Free iliac bone graft with microvascular anastomosis was performed on 12 dogs to repair a mandibular defect. Similar operation but no microvascular anastomosis was performed on 8 dogs which served as control. Microscopic morphological observations showed that as the stages of necrosis, revasculari2a-tion, and new bone formation were not present in the dogs with microvascular anastomosis, the healing process was much faster than those without microvascular anastomosis.It is concluded that a free vascularized bone graft is superior to a conventional bone graft without vascular anastomosis especially in repairing a massive bone defect.

Objective To summarize clinical experience in removal of residual metallic foreign body in the soft tissue.Methods Clinical data of 742 cases with residual metallic foreign body in the soft tissue were analyzed.All the patients were forward from other hospitals with failed removal of the foreign body.Second surgery was performed in our hospital by grasping forceps using 3D-locator under the guidance of the C-shaped arm X-ray machine.Results Foreign body,such as scrap-iron,broken needle,nails,wine and so on located at different regions of soft tissues including neck,chest and abdomen,pelvis,and the four limbs were all successfully taken out.Removal rate of the foreign body was 100％.No complications such as bleeding,infection and nerve damage was occurred.The mean time of the procedures and radiation exposure for the removal surgery was 5 minutes.Conclusion Using 3D-locator and grasping forceps under the guidance of the X-ray,the residual metallic foreign bodies can be removed safely and efficiently.

No. Ⅱ fluorocarbon blood substitute in divided doses was infused into the rats in a 12-day-period. Pathomorphological changes of the various organs of the animals were observed dynamically in the first year after the completion of the infusion. Fluorocarbon particles mainly accumulated in the organs with abundant reticulo-endothelial tissue particularly the liver and spleen. The changes of the weight of the liver and spleen and the existence of foam cells could be considered as the criteria to indicate the severity of the accumulation. It was found that at the end of the first year after the completion of No. Ⅱ fluorocarbon blood substhue infusion, the liver and spleen essentially resumed their normal weight but a small number of foam cells still existed, However, accumulated fluorocarbon particles exerted no harmful effects on the functions and structures of the organs observed.

Objective To investigate the long-term effect of direct percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on left ventricular remodeling in patients aged ≥75 years with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).Methods 108 cases of patients with acute myocardial infarction were collected into the study.Direct PCI were completed in patients in PCI group within 12 hours of onset.Patients in non-PCI group received conventional conservative treatment with drugs.Patients were followed up for 0.5-8.0 years,and cardiac function (NYHA) and the detected ultrasonic cardiogram were evaluated during follow-up.Results The 106 patients received follow-up.Two female patients who were not treated with PCI died during follow-up,one patient died of sudden cardiac death and another patient died of severe pneumonia.Compared with non-PCI group,direct PCI group showed that cardiac function (NYHA) grade was lower(t=3.17,P＜0.05),the end-systolic and end-diastolic volume of left ventricle were less(t=3.50、3.90,all P＜0.01),the left ventricular ejection fraction was increased (t=2.00,P＜0.05),the ventricular wall motion index was smaller (t=2.96,P＜0.01).E/A ratio was higher,E wave deceleration time was shorter,and left ventricular mass index was smaller (t=4.04,4.29,4.70,respectively,all P＜0.01),the left ventricular long and short axis diameter were decreased (t=2.30,t=5.53,P＜0.05 or 0.01),and Spherical index was increased (t=2.97,P＜0.01).Conclusions Direct PCI treatment improves chronic ventricular remodeling in elderly patients with AMI and contributes to long-term improvement in cardiac function.

The thoracic aorlae of 39 goats and the inferior venae cavae of 9 goats were anastomosed experimentally with the Large Blood Vessel Anastomat. The pathological changes of these vessels were observed dynamically within one year after the operation. It was found that the Large Blood Vessel Anastomat was rather effective. The vessels anastomosed with this instrument showed a better result than those anastomosed with manual suture.
