1.Inhibitory Effect of Growth-inhibitor on Isochrysis galbana and Inhibition of Antioxidants on Growth-inhibitor Damage to Its Cells
Progress in Biochemistry and Biophysics 2006;0(11):-
The inhibitory effects of growth-inhibitor on the growth of Isochrysis galbana, malondialdehyde (MDA) content and activities of antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase and peroxidase) were studied. And the inhibition effects of 4 species of antioxidants on this damage to its cells were also investigated. The results showed that 0.10 mg/L of GI marked decreased cell densities, activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and peroxidase (POD), and MDA content increased. With increase of GI concentrations, cell densities and activities of SOD and POD decreased sharply, and MDA content increased obviously. When concentration of GI was 0.30 mg/L, the cell densities, activities of SOD and POD decreased to 0.05, 0.56 and 0.59 folds of the control, respectively, and MDA content increased to as higher as 2.2 folds of that of the control set. L-Ascorbic acid, citrazinic acid, lenediamiaetetraacetic acid disodium salt (Na2EDTA) and 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole could decrease MDA content obviously, and marked increased cell densities and activities of SOD and POD. When 4 species of antioxidants were added to the medium, the cell densities, and activities of SOD and POD increased to as high as 1.38~1.90, 1.49~2.12 and 1.55~2.13 folds of that of the control set, respectively, and MDA content decreased by 57.7%~87.9%. It was indicated that the excess active oxygens were produced under growth-inhibitor stress and active oxygen participated in the damage of growth-inhibitor to Isochrysis galbana; the L-ascorbic acid, citrazinic acid, lenediamiaetetraacetic acid disodium salt and 3-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyanisole could effectively inhibit membrane lipid peroxidation and further alleviated algal damage.

Objective To investigate the early post-operative nutritional support for kidney transplant recipients. Methods Totally 67 patients who received early post-operative nutrition supports were randomly divided into three groups:group A (n = 24,relatively high nitrogen intake),group B (n = 25,intermediate nitrogen intake) and group C (n = 18,relatively low nitrogen intake). Two weeks after operation, albumin, hemoglobin, the nutrition indieators, serum lipids, and renal function 1 day before operation and 2 weeks after operation were evaluated. Results Body weight was significantly different among three groups;the nitrogen balance in group A was significantly better than those in groups B and C (P <0.05);albumin and hemoglobin were not significantly different between group A and group B (P > 0.05),but were significantly higher than those in group C (P < 0.05).The renal function in group C was significantly better than those in group A and group B (P < 0.05).The triglyceride level was not significantly different among three groups, while the cholesterol level in group A was significantly higher than those in group B and group C (P < 0.05),but not between group B and group C.Conclusion Proper nitrogen intake in early post-operative nutrition support can improve the recovery of renal function and nutritional status in kidney transplant recipients.

Objective: To assess the peculiarity in fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) uptake in patients with bronchial alveolar carcinoma. Methods: From December, 1998 to April, 2002, 22 patients with bronchial alveolar carcinoma (BAC) were imaged with FDG-PET (positron emission tomography) before surgery. Their maximum and mean standard uptake value (SUVmax and SUVmean ) of tumor and SUV of normal lung (SUVlung) were measured. Results: All tumors were detected by FDG-PET. FDG uptake of tumor was higher than that of normal lung (P

Objective To investigate the clinicopathological characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of huge adrenal tumor. Methods Retrospectively analysed the clinical data of the 2 patients with huge adrenal tumor more than 10 cm in diameter, who were admitted in our hospital from September 2013 to January 2015.Clinical manifestations, treatment and prognosis were evaluated. Results Two patients were both suspected of adrenocortical carcinomas.Case 1 was a 28-year-old female.Laparoscopic surgery was performed at first but was conversed to open palliative adrenalectomy due to tumor rupture and bleeding. The postoperative pathology was adrenocortical carcinoma. The patient died of gastrointestinal bleeding caused by tumor metastasis 10 months later.Case 2 was a 39-year-old female, who underwent laparoscopic adrenolectomy with tumor excision completely. The postoperative pathology showed neoplasm of malignant potential, and no tumor recurred in 15 months follow-up.ConclusionsOpen surgery should be the priority if the diameter of adrenal tumor is more than 10 cm and diagnosis as suspicious of malignancy.Huge adrenocortical carcinoma is related to poor therapeutic response, and multimodality therapy may improve the prognosis.
