Objective To observe the influence of coal burning fluorosis on learning and memory ability in rats and reveal its possible mechanisms. Methods Healthy 48 SD rats were divided into control, low-fluoride and high-fluoride group. All rats in fluoride exposed groups were fed with the eom polluted by drying processes with burning coal containing high level of fluoride obtained from the endemic fluorosis area to produce the animal model of fluorosis. The experiment period were 3,6 mouths, respectively. The ability of leaning and memory was measured by Morris test and cholinesterase activity detected by photometric method at 3 or 6 month after experiment, respectively. Results Fluoride contents signifieantlly influenced the escape latency, the numbers of crossing the platforms and the time of staying the platforms(the value of F was 29.29,6.47,6.50, respectively, P<0.01).In addition, the numbers of crossing the platforms and the time of staying the platforms were influenced by the exposed time(the value of F was 16.11,45.59, P<0.01). Furthermore, the fluoride contents and the exposed time had an interaction between the numbers of crossing the platforms and the time of staying the platforms (the value of F was 4.67,5.68, P<0.05 or<0.01). Three months after the experiment, the mean values of escape latency [(14.71± 4.85)s] of rats in highly fluoride exposed group were significantly prolonged as compared with controls [(9.28±4.22)s]; 6 month after the experiment, the mean values of escape latency[(12.42±8.03)s, (17.48± 8.05)s] of rats in both groups exposed to fluoride were significantly prolonged as compared to controls [(7.04± 3.29)s, P<0.05]. The decreased numbers of crossing the platforms[(1.62±0.87)number] and the declined time of staying the platforms[(16.70±5.02)s] were found in the rats exposed to high fluoride as compared to controls [(3.53±1.67 )number, (23.33±5.35)s, P<0.05]. The fluoride contents obviously influenced the activities of acetylcholinesterase and butylcolinesterase (the value of F was 12.83,13.27, P<0.01). On the other hand, the times of breeding also influnced the activities of butylcolinesterase (the value of F was 16.26, P<0.01). In 3 months of the experiment, the activities of butylcolinesterase [(0.55±0.12)kU/g] in low fluoride exposed group were significantly decreased in comparison with controls[(0.73±0.10)kU/g, P<0.05]. The activities of acetylcholinesterase[(0.62±0.42)kU/g] and butylcolioesterase[(0.58±0.10)kU/g] in high fluoride group were significantly decreased as compared to eontrois[(1.41±0.52), (0.73±0.10)kU/g, P<0.05]. The correlation analysis showed that there was a negative correlation between the cholinesterase and the escape latency(r=-0.68, P< 0.01), and a positive correlation between the cholinesterase and the time of staying the platforms(r=0.57, P< 0.01). Conclusions The ability of learning and memory in rats with coal buring fluorosis was decreased, which might be connected to the decreased activity of cholinesterase in a dose-effect correlation.

OBJECTIVE:
To evaluate the sub-acute oral effect of titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanoparticles on the oxidation/antioxidation biomarkers and inflammatory cytokines in blood, liver, intestine, and colon in rats.
METHODS:
Twenty four 4-week-old clean-grade Sprague Dawley (SD) rats were randomly devided into 4 groups by body weight (n=6, control, low, middle, and high), in which the rats were orally exposed to TiO2 nanoparticles at doses of 0, 2, 10 and 50 mg/kg body weight/day for 28 consecutive days separately. Food intake, body weight and abnormal behaviors during the experiment were recorded. The rats were euthanized on the 29th day. The blood was collected via abdominal aortic method and centrifuged to collect the serum. Tissues from liver, intestine and colon were collected and homogenated. Then enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and microwell plate methods were used to detect oxidation/antioxidation biomarkers including superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), total mercapto (T-SH), glutathione disulfide (GSSG), malomdialdehvde (MDA) and inflammatory cytokines including interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) in the serum, liver, intestine and colon in the rats.
RESULTS:
Compared with the control group, no significant differences in body weight, food intake and organ coefficients were observed in all the three groups after TiO2 gavage. No significant changes in GSH, GSH-Px, T-SH, and IL-6 were observed. Compared with the control group, significant increase of SOD activity in serum in high dose group, signi-ficant increase of GSSG concentration in intestine in middle and high dose group and significant increase of MDA concentration in liver in low and high dose group were observed. Compared with the control group, a significant increase of TNF-α in liver in middle and high dose group was observed.
CONCLUSION
TiO2 nanoparticle can increase antioxidant enzymes activities in blood, increase oxidative biomarkers in liver and intestine, increase inflammatory cytokines in liver in rats after a 28-day sub-acute orally administration. Among blood, liver, intestine, and colon, liver is most sensitive to the toxicity induced by TiO2 nanoparticles, followed by intestine, blood, and colon in sequence.

