AIM: To investigate the change of corrected vision and stereo vision in anisometropic patients after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).METHODS: The clinical data of 84 cases of anisometropic children(84 eyes) were retrospective analyzed.The changes of corrected visual acuity and stereopsis of different gender,age,type of amblyopia in children anisometropic before treatment,after treatment for 3,6mo and 1a were analyzed.The stereoscopic vision correction correlation were analyzed.RESULTS: Corrected Log MAR visual acuity and stereopsis of 84 patients after LASIK surgery treatment for 3mo,and 1a later significantly decreased than before treatment (P<0.05).The corrected Log MAR visual acuity and stereopsis of male and female after treatment for 3,6mo and 1a was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Corrected visual acuity of age <30 group for 3,6mo and 1a was significantly lower than the age ≥30 group (P<0.05).After 3,6mo and 1a stereo vision with hyperopic anisometropia amblyopia decreased more than that with myopic anisometropia amblyopia(P<0.05),but corrected Log MAR visual acuity after treatment was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).Improved correctted vision of anisometropic patients after LASIK surgery had no connection with the decrease of stereo vision(P>0.05).CONCLUSION: LASIK surgery can improve visual acuity in patients with anisometropia amblyopia,but the course of treatment of visual acuity and stereopsis affected by age and type of amblyopia.

OBJECTIVETo study the method of extraction of active ingredient from complex Chinese patent medicine.

METHODSupercritical fluid extraction (SFE) has been used to extract paeonol from Liuwei Dihuang pill and HPLC was used to analyze the extracts.

RESULTThe methanol modified supercritical CO2 (0.4 mL x min(-1)) can effectively extract paeonol from Liuwei Dihuang pill.

CONCLUSIONSFE-HPLC method of off-line for analysis of extract was simple, quick and accurate.

To optimize the immunization strategy against HIV-1, a DNA vaccine was combined with a recombinant vaccinia virus (rTV) vaccine and a protein vaccine. Immune responses against HIV-1 were detected in 30 female guinea pigs divided into six groups. Three groups of guinea pigs were primed with HIV-1 DNA vaccine three times, boosted with rTV at week 14, and then boosted with gp140 protein at intervals of 4, 8 or 12 weeks. Simultaneously, the other three groups of animals were primed with rTV vaccine once, and then boosted with gp140 after 4, 8 or 12 weeks. The HIV-1 specific binding antibody and neutralizing antibody, in addition to the relative affinity of these antibodies, were detected at different time points after the final administration of vaccine in each group. The DNA-rTV-gp140 immune regimen induced higher titers and affinity levels of HIV-1 gp120/gp140 antibodies and stronger V1V2-gp70 antibodies than the rTV-gp140 regimen. In the guinea pigs that underwent the DNA-rTV-gp140 regimen, the highest V1V2-gp70 antibody was induced in the 12-week-interval group. However, the avidity of antibodies was improved in the 4-week-interval group. Using the rTV-gp140 immunization strategy, guinea pigs boosted at 8 or 12 weeks after rTV priming elicited stronger humoral responses than those boosted at 4 weeks after priming. In conclusion, this study shows that the immunization strategy of HIV-1 DNA vaccine priming, followed by rTV and protein vaccine boosting, could strengthen the humoral response against HIV-1. Longer intervals were better to induce V1V2-gp70-specific antibodies, while shorter intervals were more beneficial to enhance the avidity of antibodies.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between microalbuminuria and arterial compliance in hypertensive and diabetes patients.

METHODSA total of 200 patients with essential hypertension and/or diabetes were studied. Albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) was determined. Carotid to femoral Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), C(1) and C(2) were measured by a Complier Colson device and DO-2020, respectively.

RESULT(1) C(1) and C(2) were lower and PWV higher in high ACR group than in normal ACR group (P < 0.01). (2) In patients younger than 60 years, C(1) was lower and PWV higher in high ACR group than that in normal ACR group (P < 0.01). In patients older than 60 years, C(1), C(2) were lower in high ACR group than in normal ACR group.

CONCLUSIONThe results indicated that compliance of large and small vessels in hypertensive and diabetic patients decreased with increasing ACR.

Objective:To observe the therapeutic effect of electroacupuncture (EA) at Zusanli (ST 36),Guanyuan (CV 4) and Ashi points on adjuvant arthritis rats,and explore the mechanism of EA treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA).Methods:Sixty male rats were randomly divided into a normal group,a model group,a methotrexate group and an EA group,with 15 rats in each group.Rats in the normal group and the model group were routinely raised and did not receive treatment;rats in the methotrexate group received methotrexate at a dose of 0.35 mg/(kg·bw),twice a week for 3 weeks;rats in the EA group received acupuncture at Zusanli (ST 36),Guanyuan (CV 4) and Ashi points,and the bilateral Zusanli (ST 36) and Ashi points were connected to EA apparatus,once a day for 3 weeks.The general status,the swelling degree of the toe,the arthritis index (AI) score,the pathological morphology of the ankle joint,and the mRNA expressions of cellular inhibitor of apoptosis protein (c-IAP) 1 and c-IAP2 in joint synovial tissue cells of the rats in each group were observed.Results:The swelling degree of the toe,AI score and mRNA expressions of c-IAP1 and c-IAP2 in the model group were significantly higher than those in the normal group (all P＜0.05).Compared with the model group,the swelling degree of the toe,AI score and mRNA expressions of c-IAP1 and c-IAP2 in the methotrexate group and the EA group improved (P＜0.01 or P＜0.05);the expressions of c-IAP1 mRNA and c-IAP2 mRNA in rat synovial tissues in the EA group were significantly higher than those in the methotrexate group (P＜0.01).Conclusion:EA alleviates joint swelling in rats with adjuvant arthritis.The mechanism may be related to suppressing mRNA expressions of c-IAP1 and c-IAP2,thus to induce apoptosis of synoviocytes.

Objective To investigate the characteristics of the event related potential(ERP) P300 and analyze brain network connections in patients with first-episode depressions.Methods P300 auditory oddball task were administrated on twenty-nine patients and twenty-five healthy controls.The P300 amplitude and latency of two groups were compared,and the brain network connectivity of the two groups were analyzed using Granger's Causality analysis.Results The P300 amplitude in depression group were significantly different from those in control group (C3 of the central regions(15.77±7.35) μV vs (20.90±7.82)μV;C4 of the central regions(16.98±7.21) μV vs (22.11±7.50) μV;P3 of the parietal regions(15.65±6.92) μV vs (19.49±5.73) μV;P4 of the parietal(16.35± 6.46) μV vs P4(19.72±5.18) μV;P=0.009,P=0.007,P=0.017,P=0.024 respectively).However,the P300 latency had no significant difference comparing to the controls(P＞0.05).The results also showed that patients had more connections in the brain network.Conclusion As an effective evaluation index,ERP P300 can play an important role in clinical diagnosis of depression.Patients suffering from depression have significant cognition function deficit.
