Journal of Clinical Neurology 2001;0(05):-
Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy (1H MRS) in multiple sclerosis (MS).Methods MRI and 1H MRS were carried out in 29 patients with MS (MS group) and 26 matched normal control subjects(NC group). By calculating the area below peak, the N-acetylasparatate(NAA), creatine (Cr), choline (Cho) in brain were quantified. The NAA/Cr and Cho/Cr ratios were compared between the two groups. Every patient was measured by EDSS. The correlation analysis was done between NAA/Cr, Cho/Cr ratios and EDSS scores. Results The ratios of NAA/Cr, Cho/Cr were 1.38?0.43, 1.99?0.84 in MS group, 1.89?0.49, 1.48?0.36 in NC group. NAA/Cr decreased in MS group. The difference between two groups was statistically significant ( P0.05). Conclusions The metabolic ratios measured by 1H MRS in MS patients are changed significantly. The ratio of NAA/Cr can reflect the severity of the clinic neurological disability in MS patients.

BACKGROUND:Research on liver transplantation has not just focused on survival rate and survival time, and the quality of life has become a new field of study. However, it is stil a blank about the quality of life of liver transplant recipients in Xinjiang. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the quality of life of liver transplant recipients in Xinjiang and to explore the main risk factors for the quality of life in patients. METHODS: A Chinese version of the SF-36 health survey was used to retrospectively evaluate the quality of life of liver transplant recipients in Xinjiang. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The scores of al eight dimensions in the patients with liver transplantation ranged from 60.6±18.7 to 93.9±22.1. Primary diseases, operation method, marital status, level of education, occupation, gender and age could influence the quality of life of the liver transplant recipients, but nation, income and the way of medical insurance had no significant effect on the quality of life. These findings indicate that there is no obvious difference in the quality of life between liver transplant recipients and normal population, and the scores in six dimensions are higher in the liver transplant recipients than normal population, which is further confirmed that liver transplantation is an effective way for treatment of advanced liver disease.

Objective To explore the roles of Notch2,Notch4 in hyperoxia induced lung injury in premature rats. Methods At the postnatal 1 day Sprague-Dawley premature rats were randomly assigned to about 85% hyperoxia group and air group. At the 1,7,14,21 days after exposed,8 rats of each group were used to evaluate expressions of Notch2,Notch4 in lungs by immunohistochemistry and the level of Nothch2,Notch4 mRNA by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results Expressions of Notch2,Notch4 had their rules in rats′ different stages of development;85% oxygen exposed would change their tracks. Conclusion Prolonged 85% oxygen exposure result in abnormal expressions of Notch2 and Notch4 ,which is likely to lead to the pathogenesis of hyperoxic lung injure in premature rats.

patients received thoracic surgery. Methods Fifty patients underwent radical resection of pulmonary carcinoma were divided into DP group ( dexmedetomidine infusion by micro pumo and parecoxib 40 mg through intravenous injection) and DN group ( dexmedetomidine infusion by micro pumo and nomal saline 5mL through intravenous injection). The time for spontaneous breath, eye opening and extubation after the oper-ation were recorded. The mimi-mental state examination ( MMSE) was used to assess the cognitive function. The concentration of protein S100β and IL-6,TNF-α were determined at 1 d before operation and 1 h,24 h after the operation. Results The difference of time for spon-taneous breath, eye opening, extubation and preoperative values of MMSE between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0. 05). MMSE scores at 1 d,3 d and 5 d after operation in group DN were lower than those in group DP (P<0. 05). The values of S100β、IL-6、TNF-α at 1 h and 24 h after operation in group DN were higher than that in group DP (P< 0. 05). Conclusion Dexmedetomidine com-bined with parecoxib can decrease the incidence of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in elderly patients underwent thoracic surgery, and the mechanism of which may be related to the downregulation of serum inflammatory factors.

Objective To investigate the amount of CD4+CD_(25)~+ regulation T cells(Tr cells) and the expression of Foxp3 in peripheral blood in children with acute idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura(AITP),and analyze the relationship between CD4+CD_(25)~+ Tr cells and the immunopathogenesis of AITP.Methods CD4+CD_(25)~+ Tr cells were detected by flow cytometry in peripheral blood from AITP children and health children.Besides, related cytokine in peripheral blood were assigned by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The expression of Foxp3 were detected by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR).Results CD4+CD_(25)~+ Tr cells decreased obviously in peripheral blood in children compared with that of control group [(2.83?1.05)% vs (5.07?0.59)%,P

Objective To investigate the factors impact on the mortality of severe acute pancreati- tis(SAP)and the related treatment methods. Methods The data from 24 patients died of SAP from Jan- uary 1993 to June 2006 were retrospectively analyzed. The factor that impact motality and treatment measures were also analyzed. Results The mortality of patients with SAP was 6.65%(24/361).Multi- ple organ dysfunction sydrome(MODS)was the main cause of death in early stage of SAP.The infection was an important cause in later stage. The mortality was higher in SAP patients with other complications than those without. Conclusions MODS is the main cause of death in early stage.Close monitoring and supportive treatments in early stage can reduce mortality.Individualized treatments, including nonsurgi- cal, surgical and interventional therapy should be adopted in later stage, with emphases on reducing com- plications.

To explore novel coumarin derivatives with more potent anti-proliferative activity, a series of novel compounds were designed and synthesized by linking Schiff base and N, N-bis (2-chloroethyl) amine pharmacophore of nitrogen mustards to the coumarin's framework. Their structures were confirmed by 1H NMR, MS and element analysis techniques. In vitro anti-proliferative activities were evaluated against HepG2, DU145 and MCF7 cell lines by the standard MTT assay. The results showed that some of the target compounds exhibited strong anti-proliferative activities against selected tumor cells, and compounds 7c, 7f, 7g, 7h and 7q were better than or equal to the activities of positive control, they deserved further development.