In recent years, the number of patients with vaginal relaxation has increased year by year, and the minimally invasive vaginal contraction has been carried out more and more widely in clinical practice, but the treatment normalization and safety have not been thoroughly studied. We summarized six cases of characteristics and treatment measures for patients with various complications after minimally invasive vaginal contraction surgery from September 2021 to December 2023 at Department of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery, Peking Union Medical College Hospital. The patients' age ranged from 26 to 44 years. Two cases accepted vaginal contraction with embedded vaginal thread, and four accepted vaginal contraction with acellular allogenic dermis. One patient showed vaginal hyper-tightness, one patient showed subcutaneous suture nodules, two patients showed explosion of acellular allogenic dermis, and three patients showed vaginal infection symptoms such as yellow leucorrhea and peculiar smell. All patients had sexual pain and discomfort. One patient underwent vaginal orifice dilation, one patient underwent suture extraction and secondary vaginal contraction, one patient underwent acellular allogenic dermis extraction and immediate vaginal contraction, two patients underwent acellular allogenic dermis extraction and secondary vaginal contraction, and one patient underwent secondary vaginal contraction. The symptoms of all six patients were relieved after treatment. Despite the short operation time and fast postoperative recovery of minimally invasive vaginal contraction, there are still complications after surgery, causing physical and mental damage to patients. Plastic surgeons, therefore, should be cautious in the treatment process to avoid collateral damage, so that patients get the best treatment effect.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate clinical outcomes of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction under arthroscopy combined with limited open repair of medial collateral ligament (MCL) for the treatment of multiple ligament injuries of knee joints.
METHODSFrom March 2006 and June 2012,the data of 14 patients (14 knees) with multiple injuries of ACL, PCL, and MCL were collected. There were 8 males and 6 females with an average age of (31.8 +/- 8.1) years old (ranged, 20 to 49 years old). All the patients were performed with X-ray and MRI examination, and the results showed that 10 patients had combined with injuries of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL); 4 patients had ALC,PCL and posterolateral corner (PLC) injuries. Four patients had medial meniscus injuries and 2 patients had lateral meniscus injuries. The MCL,PLC and meniscus injuries were treated with operation on the first stage, and functional exercises were performed 3 weeks after fixation. The reconstruction operation of ACL and (or) PCL was performed at the second stage under arthroscopy 3 to 6 months later when the movement range of knee joint recovered to the normal level with obvious relaxation.
RESULTSAll incisions healed by primary intention. All the patients were followed up with a mean duration of 48.9 months (ranged, 24 to 80 months). The Lysholm score was improved from preoperative 19.6 +/- 0.9 to the latest follow-up 87.1 +/- 2.8 (t=12.3, P<0.01). The International Knee Documentation Committee (IKDC) rating: 9 cases nearly recovered to normal, 5 cases were abnormal.
CONCLUSIONFor multiple ligament injuries in the knee, staged repair and reconstruction can effectively restore knee joint stability and function.

Chinese Journal of Cancer 2017;36(11):618-625
Background: Recent studies indicate that C-X-C motif chemokine receptor 4 (CXCR4) and its ligand, C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 12 (CXCL12), stimulate expression of the cell cycle regulatory protein Cyclin D1 in neurofibroma-tosis 1-associated malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) cells and promote their proliferation. In this study, we measured the expression of CXCR4, CXCL12, and Cyclin D1 proteins in sporadic MPNST tissues from Chinese patients and investigated their prognostic values. Methods: CXCR4, CXCL12, and Cyclin D1 protein expression in samples from 58 Chinese patients with sporadic MPNST was assessed with immunohistochemical staining. Their prognostic values were evaluated with Kaplan–Meier analysis and a log-rank test. Multivariate Cox regression analysis was used to identify independent prognostic factors. Results: High expression of CXCR4, CXCL12, and Cyclin D1 was observed in 19 (32.8%), 32 (55.2%), and 16 (27.6%) samples, respectively. CXCR4 expression was positively correlated with CXCL12 expression (r= 0.334,P= 0.010) and Cyclin D1 expression (r= 0.309,P= 0.018). Patients with high CXCR4 expression showed longer overall survival than those with low CXCR4 expression (χ2= 4.642,P= 0.031). Conclusion: High CXCR4 expression may define a specific subtype of sporadic MPNST with favorable prognosis.

