Tinea barbae is one of the relatively rare chronic dermatophytosis of adult male, developing on the beard and moustache area of the face. We observed in a 50-year-old male patient who showed atypical clinical findings of tinea barbae. Initially, we impressed sycosis vulgaris, due to diffuse multiple pustular nodules with swelling on the beard area and both cheek of the face. We had treated him by antibiotics anri no improvement was noticed. On the 20th day from first visit, Trichophyton mentagrophytes was identified, and histopathologic exam revealed many spores and hyphae on the hair follicle. His skin lesions were almostly cleared after injestion of 5 months period of griseofulvin.

Real-time ultrasonogram was performed in 31 Pt. with CHPS, who was admitted at the pediatric department of Wonkwang University hospital from January 1991 to June 1993. Those who had positive results of pyloric volume for diagnosis of CHPS and were confirmed by surgery. The results were at follows: 1) The average ultrasonographic measurements of pyloric muscle thickness, pyloric diameter, pyloric length were 4.9+/-1.09mm, 14.42+/-2.69mm, 19.17+/-2.37mm, and pyloric volume was 3.26+/-1.39ml. 2) The diagnostic reliabilities with the ultrasonographic measurements of muscle thickness (>4mm), pyloric diameter (>12mm) and pyloric length (>15mm) by Stunden's criteria in 31 cases were compared, which were not significant difference among them. 3) In ultrasonographic measurements of 31 cases for diagnosis of CHPS, positive results with 3 parameters were 80.6% and with 2 parameters and double tract signs were 87.1%. So. we conclude pyloric volume greater than 1.4ml was the most reliable parameter, which was satisfied 100% with diagnosis of CHPS.

We experienced four cases of sporotrichosis including three lymphocutaneous type and one fixed cutaueous type. Case 1 was a 6-year old child, affected over the right chin. Case 2 was a 31-year old housewife, affected over the right forearm, Case 3 was a 53-year old housewife, affected over the right forearm and dorsum of right hand. Case 4 was a 19-year old student, affected over the left forearm. Histopathologically, chronic granulomatous inflammation with the neutrophilic ivfiltration and/or central suppuration were observed. Mycologically, typical colonies with moist, wrinkled and rnembraneous surface were cultured except in case 3. All patients were completly cured by oral administration of low dosage of potassium iodide(63. R-lllg) in a short period (50~86 days).

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1991;29(1):120-125
A 52-year-old woman with esential mixed cryoglobulinemia (type II ), which was confirmed by cryoglobulin elcct, rophoresis and immunofixation elect, rophoresis, had purpuric skin lesions on the legs. The lesions had a tendency of recurrence for the past 2 years, and moderate degrees of arthralgia and myalgia were accompanied in each time. However, the patient had not been suffered from any internal organ distress caused by the disease proress. Histological examinations of a skin lesions revealed a feature of leukocytoclatic vasculitis, and deposits of IgM, IgG and C; were also recognized. A regimen of small doses of prednisolone was effective for the cutaneous lesions in this patient for 4 months follow-up until this writing. It, seems that the patient has had a mild form of the disease among the clinical spectrum of mixed cryoglobulinemia, with a cryocrit value of 2.4% at the time of her initial visit..

10.A Case of Multiple Pilomatricoma.
Sun Wha LEE ; Byung Kwan RO ; Byung In RO ; Chin Yo CHANG
Korean Journal of Dermatology 1983;21(2):231-235
The pilomatricoma (Calcifying Epithelioma of Malherbe) is rare benign tumor of adnexal keratinocytes. It is occuring usually as a single, asymptomatic, 0. 5 cm to 3. 0 cm sized, deep seated, firm nodule, covered by normal or pink skin. Multiple pilomatricoma is relatively rare, as 3. 5% of reported cases of pilomatricoma. A 21-year-old male patient had 7 subcutaneous nodules on the neck, both upper extremities and trunk for 9 years. We excised one of them, under the impression of calcinosis cutis, cysticercosis cutis or benign skin tumor. But histopathologic findings of the lesion showed the typical pattern of pilomatricoma with shadow cells, calcification and foreign body giant cells. Five of remainders were excised and they showed same histopathological findings of pilomatricoma. The authors presented herein one case of multiple pilomatricoma with the review of literature.
