Primary hyperuricemia and gout are multifactorial conditions with strong genetic components. recently genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have revealed that several genes are related to primary hyperuricemia and gout which offers a thought for the research into the etiology, disease risk prediction, and prevention and treatment of this disease.

Objective To investigate the plasma PAF-AH level in initialed type 1 diabetes patients and the association between the PAF-AH gene polymorphism and type 1 diabetes mellitus. Methods155 initialed type 1 diabetes patients and 138 controls were selected in this study. Plasma PAF-AH was determined by PAF-AH Assay kit, and the PAE-AH gene G994t genotypes were detected by PCR. ResultsThe activity of plasma PAF-AH in the patients with type 1 diabetes was significantly lower than that in the controls[ (20.64 ± 6.23)nmol/(min · ml) vs (28.56 ± 4. 11)nmol/(min · ml), P ＜0.05). Compared with control group, the frequencies of the GT genotype on G994T polymorphism between type 1 diabetes patients and controls were not significantly different(8.4％ vs 7. 2％, P ＞0. 05). ConclusionThe activity of plasma PAF-AH in the patients with type 1 diabetes was significantly lower than controls. The G994T polymorphism of PAF-AH gene was not related to type 1 diabetes mellitus.

Objective To study the mechanism of apoptosis inducing and anti-invasive effects of curcumin on human lung adenocarcinoma cell (A549). Methods MTT colorimetry method, fluorescence mieroscopy, and FCM combining with PI and AnnexinV-FITC double pigmentation method were used to study the growth and apoptosis of A549 cells after being treated with curcumin, and Western blotting was used to identify apoptosis-inducing and anti-invasive effects. Results Under the effect of the curcumin, the nucleoli of A549 cells were found to be fragmented into different sized apoptosis bodies under fluorescence microscopy, and cell proliferation was obviously suppressed under the effect of curcumin in different concentrations, with the IC 50 value of 18?mol/L. When the curcumin concentration was increased from 5?mol/L to 40?mol/L, Annexin-FITC single positive cells (early apoptosis cell) were increased from 3.4% to 65.9%, and the proliferation of cells was blocked at G 2 phase. When curcumin concentration was increased from 10?mol/L to 20?mol/L curcumin effects 30 minutes, the expression of PARP in A549 cells was increased after 30 minutes. Curcumin could also down-regulate MMP-2 and up-regulate TIMP-2 expression. Conclusions Curcumin can interfere with cell growth cycle of A549 cells and suppress cell growth, which is concentration dependent. The anti- invasive effects of curcumin is probably the result of down-regulation of MMP-2 and up-regulation of TIMP-2 expression.

[Objective]Primarily discuss cases selection and operation skill of hip joint superficial substitution.[Method]From Oct.2004 to Feb.2007,10 hip joints of 8 cases were made superficial substitution,paying attention on cases selection and operation skill.[Result]All cases had no such complications as femur neck fracture,infection,joint dislocation,vessel or nerve injury,deep vein embolism or ectopic ossification in early stage.The patients' score increased to 93~99 and average 95 from 35~56 and 45 before operation,the unequal limbs were corrected for DDH cases.On X-ray measurement:40?~50?for acetabula abduction angle,44?in average;134?~143?,139?for short-handle eversion angle of femur lateral;average off-set rate was 0.20 for femur neck;no loose prosthesis or narrow femur neck,no bright zone around short-handle.[Conclusion]Hip joint superficial substitution is very fit for young people with much sports,but we should pay attention to case selection and operation skill.

Objective: In order to popularize the use of interlocking nail, the authors reviewed 81 femoral shaft fractures in 80 patients who were treated with interlocking nail from July 1988 to October 1997. Material and Method: There are 60 males and 20 females. Forty-one fractures were of left femur and 40 of right. The average age was 33 years(range 15-79 years) . Results: The results showed that 60 cases of fractures that followed up over half a year had bony union. The complications included one bone union failure due to incorrect indication. two fractures during the operation, misinserting the proximal screw in 2, and misinserting the distal screw in 3, lengthening of the extremity in 2, valgus knee in 2, deep infection in 1, delayed infection in 1, nail broken in 3, proximal screw broken in 1, distal screw broken in 1, distal screw loosening in 2. Conclusion: 1) The indication must be correctly chosen. 2) Well-trained operative technique for interlocking nail is necessary to reduce the compli cation. 3 )The patient with old or comminuted fracture fixed with G - K nail should properly delay the time to start weight bearing.