BACKGROUND:In recent years, vacuum sealing drainage technology has been widely used in the treatment of orthopedic wounds or to facilitate skin graft survival, both of which have achieved good results.
OBJECTIVE:To observe the curative effects of vacuum sealing drainage technology in the wound healing after limb open fractures, soft tissue defects, pressure sores, and chronic osteomyelitis.
METHODS:Fifty-four patients of fractures combined with soft tissue defects, postoperative exposed bone, osteomyelitis, a large area of pressure ulcers or severe infections, selected from the 273rd Hospital of PLA, were randomly divided into test and control groups according to the wishes of patients. The test group included 36 patients who were treated with vacuum sealing drainage using polyethylene ethanol hydration seaweed salt after debridement, and the control group included 18 patients who were treated with conventional dressing. Wound cleaning time, number of dressings, and wound healing time were detected and compared in the two groups.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Compared with the control group, the wound cleaning time and wound healing time were shorter in the test group, and the number of dressings was also decreased in the test group (P<0.05). After removal of sponge dressings, in the test group, wound granulation was fresh and grew obviously with no exudates after the necrotic residue was removed and vacuum sealing drainage was changed. For the bone exposure patients, the wound area was reduced, or even there was no exposed bone any more. After skin grafting, vacuum suction and pressure due to vacuum sealing drainage technology made al skin grafts survive. In the patients with chronic osteomyelitis, the exudates were gradual y reduced until disappeared after vacuum sealing drainage was exchanged three or four times, and pathogens were not found in bacterial culture. After combined treatment of debridement and vacuum sealing drainage, there were many fresh granulations in the patients with large areas of pressure sores;after replacement of vacuum sealing drainage several times, the granulation grew to the same height with the surrounding skin.

Objective To investigate the structure-activity relationship for 21 anthocyanins in inhibiting oxidized injury of endothelial cells, and explore the structural characteristics of anthocyanins closely related to their effects. Methods Endothelial cells were treated by ox-LDL at different concentrations of 50,100,150 or 200 ?g/ml,and MTT assay was used to determine IC50. After pre-incubated for 2 h with different concentrations ( 50,100 or 200 ?mol/L) of anthocyanins and then treated with 100 ?g/ml ox-LDL for another 24 h in endothelial cells,MTT assay was used to detect the cellular viability. After pre-treated for 2 h with different anthocyanins with 100 ?mol/L and treated with ox-LDL for another 24 h,MDA and NO level in the culture media were both measured according to the methods of assay kits. Structure-activity relationship was analyzed according to the respective cellular viability,MDA and NO level. Results Cellular viability was significantly inhibited by ox-LDL in a dose-dependent manner, and the IC50 was 100 ?g/ml. A significant correlation was observed among the effect of anthocyanins on cell viability,MDA production and NO release. The inhibitory effects of anthocyanins in ox-LDL-injured endothelial cells were positively related to the total number of hydroxyl groups and hydroxyl substitutions in B ring. 3′,4′-ortho-dihydroxyl substitution on B-ring and a 3-hydroxyl group on C-ring significantly enhanced the inhibitory effect of anthocyanins, yet methoxylation or glycosylation significantly decreased the effect. 6-hydroxylation substitution might attenuate the inhibitory effect of anthocyanins, while substitution at C5 or C5′ showed no significant influence on the effect of anthocyanins. Anthocyanin with monosaccharose substitution was much stronger than that with disaccharose substitution, while there was no significant difference between anthocyanins with glucoside and that with galacotoside substitution. Delphinidin and delphinidin-3-glucoside were respectively the most effectual anthocyanidin or anthocyanin. Conclusion 3′,4′-ortho-dihydroxyl substitution on B-ring and a 3-hydroxyl group on C-ring are the main structural requirements for anthocyanins in suppressing ox-LDL-induced injury in endothelial cells.
