1.Natural forgetters' episode memory and personality characteristics

Objective To explore the natural forgetters' episode memory and personality characteristics.Methods Situational Self-Awareness Scale(SSAS),Russell Loneliness Scale and Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory(ZTPI)are used upon 127 natural forgetters and subjects of control group.in which 90 subjects participate tions,natural forgetters performance worse than subjects of control group(t=1.76 one-tail,P<0.05),but subjects getters score lower in the SSAS and the future subscale of ZTPI(t1=1.73,P<0.05 one-tail;t 2=2.70,P<0.05),and tend to endorse in the present fatalistic subscale of ZTPI(t=2.19,P<0.05),but don't feel more lonely.Conclusion Natural forgetters episodic memory is selectively micro-injured under the enactment conditions,which is different from the aging impairment mode of selective source memory,and they have some special personality characteristics.
2.Optimization of the Extraction Technology of Compound Epimedium Chewable Tablets by Orthogonal Test

OBJECTIVE:To optimize the extraction technology of Compound epimedium chewable tablets. METHODS:Using the extraction rate of icariin,the content of crude polysaccharide and yield of extractum as index,the effects of water amount,ex-traction time and extraction times on extraction effect were investigated by orthogonal test. The extraction technology was optimized and validation test was conducted. RESULTS:The optimized extraction technology was as follows as 6-fold water,extracting 3 times,2 h each time. The validation test showed that the average extraction rate of icariin was(83.80±0.02)%,the average con-tent of crude polysaccharide was (29.28 ± 0.55) mg/g,and the average yield of extractum was (28.47 ± 0.29)%(RSD≤0.55%, n=3). CONCLUSIONS:The optimized extraction technology is stable,and can be used for the extraction of Compound epimedi-um chewable tablets.
3.Cyr61 expression influences cancer cell proliferation and apoptosis via PI3K pathway in human ovarian carcinoma cells

Objective To investigate the relationship between cysteine-rich protein 61 ( Cyr61 ) and phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase ( PI3K ) signal pathway on cell proliferation and apoptotic in human ovarian carcinoma cells.Methods Recombinant human Cyr61 (rhCyr61) was pretreated with ovarian carcinoma cells.The expression of Cyr61 protein was detected by confocal spectral microscopy.Then treated the ovarian carcinoma cells with PI3K transduction inhibitors (LY294002) for 24 hours.Cell apoptosis was detected by flow cytometry (FCM).Cell viability was determined by methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT) method.The mRNA expressions of Cyr61,the protein levels of protein kinase B ( PKB),phospho-PKB and Cyr61 were assaved by real time-PCR and western blot analysis,respectively.Results The Cyr61 and phospho-PKB protein expression in two ovarian carcinoma cells (OV2008 and OVCAR-3 ) were increased in rhCyr61pretreated group.The decreasing of cell apoptosis [ ( 1.4 ±0.9)%,(2.1 ± 1.0)% ] and increasing of cell proliferation [ ( 124.0 ± 1.8)%,( 133.0 ±2.2)% ] was detected in the same time,compared with negative control group,there were significant difference ( P < 0.05 ).After exposed to LY294002 for 24 hours,the apoptosis rate of OV2008 and OVCAR-3 in pretreated with rhCyr61 group exposed to LY294002 were (21.1 ± 1.6)% and (26.4 ± 1.5 )%,respectively.Cells viability [ (59.0 ± 2.3 )%,(51.0 ± 2.0)% ]was also significantly decreased in OV2008 and OVCAR-3 pretreated with rhCyr61 cells.Meanwhile,the mRNA expressions of Cyr61 (3.2 ± 0.8,6.2 ± 1.1 ) and the protein levels of phospho-PKB and Cyr61 were greatly decreased.Compared with negative control group,there were significant difference in OV2008 and OVCAR-3 cells (all P < 0.0l ).Conclusions The activation of PI3K intracellular signaling pathways may lead to up-regulation of Cyr61 expression.Block PI3K signal pathway could significantly inhibit the expression of Cyr61,and may promote the apoptotic effects and inhibit the cell growth of ovarian carcinoma cells.
4.Correlation between inflammatory factors and subclinical atherosclerosis in type 2 diabetic patients with metabolic syndrome

