Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2015;14(4):337-341
American medical colleges attach great importance to the humanistic education. The rich humanities curriculum is fully integrated into the teaching practice thus the mutual penetration of medicine and the humanities is achieved. They have specific and detailed examination evaluation system and the teaching method was more practical and participatory.By contrast, nost of the medical colleges in our country neglect the humanities construction and the cultivation of medical students' humanistic spirit. The coverage of the humanities curriculum is relatively narrow and the faculty is insufficient. We should promote the development of humanistic cducation, attach importance to the construction of medical humanities, set up appropriate curriculum system, increase the investment in faculty and reform the teaching method and examination method.

Objective To study the efficacy and safety of CO2 laser microsurgery for early glottis carcinoma. Methods The data of 96 cases of early glottic laryngeal carcinoma treated with CO2 laser microsurgery were retrospectively analyzed.Surgical specimens were conventionally embedded with paraffin and serially sectioned.Sections were stained by using hematoxylin-eosin for pathologic examination. The local control rate was observed after operation. Results Among the 96 specimens,88 surgical margins were negative and 8 were positive.10 patients (10.4 %) recurrenced followed up for 3 years. The recurrence rates of Tis,T1a,T1b and T2 were 0 (0/10),4.1% (2/48),25.0 % (4/16) and 18.1% (4/22),respectively,with significant differences among groups (X2 =6.105,P < 0.05).All of 8 cases with positive margin and 2 cases with negative margin were recurrened. The recurrent rate of patients with involvement of the anterior commissure was 30.0 % (6/20),which was higher than that of patients with no tumor invasion [5.3 % (4/76)] (X2 =9.624,P < 0.01).Conclusions The safe edges can be obtained by CO2 laser microsurgery for early stage of glottis carcinoma, which have advantages in local control rate, vocal function of the larynx and curative effect.

As a kind of commonly used traditional Chinese medicine, ginseng has a high reputation at home and abroad. The research of ginseng has been expanded to medicine, pharmacy, biology, food science and other fields, with great achievements in recent years. Ginseng contains ginsenosides, volatile oil, carbohydrates, amino acids, polypeptides, inorganic elements and othser chemical constituents. Each component has extensive physiological activity, and is the base of ginseng's effect. After processing, the complicated changes are taken place in the constituents of ginseng, and some new substances produced. This paper aims to review the studies on chemical constituents and their mechanisms during ginseng processing, and the ideas, methods and the direction of the development of traditional Chinese medicine processing in the future.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2018;22(6):958-963
BACKGROUND:Recently,tissue-engineered biomaterials for annulus fibrosus repair in the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration have aroused wide attentions.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the research progress in biomaterials for the repair of annulus fibrosus in intervertebral disc tissue engineering.METHODS:PubMed database (1991-2017) was retrieved by the first author with the key words of "intervertebral disc, annulus fibrosus, material, scaffold" to search relevant articles about the use of biomaterials in annulus fibrosus repair.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Biomaterials play important roles in annulus fibrosus repair, which mainly function to recover the physical structure and mechanical function of the annulus fibrosus by promoting extracellular matrix secretion and tissue regeneration.Current materials mainly used for the repair of annulus fibrosus include natural materials, polymer materials, and biomaterials.Natural materials have good biocompatibility, biodegradability and no cytotoxicity, but their mechanical strength is poor.Polymer materials which overcome the lack of mechanical strength have repeatability, controllability,no immunogenicity, and are easy to be processed, but they have poor biocompatibility and cell affinity,as compared with the natural materials. Therefore, the selection of composite materials by integrating the advantages of different materials becomes the main trend in the annulus fibrosus repair.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) reference standards plays an important role in the quality control of Chinese herbal pieces. This paper overviewed the development of TCM reference standards. By analyzing the 2010 edition of Chinese pharmacopoeia, the application of TCM reference standards in the quality control of Chinese herbal pieces was summarized, and the problems exiting in the system were put forward. In the process of improving the quality control level of Chinese herbal pieces, various kinds of advanced methods and technology should be used to research the characteristic reference standards of Chinese herbal pieces, more and more reasonable reference standards should be introduced in the quality control system of Chinese herbal pieces. This article discussed the solutions in the aspect of TCM reference standards, and future development of quality control on Chinese herbal pieces is prospected.

Objective To investigate the imaging manifestations of lung neoplasms in pre- and post- treatment with CT-guided Argon-Helium cryoablation. Methods All the lung neoplasms in 96 patients have been treated with CT-guided percutaneous Argon-Helium targeted cryoablation. All patients have pre- and post-treatment CT scanning in measurement of lesion size and CT value. The CT scanning has been rerpeated afterl,3,6,12 months of treatment. Results Among total 96 cases, there are 82 cases of lung cancer and 14 cases of metastasis with 110 lesions(89 cases with single lesion,7 cases with multiple lesions). The Ar-He cryoablation has been given 103 times in total. The size of each lesion ranged from 1.2 cm to 15.0 cm in diameter with mean value of(4.0?2.5)cm,including 12 lesions less than 2 cm,51 lesions between 2— 4 cm,24 lesions between 4—6 cm,23 lesions over 6 cm.There are 25 patients whose lesions covered by iceball with 1 cm of overloaping it's margin. There are 63 lesions with diameter less than 4 cm gained 100% ablation rate,24 lesions with 4—6 cm diameter gained 95.8% ablation rate, and 23 lesions with over 6 cm diameter gained 69.6% ablation rate. The post-treatment CT show a progressively enlarged round, low density refrigerant area which clearly demarked with non- refrigerant area. The center of each refrigerant area has negative CT value, the mean decreased CT value of lesion instantly after the treatment are about 30— 50 HU with P
