Yeungnam University Journal of Medicine 1994;11(1):135-145
To evaluate the relationship between eating behavior and neurotic trait in middle school students, the authors applied eating scale, Middlesex Hospital Puestionaire and Zung's self-reting depression scale to 419 middle school students(male : 187, female : 232) in Taegu city in 1993. There was no significant relationship between weight devided groups. Female middle school students showed significant high scores(p<0.05) in all scales compared to male middle school students. The correlation between eating scale and the other two scales showed significant correlationship(p<0.05) Among psychosocial factors, the items related to dissatisfaction to present and future self image(each p<0.05, p<0.05), dissatisfaction to present environmental status(p<0.05) and dissatisfaction to future attitude showed significant high score in both sex. The item related to dissatisfaction to present interpersonal relationship (p<0.05) showed significant high score in male middle school students. The items related to eat consumption rate of 61-90% (p<0.05), unsatisfied to relationship with family(p<0.05), unsatisfied to childhood family atmosphere(p<0.05), unsatisfied to past self image(p<0.05) and unsatisfied to present relationship between parent(p<0.05) showed significant high score.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1988;26(6):861-866
One hundred patients of osmidrosis were treated by surgical procedure at the Department of Dermatology, Wonkwang University Hospital. The methods of operative treatment were elliptical excision for 37(74), bipedicle incision with apocrine glancl undercutting for 14(28), and single incision wit.h apocrine gland undercutt, ing for 49 (98). The results were summarized as follows : 1. Of the 74 axillae treated by elliptical excision, one occurred recurrence, and 1.7 showed complication, hematoma in 6, infection and delayed union in 4, each necrosis and severe scar in one each, 2. Of the 28 axillae treated by bipedicle incision with apocrine gland undercutting, 6 showed complication; hematoma in 4, infection and delayed union in one each 3. Of t..he 98 axillae treated by single incision with apocrine gland undercutting, 5 showed complication, hematoma in 3, infection and delayed union in one each In conclusion, single incision with apocrine gland undercutting was found to be more excellent compared with the other surgical methods.

Journal of the Korean Radiological Society 1992;28(2):307-313
To investigate MR artifacts induced by metallic implants, scans were obtained using both the ferromagnetic Drake lip and the non ferromagnetic Yasargil clip. Scan were taken through the area of clips using geometrical phantom. The MRI was performed by spin echo technique and gradient echo technique on both 2.0T and 0.5T MR unit. The luthors evaluated the nature and differences of artifacts in each sequence and parameter. Artifacts induced by both lips were noted in the direction of frequency encoding gradient, and consisted of region of signal loss abutted in one side by survilinear region of bright signal. Geometric distortion of image was marked in the Drake clip, out was minimal in the Yasargil clip under both 2.0T and 0.5T. Artifacts were more pronounced in the gradient echo technique than those of the spin echo technique on both 2.0T and 0.5T. Although there were no differences n the nature of artifacts induced by the Drake clip among each parameter in the spin echo technique under 2.0T, artifacts were slightly more pronounced on T2 weighted image under the 0.5T field, but no differences were found in the nature of artifacts induced by the Yasargil clip in the spin echo technique under, both the 2.0T and 0.5T fields. Marked artifacts were induced through the small area of the Drake clip which were included in the scan plane, but induced artifacts were small when a small area of the Yasargil clip was included in the scan plane. It seemed likely hat artifacts were slightly more pronounced in the 2.0T than the 0.5T field in both clips, but objective evaluation of the difference was difficult, In conclusion, these results can be an essential basis for the interpretation of MR images or patents with metallic inplants.

BACKGROUND: This retrospective comparative study aims to evaluate the surgical outcomes and complications of two surgical methods for simple fractures of the humeral shaft; minimally invasive anterior plating and open reduction combined with internal fixation. METHODS: A total of 26 patients with humeral shaft simple fractures, who had surgery between June 2009 and September 2013 and were followed-up at least 12 months, were included in our analysis. They were divided into two groups; group 1 comprised of 12 patients who underwent minimally invasive anterior plating and group 2 comprised of 14 patients who underwent an open reduction and internal fixation. The clinical outcomes, radiological results, and complications were compared and analyzed. RESULTS: We found that bone union was achieved in all patients, and the mean union periods were 20.7 +/- 3.34 and 20.3 +/- 3.91 weeks for groups 1 and 2, respectively. In most patients, we found that shoulder and elbow functions were recovered. At 12 months post-operation, we found that the Korean Shoulder Scoring system, the University of California at Los Angeles score and Mayo elbow performance score were 91.4 +/- 7.97, 33.4 +/- 1.15, and 90.8 +/- 2.23 for group 1, and 95.2 +/- 1.53, 33.3 +/- 1.43, and 90.17 +/- 1.85 for group 2. In terms of complications, we found that 2 patients had radial nerve palsy after open reduction and internal fixation, but all cases spontaneously resolved within 6 months. Complications such as infection and loss of fixation were not reported. CONCLUSIONS: Both minimally invasive anterior plating and open reduction with internal fixation produced satisfactory outcomes in the treatment of simple fractures of the humeral shaft.
