To evaluate the relationship between eating behavior and neurotic trait in middle school students, the authors applied eating scale, Middlesex Hospital Puestionaire and Zung's self-reting depression scale to 419 middle school students(male : 187, female : 232) in Taegu city in 1993. There was no significant relationship between weight devided groups. Female middle school students showed significant high scores(p<0.05) in all scales compared to male middle school students. The correlation between eating scale and the other two scales showed significant correlationship(p<0.05) Among psychosocial factors, the items related to dissatisfaction to present and future self image(each p<0.05, p<0.05), dissatisfaction to present environmental status(p<0.05) and dissatisfaction to future attitude showed significant high score in both sex. The item related to dissatisfaction to present interpersonal relationship (p<0.05) showed significant high score in male middle school students. The items related to eat consumption rate of 61-90% (p<0.05), unsatisfied to relationship with family(p<0.05), unsatisfied to childhood family atmosphere(p<0.05), unsatisfied to past self image(p<0.05) and unsatisfied to present relationship between parent(p<0.05) showed significant high score.

Patellofemoral complications are the most frequent problems in total knee arthroplasty. In the literature, the subject of patella resurfacing and nonresurfacing is controversial. Twenty-seven osteoarthritic patients who received bilateral total knee prostheses were studied to evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of patella resurfacing prospectively. Only patients with mild patellofemoral disease were included in the study. The Ortholoc modular implant was used in all cases. Cementless femoral and tibial component were used. But, if we resurfaced the patella, cement was used. In all patients, patella resurfacing had been done in the left knee but not in the right knee. For the clinical analysis, We used Knee Rating Score of the Hospital for Special Surgery(HSS), For the roentgenographic analysis, We used Laurin's lateral patellofemoral angle & Merchant's congruence angle. In the follow up, blind test for patellar pain was performed to compare between right and left knee joint clinically. The average age was 61 years(range 28-72 years) and the average follow up was 21 months(range 12-27 months). Preoperative ROM was 104.4 degrees in right side and 106.7 degrees in left side. Postoperative ROM was 112.7 degrees in right side and 109.6 degrees in left side. Preoperative HSS Knee Rating Score was 53.1 point in right side and 54.8 point in left side. Postoperative HSS Knee Rating Score was 81.5 point in right side and 81.2 point in left side. In the plain knee AP view, preoperative tibiofemoral angle was varus 7.0 degrees in right side and varus 5.6 degrees in left side. Postoperative tibiofemoral angle was valgus 5.1 degrees in right side and valgus 4.9 degrees in left side. Preoperative Merchant's congruence angle was 14.9 degrees in right side and 15.3 degrees in left side. Postoperative Merchant's congruence angle was

Journal of the Korean Society of Coloproctology 1997;13(3):535-540
Familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP) is an inherited autosomal dominant disorder characterized by the appearance in early life of numerous adenomas of colon and rectum. According to the recent studies, familial polypolis is a disease which produces polypoid lesions not only in the large intestine but also in the stomach duodenum, ileum and jejunum. The natural course of extracolonic lesions is variable, but the colonic polyps are associated with high incidence of cancer. The risk of malignant change is virtually 100% if untreated. The authors report a case of FAP in a 36-year-old-female who presented colorectal polyposis with multiple adenomas of the gallbladder. A review of literature with emphasis on the association of adenoma of the gallbladder was made.

