OBJECTIVETo study the method of extraction of active ingredient from complex Chinese patent medicine.

METHODSupercritical fluid extraction (SFE) has been used to extract paeonol from Liuwei Dihuang pill and HPLC was used to analyze the extracts.

RESULTThe methanol modified supercritical CO2 (0.4 mL x min(-1)) can effectively extract paeonol from Liuwei Dihuang pill.

CONCLUSIONSFE-HPLC method of off-line for analysis of extract was simple, quick and accurate.

AIM: To investigate the change of corrected vision and stereo vision in anisometropic patients after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK).METHODS: The clinical data of 84 cases of anisometropic children(84 eyes) were retrospective analyzed.The changes of corrected visual acuity and stereopsis of different gender,age,type of amblyopia in children anisometropic before treatment,after treatment for 3,6mo and 1a were analyzed.The stereoscopic vision correction correlation were analyzed.RESULTS: Corrected Log MAR visual acuity and stereopsis of 84 patients after LASIK surgery treatment for 3mo,and 1a later significantly decreased than before treatment (P<0.05).The corrected Log MAR visual acuity and stereopsis of male and female after treatment for 3,6mo and 1a was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Corrected visual acuity of age <30 group for 3,6mo and 1a was significantly lower than the age ≥30 group (P<0.05).After 3,6mo and 1a stereo vision with hyperopic anisometropia amblyopia decreased more than that with myopic anisometropia amblyopia(P<0.05),but corrected Log MAR visual acuity after treatment was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).Improved correctted vision of anisometropic patients after LASIK surgery had no connection with the decrease of stereo vision(P>0.05).CONCLUSION: LASIK surgery can improve visual acuity in patients with anisometropia amblyopia,but the course of treatment of visual acuity and stereopsis affected by age and type of amblyopia.

To optimize the immunization strategy against HIV-1, a DNA vaccine was combined with a recombinant vaccinia virus (rTV) vaccine and a protein vaccine. Immune responses against HIV-1 were detected in 30 female guinea pigs divided into six groups. Three groups of guinea pigs were primed with HIV-1 DNA vaccine three times, boosted with rTV at week 14, and then boosted with gp140 protein at intervals of 4, 8 or 12 weeks. Simultaneously, the other three groups of animals were primed with rTV vaccine once, and then boosted with gp140 after 4, 8 or 12 weeks. The HIV-1 specific binding antibody and neutralizing antibody, in addition to the relative affinity of these antibodies, were detected at different time points after the final administration of vaccine in each group. The DNA-rTV-gp140 immune regimen induced higher titers and affinity levels of HIV-1 gp120/gp140 antibodies and stronger V1V2-gp70 antibodies than the rTV-gp140 regimen. In the guinea pigs that underwent the DNA-rTV-gp140 regimen, the highest V1V2-gp70 antibody was induced in the 12-week-interval group. However, the avidity of antibodies was improved in the 4-week-interval group. Using the rTV-gp140 immunization strategy, guinea pigs boosted at 8 or 12 weeks after rTV priming elicited stronger humoral responses than those boosted at 4 weeks after priming. In conclusion, this study shows that the immunization strategy of HIV-1 DNA vaccine priming, followed by rTV and protein vaccine boosting, could strengthen the humoral response against HIV-1. Longer intervals were better to induce V1V2-gp70-specific antibodies, while shorter intervals were more beneficial to enhance the avidity of antibodies.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the relationship between microalbuminuria and arterial compliance in hypertensive and diabetes patients.

METHODSA total of 200 patients with essential hypertension and/or diabetes were studied. Albumin/creatinine ratio (ACR) was determined. Carotid to femoral Pulse Wave Velocity (PWV), C(1) and C(2) were measured by a Complier Colson device and DO-2020, respectively.

RESULT(1) C(1) and C(2) were lower and PWV higher in high ACR group than in normal ACR group (P < 0.01). (2) In patients younger than 60 years, C(1) was lower and PWV higher in high ACR group than that in normal ACR group (P < 0.01). In patients older than 60 years, C(1), C(2) were lower in high ACR group than in normal ACR group.

CONCLUSIONThe results indicated that compliance of large and small vessels in hypertensive and diabetic patients decreased with increasing ACR.

Aiming at the characteristics of telemedicine service,we summarized our telemedical consultation work during 2006-2008.We believed that telemedical consultation from big hospitals are very important in maintaining physical and moral health conditions and treating severe sickness of grassroots officers and soldiers,it can also play active roles in the construction of basic army unit hospitals.

Objective To investigate the clinical value of axillary ultrasound (AUS)in the identification of axillary nodal metastasis (ALNM).Methods Two hundred and eighty-two consecutive patients with stage Tis-T2 breast cancer were prospectively enrolled between December 2013 and September 2015.All the patients underwent AUS performed by two specified senior ultrasound doctors.Sonographic features of their axillary lymph nodes (longitudinal and transverse diameters,cortical and hilar thickness,blood flow form)were collected.These patients were divided into metastatic, suspicious and non-metastatic groups based on the ultrasound features by ultrasound doctors.The diagnostic accuracy of AUS was compared with results of pathology.Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analyses were used to evaluate the relationship between sonographic features and ALNM.The area under the ROC curve was used to assess the accuracy of the multivariate Logistic regression model.Results The sensitivity,specificity,positive and negative predictive value and accuracy of AUS were respectively 85.6%,87.1%,86.4%,86.3%,and 86.3% in the metastatic and non-metastatic groups.The Kappa value was 0.727(P <0.001).The ALNM burden in the non-metastatic group was significantly lower than in the metastatic group (1.2 vs 6.9,P <0.001).The false-negative results were found only in 16 cases,fourteen of whom had only 1,and two had 2 and 3 ALNM,respectively.Univariate Logistic regression analysis showed that maximum cortical thickness was the most significant predictive factor of ALNM(the area under the ROC curve was 0.872).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis suggested that cortical thickness and the ratio of hilar thickness to cortical thickness were predictive factors of ALNM(P <0.05).The area under the ROC curve of the multivariate Logistic regression model was 0.879 and its sensitivity and specificity were 77.0% and 85.1%,respectively.Conclusion AUS is a valuable tool for detecting ALNM.Patients with false-negative results of AUS have a lower axillary metastatic burden.Maximum cortical thickness is the most significant predictive factor of ALNM.AUS may be a potential alternative method for sentinel lymph node biopsy as axillary lymph node staging in early-stage breast cancer patients.

Objective: To investigate the effect and safety of interleukin-2 combined with cisplatin in the treatment of malignant pleural effusion.Methods: Totally 86 patients with malignant pleural effusion were randomly divided into the observation group (44 cases) and the control group (42 cases).The control group was treated with cisplatin, and the observation group was treated with interleukin-2 additionally.The treatment course was 3 weeks.The ascites relief, quality of life, survival status and tumor markers before and after the treatment, and the adverse drug reactions were compared between the groups.Results: The total ascites remission rate and the effective rate in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05).Compared with those before the treatment, CEA, CA19-9 and CA450 decreased significantly after the treatment in both groups (P<0.05), those in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05).After the treatment, the physiological function, physiological occupation, emotional function, body pain and the other life quality scores in the observation group were significantly higher than those in the control group (P<0.05).The 24-month survival rate in the observation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P<0.05).There were no significant differences in adverse drug reactions between the groups (P>0.05).Conclusion: Interleukin-2 combined with cisplatin can effectively relieve ascites and improve quality of life, which can also prolong the survival time of patients.