ELISA technique was employed to determne the concentration of mannose binding lectin (MBL),plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI 1),and high sensitive ()eactive protein (hs-CRP).hs CRP level m patients with subclinical atherosclerosis was significantly higher (P < 0.01),MBL level was of no significant difference (P>0.05) ; PAI-1 was significantly higher (P<0.01) only m those with metabolic syndrome(MS).Taking no account of subclinical atherosclerosis,MBL of diabetic patients with MS was significantly lower while hs-CRP and PNI 1 were signific amlv higher (P < 0.01).Inflammatory faetors MBL,hs-CRP,and PAI-1 involved in the -ube linical atherosclerosis development in the type 2 diabetic patients with MS.

Objective To evaluate the value of the Heidelberg retina tomograph - Ⅱ in detection of primary chronic angle-closure glaucoma(CACG) in a Chinese population, and to investigate the difference of parameters detected by HRT-Ⅱ between normal subjects and CACG patients. To evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of optic disk detection using Moorfields regression analysis (MRA) and linear discriminant function(LDF) of the HRT-Ⅱ in differentiating normal from CACG eyes. Design Prospective, comparative case series. Participants 64 eyes of 32 normal subjects and 77 eyes of 51 patients with CACG were studied. The normal subjects were ageand refraction-matched with the glaucoma patients. Methods The interventions consisted of optic disk imaged by means of HRT-Ⅱ and visual field (VF) detected with Oculus Twinfield perimetry. The CACG patients then were divided into two groups according to the VF discriminant standard and mean defect (MD) of Oculus Twinfield perimetry, the group with the glaucomatous VF defect and the group without VF defect. The optic disk was described with 14 optic disk parameters. The optic disc parameters between the normal and the patients were compared. The optic disks were also classified as "normal/borderline/outside normal limits" on the basis of MRA. The results from MRA and from LDF provided in the HRT-Ⅱ were compared. BACKGROUND:Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide)(PLGA)may produce lactic acid and glycolic acid when PLGA degrades,thus leading to the acid accumulation and inducing the inflammatory reaction locally.OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of lysine,histidine and arginine on regulating the acid accumulation of PLGA copolymer during the degradation.DESIGN:Repeated measurement and experiment.TIME AND SETTING:The experiments were performed in the College of Bioengineering.Chongqing University from July 2006 to August 2007.MATERIALS:PILGA(80:20)was produced by Sigma(USA);Lysine,histidine and arginine(purlty>99%)were purchased from Sigma(USA);Chitosan(deacetylation degree:85%)was purchased from Chengdu Kelong Chemical Reagent Factory;Algin(viscosity:1.05-1.15)was purchased from Tianiin Damao Chemical Reagent Factory.METHODS:Lysine,histidine and arginine were added into PLGA with the proportion of 5%(w/v)and 10%(w/v)respectively.The resultant film sample was put into a bottle with tri-distilled-water for 2-month degradation at 37℃.The pH value of degradation solution was detected by pH meter;Each film sample was taken out and lyophilized 12 hours to get its dry weight and calculate mass loss ratio.Each variety of the solution was sampled three specimens,the average pH value,average initial weight and average finial weight of these three specimens were taken as the indices at each sampling time point,respectively.Accordingly,the regulation effect of basic amino acid was comparexl with that of algin,chitosan and NaHCO3.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The changes of pH value of degradation solution;the mass loss ratio of the composite.RESULTS:Each basic additive could relieve the acid accumulation,among them,NaHCO3 was the strongest,while algin and chitosan showed a lowest capacity,basic amino acid was moderate;The suitable regulation effect could be achieved at a level of 5%lysine.CONCLUSION:Basic amino acid can effectively regulate the acid accumulation after PLGA degrades,and the optimal concentration of lysine is 5%.
7.Study on Anti-inflammatory Effects and Mechanism of Petroleum Ether Extract from Citrullus lanatus Vine

