Even though ultrasonography is a primary tool for evaluation of gynecological pelvic mass, CT can be helpful when ultrasonography is suboptimal either because of abundant intestinal gas or marked obesity. Authors experienced 3 cases of hydatidiform mole demonstrated by CT. The findings of hydatidiform mole are enlargement of uterus, low density in the uterine cavity, irregular soft tissue mass with small multiple cysts, and strong contrast enhancement of the soft tissue mass within the uterine cavity. CT can be a useful diagnostic tool for differentiation of hydatidiform mole from choriocarcioma because of good visualization of uterine wall and pelvic structures.

Many studies have shown that the incidence of type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is increasing with an annual of 2% to 5%.As the same with type 2 diabetes mellitus,T1DM is also a risk factor for stroke.Although some T1DM studies have taken stroke as a component of the composite endpoint of cardiovascular events,a few studies have focused on the risk of stroke in patients with T1DM.Recent studies have shown that the risk of stroke in patients with T1DM is significantly higher than those without diabetes mellitus, especially in the population under the age of 50.In addition, the T1DM patients died of the risk of stroke are 3 to 4 times higher than the general population. This article reviews the relationship between T1DM and stroke.

Effective prevention is the best approach for reducing the burden of stroke. The reduction of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol with statins may decrease the risks of patients with the first ever stroke and ischemic stroke or recurrent stroke in patients with transient ischemic attack. In stroke prevention, the treatment of statins has become the most important advance following aspirin and antihypertensive treatment. This article reviews the roles of statins in the prevention of stroke.

Objective To explore the outcome of monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS). Methods The data from 14 MGUS patients in our hospital including clinical features, outcome and change of M protein concentration were analyzed retrospectively. Results The MGUS didn't have the clinical manifestations of multiple myeloma (MM), the time of outcome from MGUS to MM was about 4-20 years (mean time, 10 years). The most types of MM were IgA and IgG, 6 cases were IgA type, 6 cases were IgG type and 2 cases were light chain type. The concentration of immune globulin in general showed an upward trend year by year. A few showed fold lines ascend. Conclusions The elevated monoclonal immunoglobulin may develop into MM after many years. We must follow up frequently to avoid error diagnosis and missed diagnosis.

Objective To explore the advantages of the bedside DR,taking the quality analysis of the chest image taken from the bedside digital radiography systems (DR) and computed radiography system (CR).Method All of the 900 pieces chest image taken by bedside DR,compared with the 900 pieces CR image randomly chosen. Results Bedside DR could further reduce the rate of the remake and the radiation dose, and provided more excellent image information. Conclusion The chest image taken by bedside DR has obviously advantage than CR.It can play a positive role in the diagnosis and treatment of the critical patient and surgical patient.

To examine the usefulness of cardiac MRI in assessing patients (pt) with congenital heart diseases(CHD), informations obtained from MRI and echocardiogrphy (echo) were compared in 91 consecutive pt with CHD and was correlated with findigs at cardiac catheterization (53pt) and at surgery (71pt). Pt were studied with 1.5 Tesla MRI unit and multiplanar images of the heart and great vessels were obtained using ECG-gated multislice spin-echo technique. Age ranged from newborn to 22 years. We obtained the following results. MRI was vary useful in providing important diagnostic informations in 19pt, provided informations which was not crucial to the clinical decision in 28pt, and did not provide additional informations in 44pt. MRI was very useful in assessing complex lesions, particularly in identifying atrial situs, rudimentary ventricular chamber, criss-cross atrioventricular connection, total anomalous pulmonary venous connection, anatomy of ventricular septal defect in double outlet right ventricle, anomalous ventricular muscles, aortopulmonary collateral artery and distal pulmonary artery anatomy. En face view of the ventricular septum was very useful in clearly outlining the ventricular septal defect. MRI gave false information in 17pt. Diagnostic accuracy of MRI was poor for coarctation of the aorta in neonates and small infants, patent ductus arteriosus and pulmonary stenosis. Cardiac MRI is recommended for preoperative planning in selected pt with CHD, particularly with complex lesions.

Journal of Leukemia & Lymphoma 2012;21(7):427-429
Objective To evaluate the clinical significance of minimal residual disease (MRD)detecion in ALL-B of children by flow cytometric (FCM).Methods 52 cases of children with ALL-B were performed bone marrow MRD by FCM analisis after induction therapy,3 moths therapy, and 6 moths therapy. After that,MRD detection was performed every 6 months. According to disease risks, three group were categorized, standard risk (SR),imidiete risk (IR) and high risk(HR).Results After 6 months,SR groups MRD positive cases were 4/21(19 %),IR groups MRD position cases were 8/23 (35 %),HR groups MRD position cases were 5/8 (63 %).9 cases relapsed in all 52 patients. There were significant differrence in replased rate between the positive and negtive MRD (P<0.001). Conclution The dynamic detection of MRD by FCM can be used to evaluate the therapeutic effect and prognosis of children with ALL-B. It is also useful in adjusting treatment strategy and for following up in children with ALL.
