Objective:
To observe the deposition of complement C3d at different development stages in human normal organs and tissues, and investigate the significance of its deposition.
Methods:
Using immunohistochemical methods, the deposition of C3d was detected at different development stages of 60 normal human organs and tissue specimens and double staining was performed in some specimens. Ninty-five cases of other organs or tissues were collected as control group.
Results:
In 50 of 60 livers, it was observed the deposition of C3d in Glisson′s capsule and periportal sheath, with irregular linear network-like disposition surrounding the portal sheath. In different age groups, the expression of C3d was more beyond the 20 year-old group than 3 to 20 year-old group. There wasn′t any expression of C3d under 3-year-old group. Under the immuning electron micrograph, C3d depositing at the Glisson′s capsule was observed, without immuning compounding. Thirty in 40 spleens, deposition of C3d in capsules, arteries of lymphatic sheath, follicles in the spleen was observed.
Conclusions
The deposition of C3d in Glisson′s capsule, splenic trabeculae, fibrous sheath, endarterium of liver and spleen arterioles, within normal human tissues from patients elder than 3 years, are osmosis/immunogenic deposition. The deposition of C3d is a normal physiological phenomenon, and treatment of the deposition of C3d should be avoided, as it is an immune complex or immuning reaction phenomenon.

ObjectiveTo study the expression of insulin-like growth factor Ⅱ mRNA-binding protein 3 ( IMP3 ) and its clinicopathological significance in breast cancer.MethodsThe Maxvision immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expression of IMP3 protein in 103 cases of breast cancer and the adjacent normal breast tissues.Stem-loop real-time RT-PCR was used to detect the expression level of IMP3 mRNA in 30 cases of breast cancer and the matched non-tumor adjacent tissues. The relationship between the expression of IMP3 and the clinicopathological features of breast cancer was analyzed.Results62 cases were infiltrative ductal carcinoma,3cases were invasive lobular carcinoma,9 cases were microinfiltrative intraductal carcinoma, and 29 cases were special type of carcinoma. The difference of IMP3 expression between breast cancer group and normal breast tissue group had statistical significance( t =19.630,P =0.000)by t test. For infiltrative ductal carcinoma patients,IMP3 expression had no significant relation with age, tumor size, lymph node metastasis, histological grade,pTNM stage,ER,PR,or HER-2 ( P > 0.05 ).IMP3 mRNA expression level of was significantly higher in tumor tissues than in the adjacent normal tissues (P < 0.05 ).No significant association was found between the expression of IMP3 and the histological grade, tumor size, lymph node metastasis ( P > 0.05 ).ConclusionIt is possible that IMP3 plays an important role in the generation, progression, invasion and metastasis of breast cancer.

From 2006 to 2008, the susceptibility of different species of animal hosts to Campyebacter jejubni infection was observed in various areas of Jiangsu province, in which the API Campy System was used to perform the biochemical identification and the multiple PCR assay was employed to analyse the C.jejuni isolates from 3010 specimens of fouls. Cattle, pigs and monkeys, and in addition, the susceptibility of isolates to various antibiotics was also determined. In these specimens investigated 402 samples were found to be positive in the detection of C.jejuni with a positive detection rate of 13.36%. The positive detection rates in chicken, water fouls, milk cows, pigs, monkey, red crowned crane and wapiti were 15.83% (258/1630), 10.4% (52/100), 8.24% (42/510), 15.63% (25/160), 15% (15/100), 12.5% (15/80) and 0% (0/30) respectively. Meanwhile, the antibiotics to which the isolates from different hosts showed high rate of sensitivity to 27 antibiotics of 10 varieties included: chloromycetin (100%), Almocylin (99.7%), amicarcin (92.59%), cefprozil (91.67%), alchimycin (90.74%); while the antibiotics to which these isolates showed high rate of resistance were compound neoromin (99.7%), cefoperazone (99.07%), trimethoprim (97.22%), cepronatin (91.67%), cepromondo (99,07%) respectively. It is evident that the susceptibility of different hosts to C.jejuni infection and the status of drug-resistance of the isolates appear to be quite different and more complicated in Jiangsu province.

To understand the possibility of schistosomiasis transmission on the East Route Project of the South-to-North Water Diversion Project, a survey of endemic status of schistosomiasis in Weishan Lake area was conducted. A cluster sampling of 2086 boatmen were screened with DDIA Kit, and the positive ones were examined with Kato-Katz technique. Meanwhile, a questionnaire survey about schistosomiasis control was carried out to collect the data about the boatmen's general information and knowledge , attitude and practice (KAP). The results showed there were no schistosomiasis patients. However, there exist potential risk factors for schistosomiasis transmission because of the bad hygiene habits and the poor knowledge of schistosomiasis prevention in boatmen.