Hydrolysate of Area subcrenata (HA) was found to be effective in lowering the elevated SGPT level induced by carbon tetrachloride, thioacetamide (TAA) and pred-nisolone. In addition, HA was shown to shorten sodium pentobarbital sleeping time in both normal and carbon tetrachloride intoxicated mice. The results indicated that HA possessesa significantl protective action on liver injuries in mice.

Methods EDTA-anticoagulated venous blood was obtained from 15 healthy volunteers and pre-incubated with saline or theophylline (10 -4 M) or dexamethasone and rhIL-5(10 -8 M),respectively.The mRNA of bcl-2 and bax were determined by reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR),and their cytoplasm proteins were determined by flo cytometry. Results Analysis revealed that the bax protein express intracellular without any stimulator,but not bcl-2 in protein and mRNA levels.And culturing Eos in the presence of 10 -8 M IL-5 for 24 hours up-regulating bcl-2 mRNA ( P

Methods People in urban communities are categorized as the case group, comparison group A and comparison group B, according to whether they receive questionnaire survey, FOBT test, intestine mirror, and different follow-up results in this screening test Results No significant differences (P>0.05) are found among people from different groups. In the survey for screening related knowledge, understanding of such knowledge is significantly higher than the comparison group(P>0.01), and the knowledge of comparison group A is higher than that of comparison group B. Conclusion The higher their knowledge in screening, the higher their compliance for screening.

Human proximal tubule epithelial cell line,HK-2 cells,were cultured with various concentrations of insulin for 48 h.Human urate transporter (hUAT) mRNA was detected by realtime quantitative PCR.hUAT mRNA levels were down-regulated by insulin (5,25,125,500 μIU/ml)in a dose-dependent manner (relative expression median were 0.95,0.40,0.24,and 0.23).In vitro,the expression of hUAT mRNA in HK-2 cells is associated with the concentration of insulin.

Objective To explore the method of Oncomelania hupensis snail surveillance in transmission?interrupted re?gions of schistosomiasis,so as to provide a new pattern for the surveillance of snail status in the transmission?interrupted areas. Methods In Dongtai County,north of Jiangsu Province where the transmission of schistosomiasis was interrupted,the surveil?lance of snail status was performed by means of the village?level general survey,village?level sampling survey,snail survey in key settings of township and county,and snail reporting by residents. In addition,quality?control snail sites were set up for quali?ty control. The effectiveness and cost of the four methods of snail surveillance was compared. Results A total of 163 079 set?tings and 22 785.62 hm2 were surveyed in Dongtai County from 2008 to 2013,and 89 residual snail breeding sites were found, with a snail area of 1.48 hm2. The patterns of village?level general survey,village?level sampling survey,and snail survey in key settings of township and county were employed for investigation of 94 550,45 033 and 23 496 settings,consisting of 57.98%, 27.61%and 14.41%of total settings,and 2,0 and 6 settings were found with snails,with 0.021/thousand,0,and 0.255/thou?sand detection rates of settings with snail breading sites,respectively. The pattern of snail survey in key settings of township and county was more effective than that of village?level survey to detect snail breeding sites(χ2 =19.158,P=0). The recovery rate of quality?control snail breeding sites was 52.56%,38.27%and 73.62%for the three patterns of snail survey,respectively,and the pattern of snail survey in key settings of township and county showed a higher quality for snail survey than that of village?lev?el survey(χ2 =111.597 and 85.991,both P=0). During the period from 2008 to 2013,289 person?times reported 279 sus?pected snail habitats and 1 501 living snails,and no Oncomelania snails were found. During the 6?year period,there were 1617.5,964.7 and 527.7 thousand RMB invested for village?level general survey,village?level sampling survey,and snail sur?vey in key settings of township and county,and the cost of snail survey per hm2 was 129.88,133.6 and 162.57 RMB/hm2,re?spectively. The cost of village?level general survey and snail survey in key settings of township and county to detect a snail?breed?ing site was 808 800 and 88 000 RMB,respectively(t=12.850,P=0.000),and the cost of snail survey in key settings of town?ship and county was 10.88%of that of village?level general survey. Conclusion The snail survey in key settings of township and county is a highly effective and high?quality method for snail surveillance,which may serve as a prior way for the surveil?lance of snail status in the transmission?interrupted areas of schistosomiasis.
