Huang Ti's "Nei Ching Su Wen" is the earliest classical work on medical science in ancient China. It summed up the results of observations made in long years through practice by the ancient Chinese labouring people, accumulating thereby lots of valuable knowledge and experience in different lines of medicine.Some two thousand years ago, Chinese medical scientists in the Chou and the Chin Dynasties already conceived the advanced idea of laying special emphasis on prophylactic measures, and began to adopt diet therapy as a means of medical treatment. Principles of preparing complete diet were worked out by them. And in this connection, it is mentioned in the book "Nei Ching Su Wen" that "five kinds of cereals are the means of subsistence, five kinds of cattle provide beneficial food in the form of meat, five kinds of vegetables can be used for food enrichment, and five kinds of fruits may serve as supplement." These principles point out the necessary sorts of food to constitute a complete diet and their respective positions in it. That is to say, cereals including beans and peas are the staple food and animal meat is of secondary importance, with vegetables to enrich and fruits to supplement the first two. A diet thus prepared will not only consist of all the nutritive elements needed by the human body but also represent an appropriate arrangement of the different kinds of nutrients. Such a diet is, no doubt, in accord with the dietetic theory of modern science.

By using the diagnosis related groups(DRGs) method, we analyze and compare the rationality and feasibility of outcomes and human resources distribution of clinical specialties and health care professionals.It may increase the hospital management levels and feasibility.The introduction of DRGs for the majority of hospital management may enhance the performance evaluation and human resource levels in the hospitals.

Objective To investigate the preventive effect of spironolactone on hepatic fibrosis. Methods Ninety SD rats were randomly divided into three groups. Control group consisted of 8 rats that , fed by normal food, were injected with peanut oil subcutaneously. Model group consisted of 42 rats whose liver fibrosis was induced by compound factors. Spiro nolactone-prevention group consisted of 40 rats that were given 100 mg?kg -1 spironolactone per day, by the same methods of making models as those of the model group. At the end of weeks 2, 4, 6 and 8, 8 rats were randomly taken out of model group and spironol actone group and then were sacrificed. The expressions of TGF- ? 1 , PDGF- BB and ? -SMA in hepatic tissues were detected with immunohistochemical met hods. Objective To investigate the effect of nesfatin-1 (NSF-1) on T-type Ca2+ channel currents in adult mouse dorsal root ganglion (DRG) neurons and possible signal transduction mechanisms involved.Methods We measured the expression of melanocortin 4 receptors(MC4-R)in mouse DRG by using western blotting analysis.The whole-cell patch clamp technique was used to record the effects of NSF 1 on T-type Ca2+ channel currents in small DRG neurons and several ligands were experimented to further clarify relevant signaling pathways.Results MC4-Rs were abundantly expressed in DRG neurons.NSF-1 enhanced T-type calcium channel currents in a dose-dependent manner in small DRG neurons in mice.NSF-1 mediated increment of T-type calcium channel currents was blocked by the MC4-R antagonist HS024,phosphokinase C antagonists GF109203X,and chelerythrine chloride,while the blockade of phospohokinase A PKI 6-22 elicited no such effects.Conclusions NSF-1 can enhance T type calcium channel currents in small DRG neurons through an MC4-R-dependent PKC signaling pathway.

Objective To investigate the dynamic expressions and clinical significance of CD141, CD31 and CD95 on circulating endothelial cells (CEC) in febrile and polyuria phases of patients with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome (HFRS). Methods Expressions of CD141, CD31 and CD95 in the peripheral blood of patients with HFRS in febrile and polyuria phases were detected by flow cytometry. Comparisons among groups were done by one-factor analysis of variance. Results The percentages of CD141+ CD31+ cells in the peripheral blood cells from patients with HFRS in febrile and polyuria phases were 9.47% ±1.98 % and 8. 26% ±1.55 %, respectively, which were both higher than that (7.05%±1.45%) in healthy controls (F=8. 42; P=0. 000 and P=0. 029, respectively), and that in febrile phase was higher than that in polyuria phase (P = 0. 048). The mean fluorescent intensity (MFI) of CD95 on CEC of HFRS patients in febrile and polyuria phases were both significantly higher than that in healthy controls (F=19. 93; P=0. 000 and P=0. 000 respectively), and that in febrile phase was higher than that in polyuria phase (P=0. 049). In the febrile phase of HFRS,the MFI of CD95+ on CEC in patients with all clinical types were all higher than that in healthy controls (F= 17. 36; all P=0. 000), and that in severe (critical) type was the highest and higher than those in mild type and moderate type (P=0. 002 and P=0. 009, respectively). Conclusion The proportion of CEC and expression of CD95 on CEC are possibly related with the phase and severity of HFRS.

Objective To compare the differences in mucin-histochemistry and etiology of Barrett's esophagus (BE) intestinal metaplasia (IM) , cardiac intestinal metaplasia (CIM) and gastric antrum intestinal metaplasia (GA-IM). Methods Alcian blue /periodic acid-schiff (AB/PAS) and high iron diamine / alcian blue (HID/AB) histochemical methods were used to classify IM in BE, cardia and gastric antrum, and IM were classified into three subtypes: complete small intestinal type (type Ⅰ ) , incomplete small intestinal type (type Ⅱ) and incomplete colonic type (type Ⅲ). Compared the prevalence of different subtypes of IM in above-mentioned sites, and investigated their relationships among the symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection. Objective To evaluate the value of Bolus chase technology for angiography of lower extremity. Methods 12 cases with diabetes foot or leg pain were examined with Bolus chase technology. Results Low extremity artery thrombosis was found in 12 cases. Conclusion Bolus chase technology is better than standard DSA in the display of lower extremity vessel.