Korean Journal of Urology 1998;39(7):615-621
PURPOSE: It has been suggested in our previous study that the serum level of xanthine oxidise(XO) activity, glutathione(GSH), malonyldialdehyde(MDA) could be used as marker of oxidant stress in association with renal ischemia/reperfusion(I/R) injury. The present study was undertaken to establish the early marker of renal 1/R injury and to investigate the effect of deferoxamine on renal 1/R injury. MATERIALS AND METHOD: In Sprague-Dawley rats(male, 200-250gm, n=60), bilateral renal arteries were clamped for 60mins after pretreatment with deferoxamine(group A) or saline(group B). After 30min of bilateral renal recirculation, left nephrectomy and blood sampling in inferior vena cava were performed for in-vitro spectrophotometric study. Control animals(group C) did not undergo I/R operation. In-vivo renal function studies were performed in both group A and B with measurement of creatinine clearance rate(Ccr) at 7th day of experiments a%or renal ischmia for 60min. RESULTS: The levels of XO activity and XO type conversion ratio in renal tissue (RT) and serum(5) were measured. These levels were significantly high in group B, but were lower in group A compared to those of control group. The values of GSH(micrometer/g tissue), a scavenger of OFR, were decreased in group A (RT:0.183+/-0.019,5:0.201+/-0.029) and greatly decreased in group B(RT:0.159+/-0.009,5:0.164+/-0.022) compared to control group(RT:0.201+/-0.006,5:0.224+/-0.031). The values of MDA(nM/g tissue), a stable end product of lipid peroxidation, were increased in group A(RT:0.149+/-0.003, 5:0.058+/-0.004) compared to control group(RT:0.128+/-0.013, 5;0.055+/-0.005), but the values were significantly lower in group A compared to group B(RT:0.171+/-0.005, 5:0.070+/-0.003). Subsequent investigation was focused on the established renal function study after 1/R, which was determined using Ccr(ml/min). The Ccr in group A(2.06+/-0.03) was significantly higher compared to that of group 8(1.48+/-0.18), although it was slightly lower than in control group(2.18+/-0.05). CONCLUSIONS: From these results, it is suggested that renal I/R injury is highly correlated with the production of OFR. The levels of GSH and MDA in renal tissue and serum seem to be probable markers of oxidant stress in association with renal I/R injury. Furthermore, deferoxamine could reduce the degree of renal damage resulting from ameliorating the production of OFR following renal I/R injury.

6.Validation Study of the Mental Health Recovery Measure.
Journal of Korean Neuropsychiatric Association 2010;49(6):593-603
OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted to verify the reliability and validity of the Mental Health Recovery Measure (MHRM), which was designed to provide a comprehensive assessment of the recovery process. METHODS: A sample of 253 psychiatric patients were assessed using a package of measures, which comprised the MHRM, the Quality of Life Scale, the Empowerment Scale, the Ego-Resilience Scale, the Clinical Global Impression Scale and the General Assessment of Functioning. The reliability of the MHRM was evaluated in terms of its internal consistency and item-total correlations, and its validity was explored by factor analysis. A multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the discriminant validity of the recovery factors. RESULTS: The MHRM was found to be highly reliable in terms of internal consistency, and corrected item-total correlations r ranged from 0.49 to 0.75. The exploratory factor analysis revealed six factors, and the regression analysis indicated that the factors are measuring distinct features. In addition, various estimates of validity of MHRM were established with the criterion measures in conceptually expected ways. CONCLUSION: These results offer the reliability and validity of the MHRM. The implications and limitations of this study were discussed, and future directions of study were suggested.

7.Histochemical and ultrastructural changes of cyclosporin A and prednisolone on proximal tubules and glomeruli in rabbit kidney.
Korean Journal of Urology 1991;32(4):519-529
This experiment was designed to investigate the histochemical and ultrastructural changes of the proximal tubules and glomeruli of rabbits treated with cyclosporin A (CsA) or cyclosporin A and concomitant administration of prednisolone (PD). Rabbits were given with CsA for 1 week (CsAlW) and for 2 weeks (CsA2W) and CsA plus PD for 1 week (CsA +PDIW) and for 2 weeks (CsA+PD2W). The dose of CsA was 5mg/kg/day i.v. and PD was 1 mg/kg/day i.m. At 1 week and 2 weeks after the treatments, the following items were studied of alkaline phosphatase (ALPase). peroxidase, 5'-nucleotidase (SNU) with the ultrastructural enzymatic changes and electron microscopic changes. CsAlW, CsA2W and CsA +PD2W groups showed a decrease of ALPase activity and CsA+PD2W and CsA2W groups showed weakly increased peroxidase activity CsA2W and CsA+PD2W showed a decrease of 5NU activity. Ultrastructural changes of CsAlW CsA2W and CsA+PD2W groups revealed swollen and disrupted mitochondria, loss of brush border in the proximal tubules and thickening of basement membranes, edematous podocytes and fusion of root processes of podocytes in the glomeruli showing the early stage of nephrotoxicity. The concomitant treatment of PD with CsA eased the nephrotoxicity of CsA within 1 week after the treatment.
