Objective To investigate the capability of bluetongue virus(BTV)dsRNA inducing IFN-β from human cells. Methods Artificial complex interfemn inducer polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid (PolyI:C).BTV and BTV dsRNA were added to A549(human lung cancer cell)and HEL(human lung normal cells)culture system in difierent concentrations.IFN-β in culture median was detected by ELISA.Results Though all of the 3 reagents could induce IFN-β,BTV dsRNA significanay induced the highest level of IFN-β.The production of IFN-β was induced by BTV dsRNA in dose dependence.BTV dsRNA induced IFN-β level from HEL Was higher than that from A549(P<0.05).Conclusion BTV dsRNA Can induce IFN-β from human cells effectively, which shows its potential of an endogenous IFN-β inducer.

Curriculum of introduction to clinical medicine(ICM) in the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine was analyzed. Characteristics of ICM course in the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine were: early setting, rich in content, long duration and focusing on clinical. ICM course between Guangxi Medical University and University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine were compared. Taking advantages of ICM course in the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Medicine was conductive to better understanding the importance , teaching objectives and means of ICM course . The teaching quality evaluation system of ICM course would be built in the future.

Objective To evaluate the biomechanical effectiveness of hyaluronidase (HAase) on rabbit auricular cartilage in the early stage. Methods HAase in 3 different concentrations (75 U/ml,150 U/ml,300 U/ml) were injected subcutaneously to rabbit auricle in 3 groups, while normal saline were injected as control. For the comparison of biomechanism properties among different groups and different time, cartilages were harvested at 3rd and 7th day after injection, followed by stress-relaxation assay. Results Auricular cartilage displayed different levels in control group compared with other groups in elastic modulus (P<0.05) and maxmum stress (P<0.05) in 3th day as well as 7th day. While both in the same concentration group, there were also differences between the 3th and 7th day (P<0.05).Conclusions HAase injection can cause changes in biomechanical properties of auricular cartilage. And 7 days would not be enough for the tissue recovery biomechanically.

Objective: To explore the risk factors for ventricular aneurysm formation in patients after acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
Methods: Our research included 2 groups of AMI patients who received percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
in our hospital from 2012-04 to 2014-07 as Ventricular aneurysm group,n=146 and Control group,n=142, in which the AMI patients without ventricular aneurysm formation. The baseline condition with aneurysm related risk factors were analyzed and compared between 2 groups including age, gender, hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes, smoking, family history, MI history, anterior myocardial wall infarction, angina pectoris, left main (LM) disease, the lesion at proximal left anterior descending (LAD) artery, NYHA classiifcation III/IV, chest pain time ≥ 24 hours and ST-segment elevation ≥ 4 adjacent leads in ECG.
Results: Compared with Control group, the patients in Ventricular aneurysm group had the elder age (OR=1.023, 95% CI 1.000-1.046), higher incidence rates of smoking (OR=1.819, 95% CI 1.130-2.928) and anterior MI (OR=9.162, 95% CI 4.657-18.028), more patients with ≥ 4 adjacent ST-segment elevation (OR=6.571, 95% CI 2.426-17.798), while less patients with angina pectoris (OR=0.557, 95% CI 0.335-0.927, allP<0.05. With adjusted relating factors of age, gender, hypertension, diabetes and angina pectoris, the multivariate Logistic regression analysis indicated that smoking (regression coefifcient: 0.833, OR=2.301, 95% CI 1.283-4.125), anterior MI (regression coefifcient: 1.799, OR=6.041, 95% CI 2.831-12.894) were positively related to ventricular aneurysm formation.
Conclusion: Smoking and anterior MI were strongly related to ventricular aneurysm formation in patients after AMI.
5.Minimally Invasive Surgery Within Minimally Invasive Surgery:Development and Application of Natural Orifice Specimen Extraction Surgery for Colorectal Tumors
Cancer Research on Prevention and Treatment 2024;51(8):642-647
This article systematically elaborates on the origin and development of natural orifice specimen extraction surgery(NOSES)in the treatment of colorectal tumors.By analyzing several retrospective studies,we summarize the scientific basis, feasibility, and clinical advantages of applying NOSES in the treatment of colorectal tumors.Additionally, the article points out certain limitations in terms of operational techniques and the selection of indications for NOSES,which require continuous optimization and improvement.Advancements in technology have enabled NOSES to become increasingly integrated with new technologies.Accordingly, its application prospects in colorectal surgery and across multiple disciplines are broadened.

BACKGROUNDThis study was designed in an attempt to determine the influence of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (Her-2), and Ki-67 expressions in patients with breast cancer.
METHODSPre- and post-neoadjuvant chemotherapy, paired-tumor specimens from 103 patients with breast cancer administrated with anthracycline or anthracycline combined taxane regimen were collected. Immunohistochemical staining for ER, PR, Her-2, and Ki-67 was performed by the DAKO EnVision method.
RESULTSAmong the 103 cases, five patients (4.9%) had a complete response (CR), 82 (79.6%) partial response (PR), 15 (14.6%) stable disease (SD), and one (0.9%) progressive disease (PD), yielding an overall response rate (CR + PR) of 84.5%. Nine patients achieved pathological CR. There was a significant decrease in the average index of Ki-67 postneoadjuvant chemotherapy, compared with that before chemotherapy (24.1% vs. 39.7%, P < 0.001). After neoadjuvant chemotherapy, the changes of Ki-67 in different subtypes of breast cancer were different (P < 0.001), and these changes correlated with response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (P < 0.001). No significant changes in immunohistochemical expression were observed for ER, PR and Her-2.
CONCLUSIONSNeoadjuvant chemotherapy apparently reduced Ki-67 index in primary breast carcinomas, but profiles for ER, PR and Her-2 were not significantly different before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy. The change of Ki-67 correlated with molecular subtypes and response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy, suggesting that Ki-67 index was a surrogate marker to predict the treatment response of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
