Background Researches demonstrated that CpG ODN,a immunostimulatory sequences, has preventing and treating effect on allergic conjunctivitis caused by protein allergen. However, its effect on allergic conjunctivitis caused by fungal allergen is unclear. Objective This study aimed to investigate into whether the Th1-Th2 switching immunostimulatory CpG ODN could reverse the response in the murine allergic conjunctivitis model caused by aspergillus fumigatus. Methods A mixture of spores and hyphae of aspergillus fumigatus strain was used to induce allergic conjunctivitis in male BALB/C mice aged 6-8 weeks. This experiment was designed into preventive or therapeutical treatment program.Under both settings, allergic conjunctivitis of the animals were treated with CpG ODN,nonstimulatory GpC ODN or PBS.After the last challenge with the allergen, the clinical symptoms of the animals were scored based on the criteria of Magone. The animals were sacrificed and the histopathological examination of conjunctiva was performed.Expression of TLR4 mRNA in conjunctiva was analyzed by real-time PCR assay. The responsiveness and populations of lymphocytes in spleen and draining lymph nodes were analyzed by flow cytometry. The use complied with the Standard of Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. Results In the prevention mode.CpG ODN decreased subconjunctival infiltration compared with GpC ODN and PBS groups with the average neutrophil count index(21.25 ±11.59/section,30.75 ±11.44 section and 69.00±9.90/section,respectively).Expression of TLR4 mRNA was up-regulated significantly by CpG ODN.The clinical scores for CpG ODN group were insignificantly lower than those in GpC ODN group and PBS group(P>0.05).In the therapeutic mode, compared with GpC ODN and PBS groups, the allergic symptom score in CpG ODN group manifested significantly lower(t=4.000.t=2.750,P<0.01)and showed fewer cellular infiltration(t=4.870,t=3.829,P<0.01)and higher expression of TLR4 mRNA(P<0.01).In cultured splenic and draining lymph node cells, increased percentages of CD4+ CD25+ and CD4+ CD25+ CD69+ in CpG ODN group were observed compared with control groups(|P<0.05). Conclusion CpG ODN can relieve aspergillus fumigatus-induced allergic conjunctivitis via either subconjunctival injection or topical application by upregulating expression of TLR4 and activating Treg lymphocytes.

Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2017;35(8):585-588
Objective To analyze the clinical features and common etiology of lung nodules in children. Methods The etiology, diagnosis, radiological features from 98 hospitalized children of lung nodules were analyzed. Results Of them, 58 were male and 40 were female aged from 0.2 years old to 14.8 years old. Pulmonary infection were found in 41 cases (41.8%) including tuberculosis in 15 cases (15.3%), pulmonary fungal infection in 13 cases (13.3%), pneumonia in 11 cases (11.2%), lung trematode in 2 cases (2.0%). Pulmonary metastases were found in 28 cases (28.6%), multiple pulmonary arteriovenous fistula in 1 case (1.0%), and pulmonary contusion in 1 case (1.0%) and unknown etiology in 27 cases (27.6%). Conclusions The etiology of lung nodules is complicated, in which infectious diseases are the most commonly seen, followed by pulmonary metastases. Biopsy is the golden standard of diagnosis.

Aim The relationship between the therapeutic effect of TEA (total extract of astragalosides) on adjuvant arthritic (AA) rats and its antioxidative effects were studied . Methods The volume of non-injected hind paw of AA rats and malondialdehyde(MAD) content of arthritic synoviocytes from AA rats were measured and the proliferative responses of fibroblast, the level of superoxide anion() and the hydroxyl radical (?OH) generated in vitro were detected . Results The anti-inflammatory effect of TEA might be related to its antioxidative activity. In vitro low-level oxidative stress promoted the proliferative responses of fibroblast in rats synovium, which was marked by inhibited by TEA in a concentration-dependant manner. Further study showed that TEA could inhibit NBT reduction induced by both xanthine-xanthine oxidase and non-enzyme generated , but the inhibitory effect of this compound on activity of xanthine oxidase was obtained only at high concentration (more than 80 ?g?ml-1). It was also found that TEA could dose-dependantly inhibit the hydroxylation of benzoic acid induced by Fenton reaction generated ?OH. Conclusion TEA has significant therapeutic effects on AA rats, which might be related to its antioxidative effects

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic efficacy of combined therapy with ginsenosides (GS) and prednisone on systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).
METHODSSixty patients with SLE were assigned to 2 groups randomly by a randomizing digital table, the treated group and the control group, 30 cases in each group. All patients were treated with routine administration of prednisone, but to the treated group GS Capsule (50 mg) was given additionally twice every day, while to the control group placebo capsule of equal dosage was given instead. The total clinical efficacy, and changes of systemic lupus erythematosus disease activity index (SLEDAI), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), complement 3 (C3) and anti-ds-DNA were observed after 3-month-treatment.
RESULTSThe total clinical efficacy rate was 89.28% in the treated group and 66.67% in the control group, showing a significant difference between them (P<0.05). The improvements of SLEDAI, ESR and C3 in the treated group were more significant than those in the control group (P<0.01, P<0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe combined therapy of GS and prednisone could enhance the clinical efficacy, reduce the SLEDAI and promote the recovery of laboratory indices in SLE patients.