This article was aimed to study anti-inflammatory effects of petroleum ether extract from Citrullus lanatus vine (PEECLV) and explore the mechanism. The methods of ear swelling with xylene, increasing of peritoneal capil-lary permeability, and paw edema with egg albumin were used in the establishment of mice models, respectively. Granuloma with cotton pellet, and paw edema with carrageenan were used in the establishment of rat models, re-spectively. Observation was made on anti-inflammatory effects of PEECLV. The content of nitrous oxide (NO) and nitric oxide synthase (NOS), as well as the level of TNF-α and IL-1β in blood serum were measured among granu-loma with cotton pellet rat models. Contents of malondialdehyde (MDA), prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), 5-HT, histamine (His), and protein in inflammatory exudates from the paw edema with carrageenan rat model, as well as contents of NO and NOS in blood serum, and activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD) were measured in order to study the possi-ble anti-inflammatory effects. The results showed that PEECLV can suppress the ear swelling with xylene, the in-creasing of peritoneal capillary permeability, and the paw edema with egg albumin in mice, as well as granuloma with cotton pellet, paw edema with carrageenan in rats. It had anti-inflammatory effects at different degrees. The content of NO and NOS, as well as the level of TNF-α and IL-1β in blood serum were reduced in granuloma with cotton pellet rat models. The content of MDA, PGE2, 5-HT, His, and protein content were reduced in inflammatory exudates from the paw edema with carrageenan rat model. The increasing of NO and NOS in blood serum was inhib-ited. And the activity of SOD was increased. It was concluded that PEECLV had certain anti-inflammatory effects. Its mechanism may be related to the influence of the production of inflammatory mediators and antioxidant.
8.Research about the changing time of anti-reflux drainage bag

Objective To study the appropriate changing frequency of urinary drainage bag for patients with indwelling catheters using anti-reflux drainage bag in urological surgical department. Methods Of 78 in-patients with indwelling catheters using anti-reflux drainage bags 40 patients were selected randomly as the experimental group with no bag change,38 patients as the control group with bag change every day.Bloody urine samples were obtained from each drainage bag for germicuhure ev-ery day. Results Under situations of no difference existed in general information, duration of in-dwelling catheters,volume of drinking and urine and times of opening valve,the positive rate of urine germiculture was 7.5% and 10.5%( P>0.05 ),the incidence of symptomatic urinary tract infection (U-TI) was 2.5% and 2.6% in the experimental group and the control group (P>0.05). Conclusions There is no evidence for the necessity of anti-reflux drainage bag change every day for patients with in-dwelling catheters and bloody urine after operation in the urological surgical department. However the appropriate frequency of urinary drainage bag change needs additional study.
9.Salvia miltiorrhiza promotes vascular endothelial growth factor expression in frozen-thawed mouse ovarian in an early stage after transplantation

Objective To investigate the angiogenesis effects of Salvia miltiorrhiza in heterotopically grafted frozen-thawed mouse ovaries. Methods The ovaries thawed after cryopreservation were xenografted into the donated kidney capsules of 8- to 12-week adult male mice. The mice were divided into two groups, saline and Salvia miltiorrhiza groups, the mice either in the saline or in Salvia miltiorrhiza groups were administered I.p. Daily either saline(0.5ml) or Salvia miltiorrhiza(0.5g)respectively, from the day prior transplantation. The two groups were sacrificed 1 day,2 days and 7 days after transplantation respectively, the grafts from thawed,1 day,2 days,7 days were removed for follicle counting, immunohistochemical studying and detecting of the mRNA expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF). Results The number of follicles and survival rates in grafts after transplantation of Salvia miltiorrhiza group were more than that of saline group (P<0.05);the expression of VEGF increased after transplantation,peaked on day 7,there was no difference between the two groups (P>0.05);the apoptosis index of Salvia miltiorrhiza group was less than that of saline group (P<0.05), the mRNA expression of VEGF188 and VEGF164 of Salvia miltiorrhiza group was more than that of saline group on 48 hours after transplantation(P<0.05). Conclusion Salvia miltiorrhiza may provide benefits for folliculogensis and decreasing the apoptosis index of follicles. Nevertheless,a increase in the VEGF188 and VEGF164 isoform in the Salvia miltiorrhiza group may suggest the positive effect of exogenous Salvia miltiorrhiza therapy in the early stage of angiogenesis.
