globally biotech products generated revenues of $55bn in 2004, in a total drug market worth $550bn. The USA is the primary market of biotech products, being the source of approximately half of sales in 2004. About 55% of biopharmaceuticals’ sales in 2004 came from the five leading products (Erythropoietin,Interferon,Human insulin,G-CSF,Rituximab).Great progress has been made in the biotech market of China over the last few years. About 60%~70% of recombinant protein biopharmaceuticals are expressed in mammalian cells in USA and EU, while most recombinant protein biopharmaceuticals are expressed in E.coli in China. Most biopharmaceuticals expressed in mammalian cell can’t be manufactured in China. The biotech industry comprise numerous, mostly small organizations. These organizations typically employ less than 100 people. Most biotech companies have never brought a product to market before they disappear. Therefore, it is very important for biotech companies to make an appropriate development strategy.

Objective To investigate the effects of selective cyclooxygenase-2(COX-2) inhibitor nimesulide on the proliferation of colon adenocarcinoma cells in vitro and the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-2(MMP-2).Methods The human colon cancer cell lines HT-29 and HCT-116 were employed in the study, grouped as nimesulide group,DMSO control group and blank control group. After treatment with nimesulide, the inhibitory effect of nimesulide on the proliferation of cancer cells was quantified by MTT assay, and the expression of MMP-2 in the cells was detected by quantitative zymography. Results Nimesulide inhibited the proliferation of HT-29 and HCT-116 cells in time and dose-dependent manners. The inhibitory effect on HT-29 cells was stronger than that on HCT-116 cells.Nimesulide down-regulated the MMP-2 expression in HT-29 cells, whereas the expression in HCT-116 cells remained unchanged. Conclusion Nimesulide can obviously inhibit the growth of colon cancer HT-29 cells with positive COX-2 protein, suggesting that nimesulide may down-regulate the expression of MMP-2 by inhibiting the activity of COX-2.
3.Applicability of capacity of sexual self-defense assessment scale in psychiatric patients without mental retardation.
Journal of Forensic Medicine 2013;29(6):414-418
OBJECTIVE:
To explore the applicability of Capacity of Sexual Self-defense Assessment Scale (CSSAS) in psychiatric patients without mental retardation.
METHODS:
Eighty-seven cases required for assessment of the capacity of sexual self-defense were collected and evaluated by trained professionals according to CSSAS, and the results were compared to the experts' opinions.
RESULTS:
The scores of three grades of capacity of sexual self-defense (none, limited and whole) were 5.97 +/- 5.83, 32.22 +/- 10.15 and 61.60 +/- 13.02, respectively, which were statistically significant among them (P < 0.01). The correlation coefficients between items and total score were 0.59 to 0.91, the Cronbach's alpha value was 0.96, the spilt half Cronbach's alpha value were 0.94 and 0.91, respectively, and the relation coefficient between them was 0.94. According to the original cut off scores, the Kappa value between scale results and experts' opinions was 0.32 (P < 0.01). By redefining the cut off scores, the Kappa value was improved to 0.84 (P < 0.01). Two factors were extracted by means of the factor analysis. The explanation rates of variance were 46.15% and 28.93%, respectively. The accuracy of retrospective cumulative square was 94.30%.
CONCLUSION
The CSSAS could be applied in the psychiatric expertise of the capacity of sexual self-defense in psychiatric patients without mental retardation; however, the cut off scores and the factor weight should be redefined.

Journal of Third Military Medical University 2003;0(18):-
Objective To evaluate the potential roles of nimesulide, a nonsteroidal anti inflammatory drug (NSAID), on the proliferation and the expression of E cadherin of human colon adenocarcinoma cell lines. Methods The human colon cancer cell lines HT 29 and HCT 116 were employed in the study. After treatment with nimesulide, the inhibitory effect of nimesulide on the proliferation of cancer cells was quantified by MTT assay, and the expression of E cadherin in the cells was detected by immunohistochemical streptavidin/peroxidase method. Results Nimesulide inhibited the proliferation of HT 29 and HCT 116 cells in time and dose dependent manners. The inhibitory effect on HT 29 cells was stronger than that on HCT 116 cells. Nimesulide up regulated the E cadherin expression of HT 29 cells, whereas the expression level of HCT 116 cells remained unchanged. Conclusion Nimesulide can obviously inhibit the growth of colon cancer cells HT 29 overexpressing cyclooxygense 2 protein, suggesting that nimesulide may up regulate the expression of E cadherin through the inhibition of COX 2 activity, resulting in decrease of the invasion and metastatic ability of tumor cells.

Objective To evaluate the efficiency of Finasteride in treating inflammatory hemospermia and approach the mechanism of action. Methods 56 cases of hemospermia were randomly divided into two groups. The experimental group (n = 30) was treated with Finasteride combined with antibiotic for 1 month, while the control group(n=26) was treated only with antibiotics for 1 month. The expression of VEGF in sperma was de-tected by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in pretherapy and post-treatment. Results Hemospermia disappeared in 28 cases of experiment group(28/30, 93.3%) and in 17 cases of control group(15/30,57.7%),with significant difference. The expression of VEGF degrade in post-treatment. Conclusions Hemospermia can be treated more effective with finastefide combined with antibiotics. The mechanisms may be associated with Finas-teride can reduce VEGF synthesis and inhibit the microvascular formation.
