Objective To investigate the effect of apoptosis with portal vein occlusion in various degrees or times and the following restoration portal vein flow on intestinal mucosal cells,to analyze its possible pathogenesis. Methods 40 healthy adults white Japanese rabbits were randomly divided into one controlled group and four experimental groups (according to portal vein half-clamping for 30 min, 45 min and portal vein full-clamping for 30 min, 45 min, divided into B1、C1、B2、C2 groups.).Each experimental group with portal vein occlusion on certain times then with restoration of portal vein flow for 2h. At choiced time rabbit guts were continuously cut to sections for HE、TUNEL staining and Bcl-2、Bax protein immunohistochemical staining,to observe the injury apoptosis in intestinal mucosa and the relationship between the expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax protein. Results Compared with control group A, down-regulation of Bcl-2 expression, up-regulation of Bax expression and the index of apoptotic cell increased were found in each experimental group. there exist significantly differences between each groups for Bcl-2 expression (P

Objective To observe the temperature-time curve of Shenque(CV8) salt moxibustion and explore the temperature starting mechanism of Shenque moxibustion and itsclinical significance.Method In the subjects treated with Shenque salt moxibustion, periumbilical and umbilical bottom temperatures were measured simultaneously and recorded using a two-channel temperature logger, and the temperature-time curve was drawn and analyzed to preliminarily explore its temperature starting mechanism according to the experimental results.Result Periumbilical temperaturemeasurement showed that the temperature that every cone of moxa produced reached more than 43℃and the maximum temperature reached 44.9℃. The time that 43℃or more lasted was (4.50±2.36) min. The time that 40℃or more lasted was (8.03±2.63) min. Umbilicalbottom temperature measurement showed that the temperature reached more than 43℃at the seventh cone of moxa on average and the maximum temperature reached 44.7℃. The mean value of the maximum temperatures at the seventh to tenth cones of moxa was (43.44±1.05)℃. The time that 43℃or more lasted was (5.53±2.13) min. The time that 40℃or more lasted was(18.44±10.39) min. Conclusion Shenque salt moxibustion has the property of repeated warm stimulations, which can avoid the platform period brought about by stable warm stimulation and promote the maximization of moxibustion intensity to effectively increase clinical moxibustion quantity finally.

Objective To investigate the results and complications of hemispherotomy for drug resistant hemispheric epilepsy. Methods The authors reviewed 5 patients who were diagnosed as drug resistant hemispheric epilepsy and operated in the neurosurgery department of Peking Union Medical College Hospital from 2011 to 2013.All the 5 patients were underwent hemispherotomy after carefully multidisciplinary pre-operation evaluation. Results All patients tolerated the procedure well and the postoperative course was smooth. All the 5 patients didn`t have seizure in the period of following up of 46 to 69 months. Conclusions According to literatures and the authors` experience, hemispherotomy is as safe and efficient for hemispheric epilepsy as hemispherectomy. It is most important advance for hemispherectomy. The procedure of hemispherotomy is complex but not very difficult, illustrating a good prospect of application and extension.

Chinese Medical Sciences Journal 2004;19(1):68-71
Three cases of pituitary metastases were reported. They all had operations and the pathological examination confirming the diagnosis. The clinical features of diabetes insipidus and extraocular nerve palsy were presented. In two cases, the original tumors were bronchioloalveolar carcinoma; in the other one, the original tumor was unknown. All three cases had poor outcome. These cases illustrate the fact that a pituitary metastasis can closely mimic a pituitary benign tumor, such as pituitary adenoma. Especially in the presence of suggestive symptoms such as diabetes insipidus and/or cranical nerve paralysis, the possibility of metastatic disease in the differential diagnosis of a pituitary mass should always be considered.

International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2023;31(8):623-630
Intracranial atherosclerotic disease is one of the main causes of ischemic stroke. Imaging evaluation plays an important role in the formulation of treatment strategies. More and more studies have shown that the changes in hemodynamics after stenosis may have higher predictive value for stroke onset/recurrence compared to the degree of stenosis. This article reviews the evaluation of cerebral hemodynamics in intracranial atherosclerotic diseases.

Objective To identify the levels of exposure to second-hand smoking (SHS)among Chinese adults living in the urban areas and their knowledge on the risks of SHS,to support for the Smoke-free policy. Methods Data from the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) and the International Tobacco Control Policy Evaluation China Survey (ITC China Survey) was analyzed and SAS was used to calculate the rates and 95% CI.Results In the two surveys, less than 40% of the respondents reported that their workplaces had completely stopped smoking.Participants who reported that they had seen people smoking at various public places with different rates, also they could reflect the levels to SHS exposure.Restaurants were the venue with the heaviest overall exposure (83.4%-95.6%),followed by the workplace (53.3%-84.0%).Exposure was low in health facilities, schools and public transport venues. In the GATS survey,60.6% smokers and 68.5% non-smokers believed that SHS could cause lung cancer, but only one-third of the participants believed that SHS could cause heart diseases in adults.Participants in the ITC China survey reported a comparatively higher level of awareness on the harm of SHS,but only 58.2% smokers believed that SHS could cause heart diseases in adults.Overall, data from the ITC China survey showed that participants' support for a comprehensive smoke-free policy in schools,health-related facilities, government buildings and in taxi were high (over 70%).However,the proportion of participants supporting comprehensive smoking-free policy at workplaces (50.9%-60.9%) was relatively low. Conclusion The proportion of indoor workplaces with complete smoking ban was low in urban areas but levels to SHS exposure were high.People's awareness of harms related to SHS and their attitude on setting up a comprehensive smoke-free workplace need to be improved.
